Hi guys and gals, Have upgraded to new ion kites (awesome by the way) and now need to sell my old stuff. I've got a red 9m Slingshot Diesel (2005), bought new in Oz and only had minimal use. No repairs, bar and lines, pump, bag (the zip is unfortunately broken, but all the straps still work and hold it closed) all included. PM me or email for photo's. Cost wise I'd like 150 quid, but am open to offers. Cheers Simon

Dunno if you've tried it (and because i aint read the whole thread even if anyone else has mentioned it) but the hub at glentress sells off they're ex-hire bikes for 350 to 400 quid. I got a cinder cone from there with marzocchi forks and hayes 9 disc set up, suits me fine. You can see they're stuff on http://www.thehubintheforest.co.uk I think they've got an ebay shop as well now. Cheers

Am up for kiting related antics this weekend and probably the one after as well... however may be up in inverness. Anyway as far as this weekend goes, jim's not around as he's kayaking somewhere. Weather wise its looking southerly on friday, easterly over the weekend and monday... maybe st andy's then would be best? Anyone got any better ideas? Dunbar?

Sorry for late post, this is due a combination of lack of proper t'interweb access at work at mo and a small snooze on sofa after film last night. But yeah sunday was good and went a bit like this: turn up...no wind, nothing, not a breath but loads of guys down hanging about in the normal frustrated kiter stances. Some frisbee was played, some abuse hurled at me, conditions at st andrews were checked through the marvel of the mobile phone and martie and cris tucked into their first cider of the day. More friendly banter was partaken of and we decided to hit safeways and pick up some bbq material. Having returned, said bbq was lit, everyone sat down, more chat, ris and martie crack open the newly acquired case of miller. martie then actually did some kiting with the frenzy, followed by me having a shot whilst martie ate his sausage sandwich...cris...drank more beer. At this point the irvine flyers flag was noted to be moving more than the pathetic flap we'd become used to so various kites were launched, swapped, flown and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. After a truly satisfying afternoon on the trampa and guerilla (man, i love that kite) during which cris and martie seemed to always be willing to offer advice with a beer in hand the second bbq was lit, the final batch of sausages cooked and eatena and we all packed up and headed home. Not before cris and martie had split the (very few) remaining beers between them... did you spot a theme? but anyway, had a wicked day, an awesome afternoon on the landboard and the grin is still going strong. Apologies for the jim sized post.

Hi there, went to norway last year and used a company on the web, http://www.direct-travel.co.uk (i think!?) they covered us for kiting as well as all the usual winter sports. I think we rang them up to check specifically that we were covered. But don' remember it being a problem. Hope this helps. Simon

Couple of us guys from glasgow had a trip to Geilo last winter and its pretty damn good. For snowboarding/skiing its not bad, not a massive resort like the purpose built ones in the alps but if you combine it with snowkiting its fine for those no wind/visibility days when you can't kite. There's a school there based in one of the hotels run by really helpful, friendly guys. As far as areas for kiting goes there's one actually in geilo at the top of lifts, you can park at the bottom to avoid having to hike back over the valley when the lifts close. The one in the videos on the net is the hardangervidda (spelling??) which is about 20~30mins drive outside geilo, couldn't tell you what it looks like as it was a total white out the day we went. There's a hotel 5 mins from it run by the father's of one of the top guys on the tour. As far as stopping and jumping on any bit of flat snow covered stuff you've gotta be a little careful as they tend to be frozen lakes! The edge of the safe ice is sometimes marked by posts as far as i remember, but not always! There are loads of these that look really tempting between geilo and the hardangervidda but we weren't brave enough to try em. If you can hire, beg, steal a car to get around as it means not having to be down by last lift and the pistes in the town are on either side of the valley which while it is walkable, is a fair distance. Mick, as far as mountain experience goes just be aware of the area your kiting in i.e. watch out for cliffs and try and go first time with someone who knows the area. But even more than that weather can change really, really quickly in the mountains and it's very easy to get caught out with a large kite up! Rob, when you off as would love another chance to have a go on the hardangervidda? Sorry for the essay, bit bored at work and just reliving some of the best kiting memories i've got. Enjoy wherever you go. Cheers Simon
