jtshort42 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Thanks guys, I will take you up on the offer if thats okay, will be down Ainsdale when the weather looks okay, as I said before only live in Formby so if weather is pants then not wasted any time or travel, I cant wait to try depower as I have always looked on when me and my little Beamer 2.5 struggled to get some traction. The Blade II 4.0m was actually my first ram air kite and I was gobsmacked by is power. The Firebee had problems with luffing but I did some research and adjusted the briddling to inrease LE angle of attack, seems to work but takes a fare bit of wind to get going but is now solid at the edge. I have used 4 line bars and felt quite comfortable with them. See you soon, thanks again for the offers. Jeff Quote
jtshort42 Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 Just taken a chance and went to Ainsdale, no body there but I got stuck in the sand. Got out eventually but the clutch stinks. Not a good start for me. See you soon Quote
Bobby Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 A guy I know down there with a Tonka toy of a 4*4 regularly pulls Ainsdale quicksand victims out the mire. Low gear and plenty of speed and I've only sunk once. It's a complete pain in the ass and no reply yet to my grumpy ratespayer letter to the council on the subject. On a distinctly brighter note ... Sat'dy is looking pretty cool for all you able bodied folk. Lovely jubbly mid teens blowin' bang onshore with a bluebird sky and HT around 11. I'll be the dude in the chair supping the nectar playing shutter jockey and laughing at you nutters when it all goes pear shaped Is it wrong to get a plaster cast wet Quote
PaulLaurie Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Is it wrong to get a plaster cast wet Don't think getting it wet will be so bad but is the plaster going to prevent your Glastonbury tent erection Quote
Bobby Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 No Glasto this year Paul - daughter is a Teach and can't get the time off and 3 out of 4 of the guys I go with were made redundant at Xmas. So it's a TV fest for me this year. With this break I suppose I'm glad I ain't going - you can't roll in the mud, party till 4 and then pear cider yourself into unconsiouness without making this into a permanent disability. ....and 12 hours in the motor like last year really, really pissed me off against Eavis and the shambles that is the Glasto organisational commitee. It's been simmering for years but I've grown to hate the crap attitude to the fee paying lowly festival punter. I was sad to give the tickets up but now I've come through the grief I'm really not the slightest bit bothered. Strange really. Satd'y is still holding out and getting a sunnier forecast each time I punch it up Been thinking of Captain Hook like contraptions to facilitate my left paws grip on the bar. No. 1 at the mo is a flat plastic plate with a curved end which straps round my forearm and hooks over the bar. Its from a bracket which keeps youir washing machine hoses tidy. Got an icy look and a shake of the head from the blonde but with a few scrapheap challenge details to overcome this looks like a winner . Quote

jtshort42 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I will be down roughly abut 13:00 to try some depower kit. @ Bobby: when I was stuck nthis guy came up in his 4 x 4 and said " I will tow you out for fiver because the petrol is expensive in these things " hmmmmm matybe if he stopped driving up and down the beach he would save on petrol. Quote
SandMonster Posted June 12, 2010 Author Report Posted June 12, 2010 Probly wait 'til 1 to set off - give the beach some time to dry out:cool: Quote
PaulLaurie Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Great day, cheers for the beer Bobby, goes down well as always. Jeff, did you make it today? spoke to a few people I hadn't met before but guess not you. Entrance certainly is a bit of a nightmare, they will be stuffed on the next realy hot weekend. Good to get back out Quote
jtshort42 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Yes, was there from about 2 ish, in nissan note dark red. I was wearing some rather bright red, white and black shorts and grey hoodie. best of all was I finally tried a depower thanks to Mark. I always thought that these kites in wind like today were going to be to powerfull, how wrong I was and compared to handles it was so easy. Normally the fore arm muscles ache after a while on handles but not using depower, I am definately converted. I want to buy a harness first so at least I do not need to borrow, then I can possibly try other kites before purchase, can anyone recommend a good brand. Jeff Quote
