nigel Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 But is it faster than a Phantom!!!! And with little lift??? I want a speed machine, not a freestyle machine. Quote
Baggsy Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 nice looking kite.... a bit of a disapointing movie.. bit light on in the wind depaertment. it is never nice to see a kite fall from the sky after a jump .. :? i would have liked to see it at full power and launching the ATB into the elements!! norwester Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Last weekend @ my local boarding beach in Christchurch NZ i was lucky enough to be there with some of the local Peter Lynn boys (i live on the town where there factory is in Ashburton) they had 2 of the new scorpions out ,but they were the prototypes so they were not in all thier colourful glory 2 of the local fellas were buggying with them (both are from Peter Lynn)and they were fizzing about them ......personally im a Blade man but who knows ???? they were very impressive in the air bigggggggggggggg lofty jumps if i get some more info or pics i will post some for my fellow kiters from over the dich.......... Jason Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Hopefully we will be getting a demo Scorpion for our Bribie Island buggy day on the 25th Feb. If I get a fly sooner I will post my impressions. Jason Quote
Andy Mac Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 But is it faster than a Phantom!!!! And with little lift??? I want a speed machine, not a freestyle machine. Hey Nigel - if you really wanted speed you wouldn't be flying sun shelters and air mattresses Quote
norwester Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Ha ha ha ha or sleeping bags ........................ Quote
nigel Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Andy, bag the C-Quads, and the red lilo (6m Phantom),all you like. I am sure you can vouch for their speed on more than a few occasions. I am looking at the Scorpion for a two kite quiver, to just cruise with. De-power has proved it's usefulness in several situations. Quote
Zenon Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 As Norwester was saying i is one of those guys luckey enough to fly a Proto.... ..................................Lift...........................Speed............................Awesome...................................But ill still keep flying my baldes. SHEPPO3930 Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 will it be water-relaunchable?? Quote
Robbo Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 yeah but due to the higher aspect like that phantoms will make it harder than say a venom or vortex to water relaunch Quote
blizzad Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Hey guys, PL pimp here. And yes it is true that I flown one of the proto scorps. (the 13mtr) It's revolutionary. My first comment was "it's quick," you just can't escape the flying speed. Bar pressure is really light for the turns generated. Lift is SOOO floaty. Far nicer to freestyle with than any other arc (I use vortexes, G2s, Venoms and now Scorpions for freestyling in the buggy) It just places you on the ground, no stalling or maxing out like on the G2. It's just taken everything to a new level for me. As for speed... it will go SO far into the wind. I'm amazed. It just keeps flying upwind. It blows everything out of the water. Depowering, just changes the entire kite, no more edging against the kite to kill speed/power. It's so good for cruising. FAR superior to the phantoms and venoms. Relaunch is good. About the same as a phantom, if not slightly better. Easy as pie so long as you know what you are doing. as for photos and videos. We will be getting some after this weekend's flying (as we just got the production models in NZ). hopefully the wind is cranking at 20-25 knots and we can produce some big jumps, and capture them on film.
