happypants44 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Where u gonna be and when fellas. new to the area so would like to hook up at some point Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 Well Marty, your committed now I'll get the welcome party organised, just hope the red carpet is long enough to get down the hill...... HappyPants, good to see you pop up again. Not sure where it will be happenin yet, so far only Marty (Rollenrolley) and JustKiteSurf Marty have said they are keen. Your in the west arn't you?? Do you have any preferences?? Troy Quote
scopeman Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Count me in too. Just say where and when. Cheers Don Quote
happypants44 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Hey Troy Am in Newtown but have transport so don't mind where. Weekend is filling up fast tho so might only be able to make it if it is Sunday. I work in Frenchs Forest during the week and was wandering if there is anywhere local good for beach static flying? best way to get the nasty work smell off me!!! Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Well the weather looks crap tommorrow, and the wind looks worse on Sunday...... Looks like we could get a NE'er in the later in the afternoon though. Tried Riverwood last week in a good NE'er and that was terrible so would probably suggest Rooty Hill again as it picks up the NE wind pretty well and a few more people may turn up out there. Hopefully ok with you RE mid week flying spot.....Long Reef reserve isn't too far away from the French's Forest, great spot. Send a message off to Rocket he flies down there quite a bit. Not sure how you will go finding room on a Sydney beach at the moment for a static fly, but you could try the beach down at long reef I am pretty sure they kite surf from there. So late sunday arvo say round 3pm Rooty Hill.......ok with you? Quote
robmueck Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I suggest either Long Reef or Wanda from Sat lunch on. Long way to travel for those out west. Not often that it is the right conditions for these beaches but tomorrow looks good. Both offer very good long runs in a SE. What is good about the beach is being able to hit the water if getting too hot and racing kite surfers. I understand if somewhere out west is chosen. Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Happy to head out anywhere if it's worth the drive and definately keen for a beach run How busy do you think it will be down at Wanda tommorrow?? and how long is the beach? Long Reef is too small for any more than 2 Buggies. One thing to look at tomorrow, there is also a fair bit of rain predicted. If it's Sunday though, it would have to be afternoon due to the wind and would a few more would turn up if it is closer. Quote
robmueck Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Troy When you say the weather looks crap I guess you mean it is looking like rain? Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Rain does usually spoil a good day Quote
robmueck Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 When I say Long Reef I mean the beach. It is about 1km long and therefore room for lots of buggies. Same for Wanda but its about 3-4km long. Low tide is twoish which means there would be plenty of space to buggy from about lunch time till about 4. Rain, well lets not not go in case it rains. If the wind is strong enough we can fly my CQuads wet. Slight hitch for me is I have got all 3 buggies up in Newcastle at the moment. Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 You could always try MUD kiting My last mud kite didn't fly that well If it looks like clearing in the arvo I will head out to Wanda via KitePower (to say hello ) but probably wont make the trip if it doesn't look to be easing. Have plenty of kites Rob but only the one Bug. Your welcome to have a blat - you have 3 buggies now?? Working up the Central Coast now, some bloody fantastic spots up there. Can't wait to take the tools out of the car and put the kiting gear in and check it out in depth! Quote
schmik Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Troy..... it is now your job to compile a list of ALL the land spots up that way. PS, can you checkout the area just north of the entrance? is it all golf course? is there room for us? PS, let me know when you are ready to hit the water. PPS, if you drop in at KP, get yourself a demo of the flysurfer speed2 10m or FS Pulse2 8m. oh.... and get a peranent demo of a ozone instinct. I'll help you fly it at lake tugerah. PPPS, i was at umina yesterday, kitesurfing, the locals are very friendly! sweet spot too. mike Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Damn Mike! I was at Umina yesterday too....you gotta tell me these things!! Alot of my work will be based at the Entrance.....DAMN IT! Over looking the Lake....DAMN IT! Will even probably have time to hit it during the week.....DAMN IT! Looks like plenty of area's North of the bridge, not only that but there are just dozens of huge rec ovals and parks scattered all over the place. Winds up there have been ideal all week, bummer that my buggy wont fit in the car with all the work gear....Might have to blow the dust off my old MBS, hims alittle more compact. I know Steve and KP will definately help me get on the water, lets just hope it's by throwing oodle's of gear at me Gotta say though it is a great part of NSW, so close to Sydney and the people really are great up there. For once I finished a week at work grinning from ear to ear, I have a great job - now it's in the perfect location (besides all the speed camera's!!) In the next few weeks I will cruise around and document some locations. Back to today - things arn't looking as gloomy as predicted yesterday out here ATM. Have a nice wind kicking in too. So is anyone else up for a sesh at Wanda today if it stays fine?? Quote
scopeman Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 if the rain holds off and the winds prevail I may be in for a session today. Wanda sounds fine. I have another weekend off. Two in a row. Don Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 The showers have definately kicked in, scattered as they are. I will keep an eye on it but Wanda is a long drive if keeps up. Have a nice wind though thats one thing, if the showers persist I will probably try the hill. Quote
Sando Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 Troy and anyone else. I am in Sydney for the next week and am looking for places to landboard. I am staying in sutherland at the moment. I am eager to get out and about any day this week. Don't know sydney to well but have a GPS so I can get around if required. This is my first post and I am pretty new to landboarding so lots of area is always better. Cheers Glenn Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 5, 2008 Author Report Posted January 5, 2008 G'day Glenn, Welcome to EK's and Sydney for that matter. Mid week you will have a few more options than the weekend here. Most parks are used for sports and things during the w/e. Looking at getting out this arvo, but a couple have dropped out due to where we were going to meet out at Wanda so not sure where i will end up today. More than likely up at Rooty Hill on CNR Rooty Hill Rd and Eastern Road - that should come up on your GPS. Good spot up there for landboarding with and without a kite. Quote
Sando Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 When you say wanda you mean down at cronulla? Wanda isn't too far away for me. I will have a look at how far away Rooty Hills is. If you give us a time anyone is heading anywhere I can probably see if I can catch up. I warn you all that I am a beginner though! he he Cheers Glenn Quote
robmueck Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 Enjoy the hill troy. I'll pass. As mentioned I don't have my buggy with me at the moment. Don, we will have to try that park on the city west link. I hope to get my buggy/s back soon. Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 5, 2008 Author Report Posted January 5, 2008 Hi Glenn, We are heading out to Rooty Hill this afternoon, it is raining out here at the moment so hopefully if passes for long enough to let us get out there. If this afternoon isn't any good, I might be back out there tommorrow afternoon depending on interest. If you have nothin on head out, we can aleast send you down the hill on your board No worries Rob, catch up soon - sorry I missed your call went out and left the mobile at home Quote
JKS Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 Mud Kite ..... Mud Kite ..... Mud Kite ..... Mud Kite ..... Mud Kite ..... Mud Kite ..... Mud Kite ..... Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted January 5, 2008 Author Report Posted January 5, 2008 No Mud Kites today, the weather was going completely around us this arvo - wetting just about everywhere but the hill.....then one came about 5:45 one came directly through and was time to call it. Marty JKS........Don was pretty disapointed you didn't show today, then I told him that you never show up Will try and find your number from last night and give you a call shortly Was good to meet New EK Member Glenn visiting from Darwin. Hopefully get a chance to catch up again before you head back north ATTN QLD Kiters, Glenn will be heading yourway in the next week or so I believe so sure he would love to hook up with a few up there. How busy do you fella's think it would be down at Silverwater tommorrow?? Or Timbrell Park?? Doesn't look like much wind forcast, alittle more in the late arvo than during the day..... Quote
