efff Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 anybidy know what its like in winter does the beach still drain properly or does it stay muddy and horrible thinking of giving it a try this weekend instead of ainsdale cause it will be less busy Quote
SandMonster Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 I think its ok any time of the year if you get the low tides & it doesn't rain. Best person to ask is Alex. Why is it going to be busy @ Ainsdale...last few times I've been its been empty? Quote
carltb Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Has this something todo with me getting banned?? Quote
efff Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 i prefer knott end its bigger and you dont have the beach police or scallies in cars racing round the car park, @carl i saw what happened to you and the guy in the landrover was a cock was a stupid thing to do he could have just came over when you stopped adn had a word, and there isnt much difference in distance really from manchester, might just go for a drive this weekend and check it out Quote

JohnP Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum - this is my second post (after one in the Ainsdale thread). I'm just getting going on my land board with 4m flaxifoil kite, so pretty much a beginner! I've been over to Fleetwood once, and was deserted, but found the sand really soggy, making getting going tough. I was pretty much right in front of the Hangtime shop. Is there a better palce to kite? When I went it was deserted, but it does get busy, and is there anything I need to know about no-go areas, restrictiosn etc? (I'm going to sort BKSA insurance now anyway). Cheers JP Quote
chorleymatt Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 ainsdale/southport cant go wrong there just chek tide times for wen u go first coz there quite high in winter. Quote

Land based flying is banned at Lytham/Blackpool, but there's moves afoot with the new kitesports place (TRAX?) Fleetwood club have a website & facebook page for events meets etc. Log in | Facebook Quote
mrphil Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 hi, ok l've read all this thread and still not got an answer, so here is my question.... What's the limit with the high tide at Knott End? l know up here in morecambe its about 8.5m. Is it the same down there. Oh yeah l'm on a buggy \o/ Cheers. Quote
rob91193 Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Has this something todo with me getting banned?? what happened then? Quote
Hammer-n-saw Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 hi, ok l've read all this thread and still not got an answer, so here is my question.... What's the limit with the high tide at Knott End? l know up here in morecambe its about 8.5m. Is it the same down there. Oh yeah l'm on a buggy \o/ Cheers. Yeh, its the same, but dont bother with Knott End/Pilling Sands as its nice and quiet, thats probs why there hasnt been an answer as it needs to be kept quiet,..and now ive blown it avnt I. Quote
mrphil Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 oh well the cats out the bag now then. ;-) l went to BLS this evening and for me it wasn't that good. still a little damp from high tide and the wind if you call it wind was coming from the east... l think need a bigger kite now too. l've been told that wind direction at Knott is not a problem as its very in the open!! l think l'll have to go have look soon. Thanks Hammer-n-saw Quote
Hammer-n-saw Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 When its wet at BLS, expect it to be wet at Knott End/Pilling Sands too though. There are no channels like at BLS but when the tide is out like at BLS its just as good for size and play area. Easier to take a buggy on to the beach too, just a slipway in the town center ( not the ferry one !), unlike the grassy bit at BLS. Middleton Sands is also good, and requires the same conditions, and you used to be able to drive onto the beach too. Maybe a visit there first. Quote
mrphil Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Yeah l've been to Middleton twice and both times it was very wet. Yes you can drive on to the beach but after seeing that 4x4 at BLS l think l'll give that a miss. even tho l have a 4x4 Jeep. If you haven't already guessed, am new to this kiting/buggy world so the info l'm getting from you and this forum is a god send. Now l know that if one beach near me is wet then they all are. Anything over 8.5m and l may as well not bother wi the bug, unless l put all the wet gear on but it's not as much fun then... Thanks again. And maybe, just maybe, there might be another BIG BLS meet again some day.... ;-) Quote
olo Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 ... BIG BLS meet again some day.... ;-) Friday or Saturday? Quote
mrphil Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 anyone at knott end today? if you are come and say hello. l'll be there most of the day if the sands are dry... Quote
