  1. Well, base is either centre of Nottingham itself, or Radcliffe on Trent, so Derby is a fair trek either way...
  2. Isn't Derby racecourse in... Derby? Is buggying allowed on Nottingham racecourse (round Colwick way?) I don't know Notts *that* well, but Rushcliffe park sounds favourite so far...
  3. Got family round Nottingham, so I'm likely to be there reasonably often... Any suggestions of somewhere I can go buggying if there's a bit of a breeze? Cheers!
  4. The other thing you could do is drill and tap the frame to take the bolt. I tried it, but I broke the tap - DOH! Araldite was Plan B.
  5. Got pretty much the same setup, but I chopped off the tail of the computer mount, shaved the back flat with a Stanley knife, then Araldited the mount onto the frame neck. Looks tidy!
  6. I'm guessing, since you're in Norfolk, that you're not contemplating downhill landboarding... ;-) So, assuming you wanna be towed by a kite - landboarding isn't that similar to snowboarding. What it's most like, if anything, is windsurfing, but it's not really much like that, either. :-/ I guess what you really want to know is how transferrable your snowboarding skills will be to landboarding, to which the answer is "not much". I've been snowboarding for eight years and I'm pretty confident on/off/above piste - but getting on a board while flying a kite is completely different. For one thing you're always leaning in the one direction - away from the kite (similarity to windsurfing...). For another, while learning you tend to spend a lot of time bailing by jumping out of the bindings - nothing like snowboarding. And mainly, when you come off - it HURTS. Bad. Dragging an edge to slow down is possible, I'm told, but it's definitely a trick, rather than a beginner's fallback technique. So in summary - how much like snowboarding is landboarding? Not that much. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it though! Best of luck...
  7. Now THAT would be a freestyle trick I'd pay to see - a 360 degree ROLL.
  8. Top tip has to be get down to your nearest flying site, see what the guys on the boards are flying, and talk to them about it. I can tell you that if you came to my local site, you'd find everyone on either Bullet 3.5 or Blade II 4.0/4.9/6.4, depending on windspeed, with one guy flying some old Quadrifoil thing. Bear in mind that if you're planning on starting right away, winter's coming on, so you might be better off with something smaller - Bullet 2.5 or even maybe 1.5 - don't really know. Seriously - go to a field where people are doing it and ask - they'll probably give you a go, so you can get a feel for it yourself.
  9. Which is better - dinghy sailing or windsurfing? Similar question. Boarding: For: way cooler, tricks are easier and there are more options and possibilities, it's a bit like kitesurfing, it's cheaper, most boards can double as downhill mountainboards, and very importantly for many, a board FITS IN YOUR CAR Against: balance is tricky, painful crashes are more likely, you're standing up all damn day. Buggying: For: much easier, so you get the adrenaline buzz of going fast pretty much right away, painful crashes are much less likely (although when they do happen they can be BAAAAAD), you're sitting in a nice comfy seat all day, albeit working your arms like a maniac, and tricks, when you finally manage them, look incredible. Against: it's a bit more expensive, it's not as "cool", tricking is harder, it's not much like kitesurfing (so the skills are less transferable if that's what you're aiming for), the buggy is only any good for kiting with, pretty much, and unless you're driving a Volvo or a van, some dismantlement is needed to get the damn thing in the boot. I've tried both, and buggying is the one for me - this despite the fact that I've been snowboarding for ten years, and therefore should be expected to take to boarding quite easily. But that's just me. Best advice has to be - get a kite, go to your local flying field, practice scudding about and bit, then ask the other kiters - chances are someone there will let you try their buggy and/or board, and you can make your own mind up. That's what I did...
  10. There's a guy named Mike (don't know if he uses the boards here) comes down to Sundorne park in Shrewsbury who's built a full-on trailer which fits behind a flexi buggy - so you get an extra back axle. I'll post a picture if/when he brings it down again.
  11. http://www.flexifoil.com/community/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24154 Should be worth a look. Wish I'd seen it before Sunday...
  12. Someone on here has apparently got a pukka buggy for sale for £200 plus postage. Has to be worth looking at. I'll see if I can find a link...
  13. Just realised you might need to sit people on the back seat... when you said "fold the back down", did you mean the car seat? If you take it COMPLETELY apart it should fit in the boot without any problem at all. Depending on how big those wheels are, you might not have much space to spare...
  14. I got a nice new Flexi buggy tonight, spent the evening putting it together, and then had to take both back wheels off to get it in the boot of my Daewoo Kalos (needed the back seats down, and might be a bit smaller than an Astra?). No further dismantlement required - and if you've got a 19mm socket spanner, you can get both wheels back on and be ready to roll in about 90 seconds.
  15. Thanks! Next question: why did the email telling me I had a reply provide a link.... to a porn site? Is it Flexifoil's normal policy to advertise porn? The email said: "be as the cloud has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Buggying spots in Norfolk - in the Buggying forum of Flexifoil Forums. This thread is located at: http://pimp/phase2/community/forums/showthread.php?threadid=24113&goto=newpost There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the board again. Yours, Flexifoil Forums team" Suffice to say that link does not lead here.
