In short yeah it will, some find handles ok, but from experience a bar is the natural setup for landboarding, again thats my opinion but i'd guess 75% of people would agree. You do notice less subtle control but for air it's the perfect trapeeze.
Obviously practice and time will improve you control of the board and kite together, and getting used to a bar (and harness) will take time but it's the way forward!!
New Forest has large space but boarding/buggying is banned as are any kites over 3m I think. We'll all have to take up stealing cars its more socially acceptable!
Hey Matt i've been looking around for guys in zumerzet kiting doesn't seem terribly popular around here!!
I'm near Yeovil and strugglr to find anywhere nearby to go flying it's usually going to either up to Weston or down to Poole so count me in sometime, if you'd let us know where lansdown is!
I'm not sure obsession is a strong enough word, when you have to steal old lady's pensions to fund your kite habbit and start lying to your loved ones about where you've been. It's a couple of spaces above obsession!!
n.b not that i do that but you know who you are;)
I'm an elecrtonics engineer so i fall into the IT braket but we fix real problems ) Not self engineered ones!!
I agree it's the boring sat on your a**e jobs means you need to do something daft on weekends, my mate flys harrier jump jets and doesn't do anything exciting after work whats the point!!
Well it really stared gusting as a front passed over the beach so we got the 4 liners away and put up my sisters stacker and my 2 line ram thingy, they both had the lines snap and got blown into all the nasty jaggedy bushes.
That i guess was the que to run away as the wind started gusting evenharder no idea but must have been around force 9 - 10 as we were having trouble walking back to the car!!!!
You can get decent jumps off a beamer 2.5!! New Years day down at Breen, great fun but we did kill 2 kites, then the big wind hit force 10 gusts we recorded! What a blast certainly cured the New years hangover! Happy new year to everyone and may the large winds continue!
You could try the Southampton kite flyers2 thread Lordshill rec is one decent place i've been to acres of room if there's no match on, also a location known as "the place with the pub!"
That was a several pairs of underpants jump!!!!!!!! I bet he had to think about taking that kite up again. How in the hell did he get out of that one alive, as he brings the kite into the beach it looses height so quickly he should have been worm food!
So, this my well be an over asked question, but i'll give it shot. Has anyone:
1. Built their own board?
2. Give me a point in the right direction regarding the above?
I know my engineering skills are up to building a safe board it's more where can you get trucks/wheels/decks?
Any help would be cool
Seriously guys. Where are all the power kite fanatics in south somerset!!
I live right by a bloody airfield! So no flying nearby, i need somewhere thats not Baiter park or a beach! Muchos helpos needed
