  1. So you have created a Master Boot Record on the USB external HD, and installed XP on it. I would unplug the USB HD and first install XP on the brand new internal HD. Once installed plug the USB HD back in. Go to computer management - Disk management- The drive should appear. Right click on the drive at the top or the long bar at the bottom of the screen - Create new partition - Primary - logical. All your data will be erased.
  2. Whereabouts exactly? What time and what day? I might pop down just to say hello, no kite at the moment! Undecided which one to purchase.
  3. My mate and I took his Blade 3 4.0M out in 24MPH winds yesterday. West common - Lincoln. It was too windy for it, scary and a little dangerous. It made me realise about having different kites for different wind conditions, and got me thinking about a smallish size flow or sting. I bet it would have been top fun using a 2.4m Sting in those blusty conditions! The sarga continues on which kite(s) to purchase.
  4. Hmm they do look good fun, but maybe a little too basic.
  5. Guys, how good are these kites? Are they fairly old? User experience stories would be good.
  6. That spot looked lovely, not just from a kite surfing point of view. The whole landscape.
  7. Location looks great, esp that beach!
  8. some serious hangtime! Very impressive.
  9. Its really a common sense approach using basic laws of physics. If you have a pull force acting upon an object and you want to resist that force, you provide a pulling force in the other direction. The skidding comes about from the balance between the kite pull force, versus you leaning back far enough to control the speed. Then the laws of friction come into play with you either zooming off because its slippy underfoot or a slow paced controllable skid.

  11. Not fully relevant, but I was stopped taking a photo outside the HSBC building in Shanghai. A security guard ran up to me shaking his hand. I got the idea and walked away!
  12. I can imagine there are some stories from today. Such a good breeze around Lincoln today!
  13. The airfield in between Lincoln and Newark. I am sure there is a glider club there, but other than that can you fly there? Also on the A46 heading from Newark to the Saxondale roundabout, you pass an airfield that I have never seen used. Wonder if you could fly there?
  14. Flew a Blade 3 8.5m this afternoon. WOW its got some pull! Light winds with a few gusts, but got some skudding and jumping. Grazed my left shin, grass stains on my shorts, arms aching but brilliant fun. Roll on the Blade IV 4.9
  15. whast bls? I am looking for a camping location this weekend.
  16. Bring your stuff and give them a try!
  17. Within walking distance from the centre of town, I would head to the West Common, 10-15 min walk, Carholme road and keep walking, you will see the old Grandstand cant miss the expanse of grass! Right down the end of the high street, near south park roundabout is the South Common. Plenty of space there as well. On the way to Washingborough, near the Bowling alley and Crematorium is the cow paddle. Not good on Sundays though as its used for Sunday league football. There is a field the otherside of the road from Hartsholme park. Football fields again but should be enough space for a fly. I would say they are your best bets. Once I am up and running with a kite you are more than welcome to hitch a lift should there be any meets out on the coast.
