Not to clutter this thread]think Nigel bought it off some dodgy internet site somewhere

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I am sure Mark will like his dodgy rep!!

Yes the pig is a quad-liner, called quad piggy by HQ, if you want to look it up.

And as Goshen says, it does fly like a pig!!!

Very hard to control, even for a skilled Rev nut like myself.

I look forward to getting my pink kite out at the Adelaide kite fest in March.

Even Flexi are selling pink kites!

Must be the new seasons colour? :P

Ok. Gav here. I've been into kites for quite a while, and had my first go in a buggy way back in 1994 using 2 deltas stacked together. What can I say, I loved it! I bought the delta stack, then shortly after a flexi stacker (didn't have money for a buggy though). These kites kept my going for a while - still have the flexi stacker!

Then, a few years later (2001) moved to UK for a couple of years. Well the kiting scene over there is quite a bit bigger than here, so I got back into it and bought a Blade 2 4.9, then a Blade 2 7.8m which was promptly upgraded to a Blade 3 8.5 as soon as they came out. I also bought the missus a Flexi Proteam 8 and an Eolo Radsail. So still no buggy, but before I came back to Oz, I bought a flexi buggy from Goshen so that there was one waiting for me when I returned.

Whilst I had a nice job in the UK, it was very quiet and so spent the time on the net looking for kiting info. What I noticed very quickly was that there was not a predominant kiting website that seemed to be used in Australia, and no large kiting communities. So in 2002, I got to work on building up Extreme Kites as you see it here. Ever since it has steadily gained popularity as being 'the' kiting community for Oz (and hopefully it will continue that way :P ).

Life outside of kites.... I'm 28 and married with two kids (Emily is 2.5 years and Hannah is only 1 week old). They're keeping me very busy at the moment

My real name is Luke.

I live in Palm Beach in Sydney, and run a Northern Beaches magazine which has been going for 17 years, I am a pro photographer (I get paid to take photos) I travel a bit up and down the coast shooting surfing contest photography for Surfing Australia. I have been windsurfing since I was 9 years old, lots of sailing too, got into power kites bout 8 years ago, did some kite surfing, I have a issue with one of my hands and it can give way every now and then so had to give the kitesurfing a miss, I still was static flying on the beach for years till I got into kite buggying late last year, am now hooked.

Used to race thundercats (inflatable twin hull boats) in the surf, extreme skier and owned plenty of fast motorbikes, between skiing and the buggying thats all I need these days.

I have a rhodesian ridgeback called simba, he is a great mate, and comes to work with me every day, 34 years old, and just like to go hard and fast no matter what im doing, its great stress relief from work.

My name is Mick. I am 34.

I grew up in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne - studied Geology at Monash.

Since leaving Melbourne in 1996, I lived in Darwin working in gold exploration and mining, and now live in Adelaide. I have relinquished the travel and big bucks of the mining industry and now work as an Environmental Consultant for URS - Australia's leading provider of Environmental and Engineering Professional Services. (hope that doesn't breach the advertising rules!!)

After playing with stunt deltas for a few years, I got into kite buggying in 1999 when I arrived in Adelaide. I never would have joined the sport if it wasn't for the local buggy crew at the time, who were happy to lend me kites and a buggy until I got hooked and bought my own. I have a standard axel PL buggy that fits into my Mazda 323 without any disassembly and 4 buggy foils.

In the last few years, my passion has shifted to kitesurfing. I have 2 boards and 3 G-Arcs. I can remember the first time I stayed upwind, but now I choose to do downwind runs whenever possible. Over the last couple of years, I have only used the buggy 6 times, compared to kitesurfing twice a week.

My involvement in the Adelaide Kite Flyers Association (WWW.AKFA.NET) and the Adelaide International Kite Festival have intorduced me to other aspects of kiting - I have made a few single line kites for when the wind is light, and a line climber/dropper for dropping things (lollies, parachuting teddy bears, etc) from a kite.

I've been happily married for 6 years and now have a 1 year old daughter.

Hey, that's just gratuitous - at least my plug was in context.

But seriously, if you need any environmental investigation, monitoring or remediation work done, call URS.

Did I mention that URS was a sponsor of the Adelaide International Kite Festival this year?

Ok,

Name, Joe

Age, 17

Sport, Freestyle Buggying

Years Kiting, 1

Nationality, New Zealander

Equipment, Blade IV

Flexifoil Buggy

Got into kites via my silly delta that is now broken. Moved onto a PL ST buggy and 5m Rebble. Then got a 6.6 Blade III in from Europe much to my PL sponsored mates horror and got to know that....Then got myself a 4.9 Blade III again to his horror and later sold the Rebble. Know that the blades had arrived i got going in the buggy well and made the descision that buggy jumping was what i wanted to do. After a weekend successfully buggy jumping had a small incident with my 4.9 blade and a 180 to landing reverse (accidentallly).icon6.gif

So after that wrote off my reinforced rear axel i decided it was time to upgrade...bought the shiny new flexifoil buggy...yes the shiny-ness sold it to me....i started to seriously get into the freestyle side of buggying. teamed up with my flexifoil gear i got rather good and am where i am today. Favourite move to date is away from kite sidewinders with a foot out. (Yes Joel i still feel like im going to fall on my faceicon10.gif) Now i have a couple of my own created moves lined up just got to get some wind to try em out.

icon10.gifSo yeah thats me in short and i am teamed up with two mates who also buggy jump...

Whos next...

Hi All, my name's John and I'm a Kiteaholic. I'm just a little bit over 40. All I know is all my aches have moved to the wrong places!!!

I first started kiting when I was very young. I'd sneak out when my parents weren't looking and get it up. I made my first kites as I couldn't get the bought ones to fly...I'd rigged the lines on the wrong side of the kite (single line). I am an Architect by trade which explains the build it yourself bit to some degree.

About 10 years ago my wife got me a delta and a couple of years after that I saw the kitesurfing titles being held in Melbourne and that was when I immediately put it on the to do list...

Took a couple of years but I did. Then not long after hitting the water I saw snow kiting on the net and that became it.

I love kite surfing and I love land boarding but those guys take it to a whole new level in the mountains. I hate to say it but I am obsessed. For me it's like some guys are with cricket. It's not so much about having to do it yourself as just sit back and go..hey that sure is blo>dy awesome. So I wanted to try it.

Now living in the thriving metropolis of Melbourne and knowing the 2 kitesurfing shops on a first name basis I thought it would be a simple matter of getting hooked up with a kite to hit the snow......mmmmmmm.......mmmmmmmm.......I thought wrong!!

If you want anything bigger than a 1m forget it(this was a few years ago and I thought these 2 shops were it, sorry Goshen you weren't in the Melbourne Yellow pages).

I must point out that I've never been obsessed by anything enough in the past to go out and make it my business, but it just p__sed me off so much to not be able to get a kite for the snow in Melbourne! And the rest is history.

Second girl Gypsy arrived 6 months ago and has prompted the move back to Tassie to be closer to my girls grandparents and my nan who is well on her way to the mighty ton. Hope to see a few of you get down here and give me a shout as there are some great wide wet sand beaches, lots of rolling paddocks and lots of flat plateau snow fields!!!

Cheers

John

Still making things on occasion generally my own designs for festivals etc, don't like 'stick' kites so much.

Started flying traction about 2 years ago, I is a chicken livered buggier.

I ride a ride a mid size bike so have a certain amount of respect for what gravel rash can do to ones complexion

I'm a member of the QKS, I do their site even, when I get time. 2 kids, mortgage, long suffering husband, what else do you need to know.

Golden Thread Mr Lick :D

My name is Marty and I like many others .... am a kite-a-holic.Unlike my username I like ANY sort of kiting. I started a little over a year ago and have never looked back (unless I am turning). Somehow I have accumulated 9 kites, surfboard, landboard, windmeter, gps, wetsuit, harnesses, spares galore but there is still HEAPS of room left in the house so I have to fill it up.

I am 37 or something :D, have been with the good little lady for 17 years and maried for 15. I have 2 little tackers (boy 9 nd girl 12) which often come to the beach with me. I managed to smash the wife in a gust (my fault):o so I am working on her slowly but the kiddies set up there kites now and the boy is keen to landboard. I work in the construction game which actually was the reason I got into the whole kiting thing. I was working away in central QLD for 6 months building stuff ...... with nothing to do but work and drink beer I had to fill in my afternoons .... so about 2 weeks into the 6 months I hooked up with Baggsy and then spent 5 1/2 months working, kiting and drinking beer. I reckon I managed at least 5 days a week for the whole time. What gets me thought is that I am the kite junky but my wife scores a job with Kiteflix.com !!!!! (kinda cool though)

I used to climb as well .... like a few others in here but the clicks, cracks and dislocations became a little too much so I had to stop. I have worked in the pub game for years as well but now my goal is to retire as early as possible and persue my interests ..... kiting and resting.

I find kiting awesome, uneal, rewarding, challenging, educational, humbling, scary, exciting blah blah blah.

I love a good laugh and try to spend most of my non working time in a non serious state. Smile at the wallys and shake your head at the villans ......

Hope to see you all on the beach/water/park

Happy Day

ok my name is Brendan and i live in darwin (mostly all my life) first got into kiting when i was 10 yo flying a little one liner then it got eaten by a dog (first kitemere)

then many years later brought a PKD buster 4.0mtr and a PL buggy mk1 at this time there was basically no one flying traction kites in Darwin so i taught my self how to kite no one told me how bloody addictive kiting is i have now got over 5 kites. and my new edition is the Libre Super Truck II which should be arriving any day now. in Darwin we have a kiting ban on all beaches here in Darwin and a few of us a getting together to resolve this stupid issue. Any way i will stop there cos it just shits me to tears

yeah i work as a carer working in disability's (challenging behavior) and i go out and work in communities all around the NT I'm 31 yo

My name's Eoin, I'm a 21y.o. bris based kiter.

I work for an engineering company as a fire and security services designer for new and refurbished buildings, also run a contract building design service to fund my kiting addiction.

Been kiting for about 8 years (started with deltas and two liners) and got the traction kiting virus about 3 years ago when i made the move to 'vegas.

Presently buggy, landboard, kayak-kite, kitesurf ,snowkite (when the weather is a tad colder), cable ski, bodyboard and rock climb. Dead keen to move into paragliding when funds and my "understanding" girlfriend allow...

Pretty interested to find out about landkiting meets and competitions around QLD so if anyone knows of anything let us know.

At the moment I'm flying Peter Lynn Arc840, PKD Buster 4m, Ozone Frenzy 04/7.3m, Slingshot B2/B3's, Liquid Force M80 12m. Riding Peter Lynn MkII buggy, Scrub Vapour landboard, K2 Commanche Ski's, Caution Santa Fe 132 and Sol Spirit 135.

Thanks to Troy for getting the thread started and for all contributing. Goodwinds

KB .... if I get as far as Darwin I will definately give you a yell.

At the moment I will be heading up about every 2 weeks but I go Brisbane ... Cairns ... Normanton ... Mornington Island and then Doomadgee. My company is building houses for the Indgenous folk and I am the lucky bugger who has to go do the constuction reports. (Dont get me wrong) I dont mind the ppl and the towns its the shitty little planes and the tiny little airports that give me the willys.

Had a 40 min stop in Mornington island that grew to 2.5 hours when the captian informed us that a crack had been discovered in the right propellor and we had to wait for an engineer in Townsville to 'inspect' the 'photos' before we could take off !!!:eek::eek: To make matters even more interesting when we did get the word to go I find out that my seat had been changes to be right besi the prop. What a relaxing 2.5 hours back to Cairns that was ................

Okay here is my two cents. My name is Steve Howell (Howie) 39 years old. I used to ride trail bikes and had a rally car in my yonger days when I had cash. I have also done a lot of water & snow skiing and some surfing over the years. Then I got a morgage and married I have two boys Lachlan 6 & Ben 3 and one on the way ordered for early FEB 08. I running my own business bobcat and tipper "Dig 'N Tip" I have worked in supervisory positions over the past 17 odd years. But early next year will be just focusing on running "Dig 'N Tip":yes3:

I have only just started getting into power kiting thanks to Dan_ok. Had one turn then was hooked had to get one bought it on the quiet :secret: Told wife (Quote) It just arrived for me I will have to keep it, it needs a home. But at the moment I'm having trouble getting out as much as I would like. I'm Building a buggy at the moment and have had a few rides in one and just loved it. I have also taken to looking at trees and the weather forcast. Funny how one thing can change the way you look at the world :yes3: nomally I would not give to hoots about the wind and what it is doing. Have told a few mates about flying kites and have put it put in the back yard a few time just to show them ( have a few acres ). It's funny how they stop calling you a big kid when they see it up and the power that they can create.

Anyway thats me

Ps. always looking for some place near home to get out and get advice on what to do and what not to do.:D:D:D

Thanks and may the wind gods be kind
