  1. best directions are easterleys and westerleys, the back field works on a northerley and the middle field works well on southerleys, but as foz said, it works in most directions. the "wookie" is our dog, she has grown out of being curious now but likes a good fuss.
  2. oopss sorry yes you can get insurance on the day, for a year, can't do day insurance, unless you look at sports cover direct before you come as I think they do a day cover.
  3. Hi Guys, insurance required if on wheels, if you are static flying then no insurance is required (only recommended) you will need a helmet if on wheels. We have demo equipment to try ( let us know if there is any specific and we can get it in) plus equipment to rent (airfield use is included in the price of equipment hire) check out the link to the website with more info. https://www.powerkitecentre.com/the-airfield/info_5.html our next event is on the 30th October £10 weekend ticket includes camping over night and party https://www.powerkitecentre.com/events/info_7.html. We have full facilities on site, including refreshments and toilets etc.. Our Opening Times are 10am - 5.30pm and most directions are workable, I think this weekend is a northerly so the back field which is the largest would be a good bet. Hope that helps. Elly
  4. I really don't know where to start.... This is Elly the other owner from Airboss. I don't tend to read this forum that often, so replys to me won't be read. I felt I need to clarify a few things and actually put an end to this thread. Thank you to all those who have supported us throughout this thread, it is appreciated. 1) 95% of the people commenting on this did not attend the event hence please don't get involved with something that you can't really comment on. for those who attended the whole event, it has all been positive feedback. 2) the bbq sausages and burgers are just that, BBQ food, the veggies were catered for with heinz baked beans and jacket spud and cheese, the chilli was homemade with fresh ingredients and we sold out of this, so it must have been good. All items were £2.50 or less, that is not expensive for the portion you got. People who had special dietary requirements asked us in advance and this was fine by us to bring their own food. 3) we are a private site not public, in which case we can ask what we like, you seem to think this is a public place, it is not, therefore you would not go to a private restaurant with your picnic, you would be escorted out. We asked kindly and everyone at the event did not kick up a fuss apart from a handful of people who have been determined over the last 6 months to cause some hassle at the airfield, they have never once been to us directly and given us their feedback, to publicly put this out here to people who have never experienced our events is unfair and I ask people to reserve comment until they have attended an event with us. 4) the reason why we kindly asked for people to buy food from us throughout the weekend was because most people who attend have already got their own kites so we do not make any money from this. we are a business and we need to generate an income other than kites over the weekend and that would be through airfield use and food, without this type of income the airfield cannot run events. 5) rasga you sent us an e-mail the other day, it wasn't too clear but if it was to ask for our support, or our advertising money please can you be unbiased, a comment further up was a little unprofessional. 6) Gary is possibly one of the most un aggressive people, sarcastic yes, but only because this has provoked us both into defending our business 7) On a normal day to day basis it would be great if you bought food from us (we are a shop and we do stock food), but not essential, we do ask that you don't eat your own food outside the shop as this would not encourage people buying refreshments from the shop. So I hope this has answered questions, if we run an event we do ask that you buy food from us, so that we can actually run the event, if you don't want to by food from us there is a pub round the corner. Elly

  6. was in airboss recently and they have a large OR session harness and nitrous shorts, i am looking at getting the starlet shorts, but slightly concerned they may pinch, any advice girls?
  7. I have always been a foil person, but recently had my first outing on waroo 9m, and although I didn't really like flying it statically at first (as that's not what it's made for) as soon as I started moving in buggy, it really made sense! I for sure am converted, although, I think for a while you will probably still see me flying my smaller foils in high wind! If you want to try the bow/sle kites then go to http://www.theairfield.co.uk loads of people are using lei's up there now and Airboss also offer conversion lessons to go from handles and foils kites to bow kites well worth it to know how control the lei's quite different to handles and how to launch and land the kite on land safely!
  8. it sounds like you have only tried the small field at Airboss, don't forget the big field over the runway.
  9. Whats all this cheating bit about, i though there were no rules! Judge G (lost my login so using Els)
  10. I am waiting for a call today to confirm if we can open next week for flying and sales. As soon as I hear, everyone on the e-mail list will be informed and I will also post here if I get time, if not I'm sure Ri chie will post The junior club will be running just as soon as we're settled, again I will post when we are up and running. Hope this answers some Questions for now. Watch this space. Elly
