  1. Hey guys, I'm the builder responsible for this delicious carbon beast. If someone wants one in their quiver, shoot me a PM. We are normally build longboards and kiteboards, but as shown here, we pretty much do it all! Check: http://www.pulseboards.com Cheers, Will
  2. We have a couple here in NZ. I rode some with Craig Hansen (co-owner of PL in NZ). The 8m is a beast. We snowkited with it in 10 knot winds all day long. Incredibly stable and forgiving. But be warned, when you loop it or swing off a ridge it can punish you! Also the quality of the kites PL has been releasing are continually improving. This year the Hornet looks pretty much on par with stuff from brands like ozone and flexi. Bridles are fully sleeved and sewn, the handles and bag have been improved and the vent openings properly reinforced. I can't wait until the race kite is released! Cheers, Will
  3. Links still aren't working for me.
  4. the embeded link is broken
  5. Hey all, Hey guys, A bit of a reluctant sale here, but it has to be done. The kite is in average condition. It's had 30+ hard sessions on it and I loved every second. Even though she's been used well, I've always taken good care of her. I dry it out after every session within 24 hours, and I clean and check the spars for corosion. The VPC pulleys are showing some wear, which is evident by the wearing off of the silver coating. They also tend to squeak a little bit when flying. There is a minor rip in the upper skin, but it has been professionally repaired. I had the tear fixed by the PL factory down here in New Zealand. It is slightly noticable when it is in the sky, but doesnt affect performance in anyway at all. The zip on the bag gets stuck a little bit from time to time, but it's no big issue really. I'll include the bag, spars, snow/sand bag, Tshirt and instruction manual. The tshirt and instructions are still in the original packaging!!! I think that $AU450 shipped is a fair price, when you consider the condition of the kite. Although, in saying that, I still think there has to be another 2-3 years of HARD use left in this kite. The fabric still has that nice crisp feeling to it and the spar pockets are showing no signs of wear at all. Cheers, Will
  6. The track on the second vid is called 'club foot' by kasabian
  7. FIRST Homebrew NASA wing 2.3 mtr +Cheap mountainboard. Then 9mtr phantom + assortment of homebrew kites. Then 2mtr, 4.5, 6.5 homebrew combo of foils. + 4,8,12 NASA wings. Then 'repaired' combo of 13 and 15 G2s + bigfoot buggy (for a week) Then 13 G2, 16 proto vortex. + modded PL comp2 NOW 13 Scorpion, 16 proto vortex At last, I found the right combo!!
  8. Hey guys, One of the guys from the PL factory in NZ is coming to Aussie, for some kite festivals. He'll be doing a tour of all the major shops as well, and he will have a 13 and 16mtr available for demo. For those of you in Adelaide, keep an eye out for him at the kite festival! Cheers, Will
  9. Aerial shots were taken from the pier at our local spot. As for the next one, we've got some cool ideas, these include: Arc jumping Buggy exits 4WD chase camera. Cheers, Will (wearing red in the video)
  10. I've taken the 16 on the water. It's really good. We also tested it on the kitecat, it's amazing. Much better than the V19, with about the same low end. As for water relaunch, it's actually not so bad. I managed 2-3 starts from the water, but I only touched it down for a few seconds. In a strong wind, they basically fly themselves after a crash. I think ground handling is slightly better than the phantom, but you really need to have it 80-100% inflated... otherwise it will just flop to the ground.
  11. the 16mtr is very nice. Definitely feels more gruntier than the 13mtr. I'm gonna try a kiteloop session with it this weekend... hopefully I'll have some good pics of big crashes.
  12. It doesn't stand for anything. "arc" was just used to describe the kite when they were prototyping it, as it resembled the outside edge of a circle.
  13. Hey Joel, jumping with arcs is really awesome. I really like having a kite that will auto zenith (comes in handy after a big crash:D, or when I'm getting strapped in.) I think they are the best kites to make rapid progress with (vs. say a fixed bridled kite) In the beginning, I found that the blade 3 4.9 was just too difficult to become accustomed to buggy jumping with, as I really needed depower. It's a feature I just can't live without. I find that because of the depower, you can afford to be extremely violent when flying the kite. Whereas, if you flew a blade in a similar way (for example, by taking it from the top right of the window across the top and then forcefully swooping it towards the ground, pulling off a 180 in the process) then your face would be gone:eek: I found you could afford to make mistakes with the ARCS, and the kite was relatively forgiving. This meant I felt comfortable trying some fairly radical stuff, right at the beginning. I think it goes without saying that the scorpion is by far the best. Lift comes on so quick, and the landing is so soft... so incredibly soft... I find when I'm freestyling with the scorpion that I really am freestylin'!! I can just chuck the kite around, putting it exactly where I want it, exactly when I want it. In my opinion, the ARC is the perfect style kite for me. It just compliments my flying style so well. Despite this, I think I must be one of the only freestylers in the world of traction kiting that uses ARCs exclusively for buggy jumping. I only know of a few other guys that are currently using them... Cheers, Will
  14. hey guys, As promised, here are some pics of the latest generation PL twinskin. So far, it's the best kite that I have used for buggy jumping. Enjoy: cheers, Will
  15. Hey man, check out arcusers for heaps of info: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/arcusers/ The best mod to do on a V2 is the BSR (bob's shoulder reconstruction) It involves changing the straps at the tips of the kite. Doesn't really change the exterior that much, but makes it turn faster and increases lift. Don't bother with the TET (trailing edge tuck) as this is standard on all the V2s. Cheers, William.
  16. Hey guys, PL pimp here. And yes it is true that I flown one of the proto scorps. (the 13mtr) It's revolutionary. My first comment was "it's quick," you just can't escape the flying speed. Bar pressure is really light for the turns generated. Lift is SOOO floaty. Far nicer to freestyle with than any other arc (I use vortexes, G2s, Venoms and now Scorpions for freestyling in the buggy) It just places you on the ground, no stalling or maxing out like on the G2. It's just taken everything to a new level for me. As for speed... it will go SO far into the wind. I'm amazed. It just keeps flying upwind. It blows everything out of the water. Depowering, just changes the entire kite, no more edging against the kite to kill speed/power. It's so good for cruising. FAR superior to the phantoms and venoms. Relaunch is good. About the same as a phantom, if not slightly better. Easy as pie so long as you know what you are doing. as for photos and videos. We will be getting some after this weekend's flying (as we just got the production models in NZ). hopefully the wind is cranking at 20-25 knots and we can produce some big jumps, and capture them on film.
  17. Great kite, top guy. This should be snapped up fairly soon I imagine, wicked little kite for boosting big in a nice wind. 8)
  18. Hey, tried to sell this on flexi forums for ages, not much interest. Would much rather sell it on here, so it stays closer to home. Here's the deal: 1 - kite flew into powerlines 2 - Has a new black tip, replacing the melted one. 3 - Kite has one green and one black tip. Plus a completely replaced cell. 4 - Kite has a new set of spars, plus new spar pocket. Webbing replaced... etc. Repair was done professionally. Not so sure what it's worth, but taking into consideration the repairs done, I'd say approx $280 inc. postage? The rest of the skin is perfectly crispy. Flown maybe less than 10 times. Kite was ripped when I got it, so I'm guessing a total newbie ended up crashing it, fairly earily in the kite's life. Here are a couple of pics of the repaired tip
  19. good review, In what ways is the Samurai better as far as build quality is concerned. I have seen and flown Rebble's before but I have never even seen a Samurai. From what I can see the Rebble is very solid. (running over one in a buggy IS a form of strength testing). I have had no trouble with these kites before :-)
