garykf Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 You sound like someone who's been trying a frenzy on the water Gary? Well it was such a beautiful evening, sun and loads of wind (25ish), saw Bobby ripping in and out of the surf with his 10m Venom and all I had was the 15m G. I figured the 10m Frenzy would be worth a go on the salty stuff. All was going well, until I lost concentration on one run, looped the kite and then it sank!!!!!! Hopefully the wind will be back tomorrow for another late afternoon session:D
ttjoey01 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 hey gary, i have been told i shud upgrade to an ark to go with my new board have you any advice for me coz i dont realy know:o aidy.....................
JohnDave Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 I can reccomend it Joey, lifty kites, good depower, it brought on my landboarding loads. You're welcome to have a go on mine sometime. Best thing about an arc is they're so stable in the air, worst thing is they can be a pain to launch and land. John

garykf Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Aidy: depower is the way to go and you will learn loads more on the board and fly for longer. Are you comfortable flying on the harness with your current kites.???? Best thing to do is try a few out before you decide to buy. Your more than welcome to try out my Frenzys and Guerillas. Dont be put off by the sizes, a good allrounder would be around the 13m size. JDE and Fredbone (John and Chris) both fly that size and they have come on fantastically(!!!) Plus............you'll love the airtime mate:D
Bobby Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Fantastic session out till 9 - that big wind lessend thro. the evening - out on the 10 but should've really brought the 13. Had a blast with Chris whos now up and away on his board - nice one dude. Sorry you ended up with a blue and white sponge G. - still think your 15 may have been OK. Cheers for the pointers on getting upwind Kev - thinking I was getting somewhere tonight. Need to capture your tricks on camera, did try a few jumps and landed a few little'uns but nowhere near your height. Saw Phil doing some really good extreme stuff too. The lagoon was spectacular tonight with the sun and wind, really was so so good - watched it fill and managed to get in first followed by Chris and then all the experts piled in. Some of these guys are so good to watch and learn off. Cheers to the guy who let me have a go on the Jamie Pro - great board, 127 compared to my 159 Flydoor - still easy to get up on but soo different to ride. Looks like we could be in for it tomorrow, and Friday and Saturday and Sunday - ohhh my aching body.....must rest.....yeah right .
SandMonster Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Top evening on the land too ;) nice n warm and DRY...smooth sandbanks...25 ish mph...only 3 other buggies out...
Bobby Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Top evening on the land too ;) nice n warm and DRY...smooth sandbanks...25 ish mph...only 3 other buggies out... If I didn't know better I'd be thinkin you'd be a little bit jealous of your liquid powered brethern Mike . I saw those envious glances at the water . Let yourself go, climb into a clammy wettie and immerse yourself little one :D.
garykf Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Cheers to the guy who let me have a go on the Jamie Pro - great board, 127 . That could of been Jim....one of the original Manchester Kiters , who is now turning into a radical beach bum....(and a pretty good mathmetician!!) Back on the beach around 4ish:)
kevob Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Cheers for the pointers on getting upwind Kev - thinking I was getting somewhere tonight. no probs mate:) you were doing fine to start with but started to loose ground a bit when the wind dropped, think you just need to go out a bit more powered 16m = 15-25mph 13m = 20-30mph 10m = 25-40mph got a board for sale if anyones interested underground wave tray 142 x 40 good size for learning and light wind £200

BTW, those going to the beach this weekend may wish to plan their route to avoid the airfield.... http://www.woodvale-rally.org.uk/01_home.htm alternatively you might want to pop in on your way. NKG will have a presence I believe...
nolan Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Nic's decided she fancies a stab at landboarding. Anyone got a cheap 2nd hand board that they'd like to part with?
Guest appo Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 bob monkhouse has a few kicking around at great prices i thinK??
JohnDave Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Nolan Fredbone (Chris) is selling his furnace creek, don't know if it's gone yet, I think he may have put it on ebay? Or maybe ask Bobby, but I don't think he'll remember what one is John
Bobby Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Nic's decided she fancies a stab at landboarding. Anyone got a cheap 2nd hand board that they'd like to part with? Be great to see more of Nic on the beach . Had an old Kheo but sold that to Graham M. Won't probably part with my Comp 6 Pro for the time being - full of spiders webs at the moment, you never know, the sea may one day just dry up! Plenty on eBay I suppose, always meeting landboarders down there, I'll ask around. Lovely well powered up session tonight - 13m in a SW 22 - sweet . Kept upwind at last and managed to land a couple of jumps - Phil was setting the example, that guy sure makes it look easy. Started to pee down round 8 so packed up - nice session tho. biggish waves crashed me a few times and only had one little 'oh fk' moment - got a jump just right, went way up and one foot came out the board, had to kick the board off way up and try not to crash down on it, nice rush that one . Forecasting 'proper' NWesterlies tomorrow so it looks like its gonna be a Friday fun day .
kevob Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 well done bobby! just keep it powered will be down myself tomorrow, see you there kev
gingerob19 Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 think there will be any wind tomorrow? xc forcasting sub ten as is has done for the last few days but looks like it's always bin blowing more... thinking of doing a day session before having to leave for work at 2.30...
eeekk333 Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 do u use board straps ? so when u kcik the board it done go miles out to sea? or is that a no no incase it springs back and hits u ? i jsut want to start kite surfing had a go in cornwall with a mate.. looking to by a 12m and a board.. got my 5.3 wet suit
Bobby Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 think there will be any wind tomorrow? ... Just looked at XC Rob - giving it 12->14 NW even the BBC site is giving it 15 NW. Its blown way over forecast these last couple of days, if it does you'll have a ball on the land, if it only blows the forecasted 14 you'd have an even bigger ball with that 16m Boxer on the water Can't get down till after work but maybe have a cunning plan to get down a little earlier . do u use board straps ? so when u kcik the board it done go miles out to sea? or is that a no no incase it springs back and hits u ? i jsut want to start kite surfing had a go in cornwall with a mate.. looking to by a 12m and a board.. got my 5.3 wet suit Hi Chris - long time no speak. I'm still pretty green out on the liquid stuff but if its only blownin a bit I do wear a leash one of those reel retractable ones. Helps a lot when you're learning to grab the board back. If its blowin a hoolie then no, had the leash snap twice off the board in major hoolie wipeouts even had the board stick in the sand, I went flying, and the leash went up and under my legs, the leash unwound and stopped dead with the board stuck. My testicles were not impressed, or rather they were . 5/3 suit - don't come to Ainsdale mate, where the sun always shines, you'd boil away . Say hello to your dad from me .
garykf Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Looking good last night Bobby, saw the jumps and well impressed. Should be down later today, wind looks as though it will be in the 20's again:D Kev: bring the wavetray mate and I'll give it a go, if it gets me up and running then I might be interested in it
Sad Act Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Nic's decided she fancies a stab at landboarding. Anyone got a cheap 2nd hand board that they'd like to part with? Yeh got a second hand Air-s Limited for sale £60 if you want it with 5 spare wheel bearings. Can bring it over this weekend if interested.
big-jon Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 How many locals are up for the Supercup Enduro next weekend? I hope a few of you join in the fun this year or just come up and enjoy the atmosphere? Mike was it your tent that was used at the 'THAT' weekend? If so can we use it next weekend to do the race regsitration in? If anyone is willing to come up and do a bit of marshalling then that would also be appreciated? Thanks
