  4. ive just come back from a snowboarding/skiing holiday in france. I'm a good snowboarder, can ride all mountain, powder and a bit of freestyle with reasonable style and ease. Though saying this there was no powder in morzine as it was all tracked out and getting a bit cruddy. I very quickly got bored of Snowboarding and decided to give skiing a go for a few days, got some good skis, boots and hit the mountain. After the first few runs i couldnt work out why i ever switched in the first place. If you are going to be skiing on pistes the whole time skiing is 1000x more rewarding, you can get down anything on a snowboard at pace, carving etc and you won't be outta breath, do it properly on a set of skis and your knackered at the bottom. Personally i find skiing to be more technically rewarding, slightly harder to master and even the freestyle is better (IMHO) Bring the skis, learn to snowboard (should only take a few days) then try both. All depends what you want really. have a good holiday and keep that weight forward, front leg bent and just go for it. Scotty
  5. long term forecast. go ask your local fisherman. seriously after 5 days weather forecasts are rubbish. too much chaos in the world. the long term forecast for this winter is cold and dry. ie lots of high pressure systems. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk has long range for the uk. snow-forecast.com is good for 6 day forecasts though you have to pay, its not much. i have the 6month deal for £12. good for tracking snow in scotland. hope you have a good time. i'm off to morzine on monday and i know for a fact there is A LOT of snow there for this time of the year :D
  6. is anyone going flying over the weekend, where is best with a NW as seems to be the forecast on windfinder.com/reports/edinburgh .have a nice new flysurfer psycho that needs its legs stretched somewhere nice on the landboard. any ideas near the edinburgh area would be sweet. 14. .......Me and Rob travelled up to St Andrews to discover it was blowing an absolute gale at the weekend. With a Blade 4.9 being the smallest kite in the boot flying was sacked. After the sulking finished a length of rope was attached to the car and the following 1hr and 1/2 spent towing each other around. Speeds weren't that high as both of us are carrying injuries but 31.1mph (gps) was the top speed on the day from carving across behind the car. pics can be found here (they were taken while driving so quality isnt to hot!!) short movie here (8.9mb) what other ideas have people come up with for no/too much wind days?? Scotty

  16. Yeah i'm pretty much decided, but there is only so much that you can tell from browsing the interweb, need to fly one now!!! where is the cheapest place to buy new kites in the UK??? I have a funny feeling not many V16's are going to come up for sale on these boards as everyone loves them. missed out a few weeks ago on a bargin. unfortunatly wasnt ready to buy at the time.
  17. Yeah wind things is just down the corner, went to go down yesterday to have a chat but they were closed for some reason!!! My friend has just purchased a rather nice Venom 13m, unfortunatly 2 days before it arrived he managed to mangle his shoulder mountain boarding so we havent had a chance to fly it yet!! won't purchase anything till i have a go on that. ps Final Year mechanical engineering is not kiting friendly!!!!!
  18. Right, I've been flying kites for a while now, started out about 3 years ago but have never owned a kite!! Been flying friends kites for ages, had a super 10 for a while as well. Can do big jumps and ride a landboard with Blade 3 6.6 /4.9 (when its windy). I'm looking to buy my own kite now for landboarding (have a board already) and have been looking into lots of options. Weighing in at 97kg (15 and a bit stone) i'm not a light lad (carried on a 6'4'' frame so i ain't fat!!!), was thinking along the lines of the PL Venom 16m. Most my flying is in the Edinburgh/St Andrews Area with decent winds (click >>HERE Any other ideas? what is the equivalent sized kites from other manufactures?? Thoughts and Ideas greatly welcome. Also where is the best place near edinburgh for flying apart from the always gusty holyrood that isn't miles away (st andrews)??? Gullan, portabello??other grassy areas?? Has anyone got an V16's or Frenzys in the Edinburgh Area that i could have a fly at? Cheers Guys Scotty ps if anyone has a PL Venom for sale give me a PM.
