  6. Happy Birthday Carl Keep that vid rolling !
  7. Its deffo oil John - my venom is covered in spots of it. I only noticed, because when I was drying it, there were small patches of sand on the kite - when I wiped them off, it REALLY stank of oil. I wonder if this is related to the pipe that we were jumping round on Sunday? - another leak from the rig maybe? Steve
  8. I wonder if it is possible to engineer 3 wheels across the back. (all in parallel, so the middle wheel is directly behind the driver. Would this improve the rear grip? without increasing the length too much? hmmmm. . . .
  9. Excellent posts. Please stop raining and send some nice wind! Anglesea at the weekend - a small hardly used beach at Llanfwrog.
  10. Interesting reading these posts. On one hand, it seems we have someone who is comitted to improving the safety, the overall exposure of the sport, and Ainsdale on a national level. On the otherhand , we have John, who claims to have Ainsdale beach's best interest at heart. On closer reading, it is obvious that his real agenda is to limit Ainsdale, as a venue, to his particular variant of the sport. You can almost feel his delight when mentioning that Aerial freestle may never happen at Ainsdale. when actually, it is a sad possibility. One thing I will say is, that looking at Big John's photograph of Carl from 1km away, the spectators and other kiters seem pretty safe - purely by thier vicinity. On the other hand, you try landboarding at Ainsdale when there are a few 400lb race buggys flying around, I know which I prefer to be on the beach with! Lastly, John, What exactly have you moved forward on Ainsdale in the past three years? I have had 3 different membership numbers, an amazing array of beurocracy, forced club membership (now no longer required) and a constant cloud of bad-feeling at events and on this forum. - I havent felt much progress. Steve Ainsdale - An amazing beach ruined by politics.
  11. Matt, I use a Libre Buggy Harness. Its comfy, and has quite a bit of padding on the hips - rather like lite crash shorts. Nylon straps lets me change spreader bar quickly between a roller and hook. I use an arminator spreader when buggying, but I am not convinced on how safe it is. - there is no quick release. Also, its got a very wide velcro waist strap which stops the bar from pinchin the skin. Your welcome for a try next time we meet up. Cheers Steve
  12. I'll probably be down about 11 -> 2 8.3m high tide at 11, but there will be plenty of room I hope.
  13. I might nip out for a 2hr lunchtime blast tomorrow - cant make a trip cos I've got to work for some of the day. SE - gusty gutsy fun -> buggy weather I rekon
  14. since its becoming winter and the wind may be getting up (heres hoping) try a venom you can pick up a 13 or 10 V1 for a reasonable price and the wind range is bigger than a blade for a single kite well lifty and floaty.
  15. Adamski - What a top guy to deal with. Not only great comms, but also piled some freebies in with the bar I bought off him. Thanks Adam, Steve
  16. This is an alarming discussion, and begs a couple of questions: IF LEIs are banned for whatever reason, what about twin skins? - some people may argue that they can fall into the same category as LEIs - they have some similar characteristics as LEIs, (size, line strength etc) - they are the tool of choice for most landboarders. Banning these types of kites would be disasterous for a lot of landboarders. - in other words, first LEIs get banned, then twin skins, then large kites - then what??? - this needs to be nipped in the bud before it ruines a lot of potential for the site. Secondly, who knows what is around the corner with kite design . . if regulations are brought in banning this or that type of kite, Ainsdale may end up being a "difficult" site to kite i due to complex rulesets. Lastly, does anybody know of other beaches / sites whic have reason to apply restrictions such as this? my 2p worth! Steve

  18. Well funny session.:D John: Pity we didnt get some footage of you trying to pendulum jump the "kitewing creature" !! - talk about a FAST kite
  19. Just got back from what must be the best landboarding session of my life at BoLS. Weather was fantastic up until about 4:30 when a bit of rain turned up. Until then, it was warm, occaisionally sunny and a stunning 15-20mph Westerly. Sand there is in a great state - LOADS of it. Firm, reasonably hard and tremendously flat. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a venture tomorrow. Well worth an just over an hour in the car BIG thanks to the AOSPKC crew for organising such a great event! and finally . . . Sorry to Mike (Sandmonster) for the Kite collision. Steve
