Ivanpah Buggy Expo 2016 (IBX formally NABX)
"This is an event by and for the kite traction community and to include all others that enjoy the power of the wind.  Everyone that attends, adds their personality to the community on the playa.  When you leave, you’ve shared a bit of yourself and gained something from the rest of us (and maybe a little dust)."IBX2016 Website: http://www.ivanpahbuggyexpo.com

Discussion thread for the IBX2016 Event.  Not sure if there's any Australians going this year but it would be good for us to get planning to make an appearance the following year now that some of us have The Moose Meet as our 2016 international trip.

Thanks for posting Joel.  IBX is on my absolute bucket list.  I got to buggy a couple of days there in November and it is everything you'd hope it would be for a wind-sport location.  About a 6-7 hour drive for me; piece of cake.  :crazypilot:

This wonderful event is slated to start next week!

A whole mess of us that hang out on PKF are heading that way, some are already there!  I'm heading down first thing Monday morning (about a 7-hr drive).  Getting my stoke on!

Winds Monday are slated to be in the 30s up to 40 mph.  Yowsa!  I've been planning for conditions such as these and had Steffen Born make me a custom 1.5m NS3.  I've got both a standard 20m line set and a 7m set rigged up on bars so hopefully I'm loaded for bear!  I've got a 2.5m and 3.2m NS3 too should the little wasp prove underpowered.

Just got back late last night (OK, midnight) from IBX.  It is still ongoing through Saturday.  What an event!  Great thanks extended to Bob, Brian, Murray, and the whole gang that made it possible.  Wonderful people doing what we all love, outstanding buggy and land sailing location, and some very passable wind!  Tami (utahtami on PKF) set the woman's buggy land speed record on Monday clocking in at a verified 58.8 mph.  She's a friend and we buggied together a fair amount this week.  That is to say, we'd both be out on the playa at the same time and I'd be thinking that I was going really fast and she's repeatedly rip past me again (and again, and again!).

I've got a fair amount of helmet positioned GoPro footage that I will work on by and by and get some postings up.

For me I found my go to kites were my Flysurfer Peaks.  The week was varied enough in winds that I was able to get a lot of use out of my 4m, 6m, and 12m.  Twice I had the 9m out of the bag ready to unfurl only to decide to size down to the 6m @jhn.holgate proverbial "cheeseburger wrapper".  Both times it proved to be the wiser decision.  Live to ride another day!

Four things set the Peak2s apart in my quiver for Ivanpah:  1) super easy to launch from the playa in the middle of nowhere when you find yourself in a temporary dead spot; 2) the little ball that slides down and hold the bar in place at just the right level of DP thus allowing just fingertips on the bar for minutes at a time on long hauls; amazing amount of DP with the bar pushed all the way out making it possible to scrub virtually all power as needed; and, 4) the clam cleat adjuster which came in handy a few crucial times when I had the 12m in the air and the wind shifted and got a WHOLE LOT stronger.

Nice one , Steve.  Got the Cheeseburger, Junior Burger and the Big Mac!!  What a spot.

Tried to fly the 9m Big Blue three times but each time put it back as the wind would start to really spank. It just wasn't to be!  Each of those times I put the cheeseburger wrapper up and was glad I did.
