I have not but have heard stories of people riding on dry lake beds at night. They put 4 tiny lights to mark the corners of their foil kites and possibly some more to be able to tell the leading edge from the back.

Here is a photo of my setup (bring the kid and the dog.) My main buggy has a platform to sit on (and place your feet on the seat straps from the back of the seat. The second smaller buggy is attached between the platform and the foot pegs on the second buggy. It appears I don't have any decent pictures of the connection to the second buggy. I'll take some in the future.

I showed up about 3 years ago after reading about it on the forum and had an awesome time. Now I show up on both weekends of the events. Total like minded, wind driven people were there. Great group of guys. We are on the beach when the wind and tide cooperate and hang by the campfire and bbq in the mornings and evenings. If you are interested and have the time to come, please do show up. It's always fun with additional people.

Very cool. Like I have said numerous times before, "whatever it takes to put a smile on your face while you are on the end of some kite strings." For me getting moving under kite power is what makes me happy. I live just south of where you were, between Monroe, Duvall and Woodinville. I also make it to the Washington coast multiple times during the summer. I also attend a get together in Oregon at sunset beach. It's a fun gathering of mainly buggy riders and blokart riders on extended labor day and memorial day weekends. It's good beach buggy time and nearby camping and food. If you need some people to ride with, come on up.

Im not in your area. Im up in Washington state. But I can understand, it's always nice to share the wind with somebody. Hopefully someone will speak up from your area. I like the innovation of BMX handlebars and stem on your kite buggy. Is it a home brewed buggy? Any more pictures of it?

I apologize, I did not know about the differences. It looks like some searching and learning is in my near future.

On the power kite forum "blitzhound" recently set up his MG cruiser on lenticular wheels for a trip to the Alvord dry lake bed in south eastern Oregon. I believe he also tried them on the beach and they did not work in the soft sand, (dug in like barrows).

Great video. Its good to see some people's footage of IBX this year. I wish I had made the time... It's amazing the long reaches that you can do on a dry lake bed vs a beach with less than optimal wind directions. I'm hoping to make it to Oregon's dry lake bed (Alvord) sometime this summer to try out some playa.

At home I use kayak lifts from my 10 foot garage ceiling and lift them flat up. I took normal bicycle hooks, cut the threads off and added material to make them long enough to get from the wall studs and out to the axle.

Would it be possible to either get the parts from Peter Lynn or a kite shop. Or you could purchase the proper sized threaded running rod and cut it to length. Add nylock nuts. You may also need to cut some tubing for the axle spacers.

That's what i imagined, very cool. The lower disk is about half the thickness of the main crown and there is also a smaller disk at the lower bearing also?
