  1. Might head to Elwood In the morning tomorrow if anyone's interested ? He there around 10 ish
  2. Spent Friday arvo at 13th beach - in good nic and even though it's not a really low tide, still easily managed a couple hours on it. Sat's forecast is a 12 knot southerly (pretty similar to today's (fri)). Wasn't really thinking of another trip down so soon but the forecast does look a little tempting. What say ye?
  3. Low tides between 1 and 2:30 pm for coming week end and light onshore winds, so why not have a Fathers Day land kite session at 13th Beach? Do we need an excuse? Zac (Son) and I (Dad) will be heading out on the Sunday to 13th beach after a breakfast (translate, a long breakfast) with kites and landboards (perhaps even the gliders). Winds are light, will keep an eye on the weather to see if Saturday is more suitable. But gunning for Sunday at the moment. None Dads welcome as well. . Regards, Norman.
  4. On again next Sunday. Was a really nice day out last year. Bring your kites, buggies, landboards, cameras - whatever you like. Dean is here: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37.4625488,143.9847243,14z
  5. Hi Guys, heading down the Elwood tommorow for a session anyone interested i'll be down there about 11-12. Looks like a Westerly! JOLLI
  6. A faint light seems to be shining at the end of a tunnel, long way off but tides good, and it might be the tail end of a front, blah blah blah..... Hope springs eternal. My 4x4 is in for repairs, so snowplay is out for a few weeks, I couldn't make the queens Birthday meet, I longingly looked at my buggy today, been watching videos, new kites that have never been flown, I NEED TO HAVE A RIDE ....... Will go own if no takers..... ( and the weather pulls one off) Just puttin it out there
  7. Hi Guys, going to Elwood for a session tomorrow be there about 11 -12. JOLLI
  8. Checking the forecast for Friday and it's looking kind of OK for a buggy, showers permitting. I think I'll just head to Truganina as its close handy to my place. Any shift workers, part timers, retirees, leave takers or sicky pullers interested in joining me? OBEwan
  9. Hi Guys, looks like another great day tomorrow for a Session at Elwood, I'm going to be there early around 10-11 am. SW at 15-20 knots expected (hopefully the Rain will stay away) JOLLI
  10. Still 15 days away, but if you don't ask you don't get. Low tides middle of the day, it's not a big one ( it's winter) so that might make 13th and some of the others not great. But how's about we meet somewhere for a day. I'm still free Saturday and Monday at this point in time. Weather obviously has to cooperate, but just looking for expressions of interest at this point in time.
  11. Just flagging that Im heading down to Ellwood for a landboard today. Once I have dusted the cobwebs off!
  12. Going to head down around 10am for a peek. Westerlies predicted.
  13. Could be a run down to Sandy this coming weekend if the weather gods play nice. Looking like a light onshore on the Saturday and direct offshore on the Sunday - the end of the beach works quite well in a direct offshore. Or perhaps the inlet where it curves around - providing no fisherman! If the wind forecast shifts significantly, I'd still be keen for a kite somewhere - beach - Trug - Geelong - Clifton etc. We wait. We see. !
  14. Hi All, We are hitting Sandy Point again for Labour Day in 2014 and have it on good information that Notus, the Greek God of the South Winds will be attending in great force This time around I have shifted the dates to include the Friday, giving opportunity to people to get in Friday night and able to hit the beach first thing Saturday morning. Share your thoughts, or if you prefer the traditional Saturday to Tuesday, opposed to Friday to Monday arrangement. Buy/Sell/Swap I'm going to start this up again as it used to work fairly well, a table will be at the main house to drop your kites/gear/accessories on that you want to either Sell or Swap. Where is it happening? We meet at Sandy Point, a small town based on the coast of Waratah bay. It is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne. 15. It's on again, a great day out for the whole family (not just kites). On over the long weekend, if your not at Sandy Point. http://rosebudkitefestival.com.au/worthy2013/ No room for buggies, nor very much for two stringers, if the winds right for the single stringers.
  16. Sweet looking forecast saturday for a buggy or whatever. Sandy is only a short hop for me, but I've done woolamai on Phillip island in similar winds, it's closer but not as good as sandy . Any interest?
  17. Hi guys, If anyone is interested I'm heading down to Elwood about 2 pm for a run. Jolli
  18. Rob and I are thinking of heading down to 13th Beach on Sunday for a run if anyone is interested in joining us
  19. Narrawong?? It's about 15 minutes east of Portland, Victoria. Has a good buggy beach, about 15km long with limited access, which means away from the caravan park, it should be a fairly empty beach. It's not overly wide, but had a good hard surface close to the water to buggy on. Should work in a SSW - SSE wind. Beach goes around in a big arc ending up at the mouth of the Fitzroy river - it was a little too SE'erly for me to get to that end. Absolutely smashing caravan park with powered and unpowered sites and cabins, lots of shade, a kitchen and a very pretty river. I'm told the beach can get a little cut up in spring by the big tides with late summer and autumn being the best time to buggy there. Highly recommended! There's a sandy track with bollards at the start to get through 100-200m long or you can take the rear tyres off the buggy and wheel it over the floating pontoon. Or get a hand to carry the buggy over. From the caravan park, go 3km west on the beach and you end up at the abalone farm and a big rock wall, as you go to the east, the beach gets a little flatter, harder and a tad wider (think 13th beach for width). I was only able to go 3.5km east of the caravan park because of the SE'erly wind, but it looked like it was just getting better and better. I'm really keen to get back there in a southerly so I can get over to the mouth of the Fitzroy river.
  20. About 20min drive west of Portland is Cape Bridgewater. Wide, flat beach about 3.5km long, stunning scenery, easy access and a great cafe right next to beach too. Probably best avoided during the holiday season - I imagine it will be wall to wall people but it was pretty good when we were there just after the school holidays were over. It was just a little soft underfoot - I don't know if that's how it always is or it was just the tide conditions on the day. It would certainly be worth a stay in one of the holiday homes available for rent just to check out the surrounding district.
  21. Hi Folks, thinking of heading to Elwood on Saturday or Sunday for a sessions, wind looks ok and wont be as HOT. Ping me if you have a preference for Saturday or Sunday i'm easy! JOLLI
  22. Just spent a few days down at 13th beach , thurs, fri, and Sunday all rideable , bumped into johhnyg and his paraglider, surprised not to see anyone else as wind so good . Taking buggy back home tonight.
  23. There is a new weather app called 'Vic Wind' which is now available for free. It has been designed specifically for kitesurfers based in Victoria. The app provides up-to-date and accurate wind observation and forecast information specifically for Victoria, Australia. It displays real time sea and land wind observations, as well as current air temperatures, sea temperatures, tide information and sun rise/set information. Vic Wind also includes a Weather page which provides a 7-day weather forecast for a specified location. The app can be downloaded from the following link: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/vic-win ... 07644?mt=8
  24. Heading to Elwood this arvo hopefully around 1ish Wind is looking promising Any takers??
  25. Keeping an eye on the wind forecast for Saturday for 13th....looks like 10 knots slightly cross onshore at moment. Low tide at 2.45pm. Not a real low tide but could be worth a run. Finger's crossed. Edit/update: very light wind forecast and lots to do at home means I probably won't make it out.....sigh. C'mon Kingston!
