  6. Hi, you could try posting it up for sale on rec.kites - which should reach a wider kiting community.. see : http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.kites P. P.S. I think Airdynaimcs kites are excelent, and I already have a Dharma.

  9. Hi, try this useful link too , to get a list of trick descriptions - easy to download "the whole file" and print off : http://www.win.tue.nl/~pp/kites/basics/flying.split.html P.
  10. Hi, Wells-Next the sea has a great beach, especially when the tide is out. Great for flying on, but please note that, currently, buggies are banned on the beach. P.
  11. I do travel to, and spend a lot of time in this part of Norfolk. Any comprehensive ban on all power kiting activities would be very bad news! P.
  12. English Nature have this news item released today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2956600.stm about the importance of the coastal environment. On the English Nature website, Holkham ( and also much of the North Norfolk coastline ) is designated a "Spotlight Reserve", so they have concerns over environmental damage...etc... ( yes, what damage do horses, dog poo...children making sandcastles...!! ) Interesting, Ainsdale Beach is also listed as a Spolight Reserve, what is the state of play w.r.t buggying / atbs there ?? Question, How can we show that we are envionmentally aware, w.r.t buggying at Holkham ( and other parts of the North Norfolk coast ) ??
  13. I am wondering if the ban will include the beach at Wells Next-to-Sea, as it is also owned by the Earl...
  14. Hi, Sorry to hear about your back. I have to be careful with my back too. I flew a 3.5 bullet at the weekendin light winds ( 5-7 ) mph, and found that ok, but .. with a small rise in the wind speed on a couple of occasions the kite did lift me off the ground, and I could see that in a 10 - 12 mph wind it would begin to seriously pull. I fly Little Devils for the most part and find the 2.1 gives me a good workout. With my back I static fly only and so I have kept my kite sizes down to under 4 mtr. ( I have yet to fly the 4.5 LD ). The question is how badly injured is your back ? I find the kiting helps me in that it stretches my back, but like you I am careful not to get toooo much air, but scudding is ok. Email me if you would like to talk more.. Paw.
  15. Hi, I have found that the 10s need at least a steady 7 mph to get it airbourne, if the "small breeze" was anything like the light winds I had here over the weekend, then it probably was too light to launch. Were you trying to launch off grass or on a beach. It is easier on sand. For grass I sometimes use two pieces of dowling pushed into the ground at an angle just in front of the kite and so pull it up clear of the grass to launch. O i know the frustrations of wanting to fly, even more so if you are standing around watching someone else fly ok ... but it will come.
