garc Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 ouch...fook me that was a raw nerve...hear what you're saying though. I've always fancied a North West tour...might be this winter by the looks of it !! Does this mean it's officially changed from "The Massive" to "Give it a Missive" Quote
Andy C Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 To be fair although the regs are a bit of a pain it doesn't bother me that much, it isn't that difficult to trek a bit and keep away from the zone. Just a shame it isn't done in a less Hitleresque fashion, and with a bit more common sense, like for instance 1 guy teaching a noob doesn't actually need an entire lagoon.... Still a great spot in my humble opinion, and I mostly don't have the time to trek to other places so I'm stuck with it....! Quote
KiteItRight Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 agrre rules a regs are fine i dont have a problem with that personally Quote
carltb Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 oh yeah the other thing that annoyed me the other day was, i was landboarding near the carpark but in the traction zone when i did a unhooked jump. i landed hot so road it out. but horror of horrors, id gone about 5m out of the zone past the carpark. within seconds the ranger who had been sitting at the edge of the carpark, came screaming towards me and pulled up 10m downwind of me. my kite was still unhooked and was starting to stall, so i shouted at him to get the fuck out the way, and to my amazement he started to reverse towards my kite!! i had a vision of him reversing right back and ploughing into my kite then pulling me with it down the beach! i screamed at him again and thank fuck he stopped. the thing is if he hadnt of been a twat and rushed over to give me some shit, i would have got my kite hooked back in, under control and back within the zone within seconds instead of having my life put in danger by an over zealous official. Quote
dj-jt Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 yea it seems the rangers are going hard on this winter and its a shame as for me personally i can see it gets to them and i go past just to see the lights flashing and how there faces are in the van. If they just left us alone we would be fine and only go into the zone to get back upwind its not like we are putting people in danger. Or the easiest option would be to open the summer zone to kiters only so we are away from the stupid bird zone and even worst chris Quote
Andy C Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Such a simple solution - permit = still able to park at the Summer end, we would be out of everyones way and we're all happy then. The rangers then know all the cars at that end = kiters so easy to check up on as well. Quote
dj-jt Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 yea its the perfect solution keeps us out of trouble and keeps them from sitting there doin nothin but flashing at us hahahahaha Quote
aworm Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Andy-have talked about that for the last 10 years. There are issues re staffing(less Rangers in the Winter to manage the beach) and apparently ecology.... Quote
grant965 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 carl what happened the other time? pm me ! ive only been ainsdale once but when i go again how do i recognise the rangers? Quote
Duderino Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Such a simple solution - permit = still able to park at the Summer end, we would be out of everyones way and we're all happy then. If its easy for us to understand, then to them its like a martian language. Quote
brassneck Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 could be wrong but dont they already allow the fishing guys to go pretty much anywhere? seen them parked up way way beyond any zones, barriers, lines in the sand etc?? Quote
kiteingcolin Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 maybe the whole system needs to be talked about round a table with a good cup of hot common sense, the short car park is in anybody’s book far to short when the winds are in the west or south, when your out to sea trying to fix a visible transit to shore you soon realize it's crazy hard to do, and I know how to fix a transit point, but there is a lack of visible markers, and when the tide is out its even more difficult, added to this is the suspicion that the sailing area has been unduly shortened, so a nagging little Voice in my head keeps saying to me why why why, over and over, why make the sailing area so hard to stay happy with, its always a worry, and the "danger ranger" thoughts are there all the time whilst sailing, and when its raining, windy, and no one around, no beach life at all, then as you see the rangers ready to drive over and flash you, again I am left thinking why why why?? its hard for me to enjoy a sail, I do not want to fall foul of the rules, but some times I believe the rules make no common sense, and when that feeling dominates your time out on the sea then its time to either go away and find elsewhere, take the offensive view and attack the system, and risk a ban, or ask for a full review with that great cup of common sense, but who will put the kettle on and invite a sensible breakthrough discussion, or shall we moan about this for ever more, its not just a matter of just simply walking way upwind, its why should I, my wife loves to help and watch from the car, sailing way upwind is nonsense to her, and long fast runs either way is unforgettable and a great buzz at max speed, why turn round when you really don’t see the reason, no rope line, no school in the water, no bird zone for a long way away, no swimmers, no boats, no buoys, nothing but open water, this is a small problem that can be easily sorted if the main decision makers wanted to, and cost would be a few quid for a bit of extra diesel, or maybe less fuel as the wardens would not be tempted to run around in the range rovers flashing lights and getting all stressed themselves. ho hum, far too early for a whisky, Quote
NickOfTheNorth Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 to be honest it's just a liccle bit sad isn't it, from what i can gather the rangers would prefer a world with no kiting! they're a strange bunch. what ever happened to free will? and those bloody tweeters! Grrrr... Quote
Andy C Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I've obviously not had any run ins, or maybe I'm not rude enough, but I have to say although sometimes a little officious the rangers have always been friendly and fairly cheerful in my experience. And very happy to pull people out when they get stuck, not me of course with me 4WD... Quote
dj-jt Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 yea they can be alright people most of the time but its the ones in the office that get up bout the zones and then they are the ones who shorten it. In my honest opinion its a stupid idea and the fact they talk bout less rangers and stuff they never really have anything to do with us untill they are flashing at the waters edge. Quote

nutkins Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I havnt been to Ainsdale for a while now and its all gone crazy. It seems they are having a clampdown for some reason. The only time i have spoken to any of the Rangers there he was asking if i knew anything about an accident that happened the day before. He was pressing me on the matter saying i saw you here. I wasnt sure whether it was his Scouse sense of humour or he was serious. Maybe it is because of the accidents that have happened and they are scared of litigation. Or maybe they just dont want kitesurfers there. Either way, you cant win Carl. No point arguing your case because it will probably make the situation worse. Get yo ass down to Lytham. I know you cant Landboard there but he waters lovely. Plus they seem to be encouraging Kiteing with a new school opening. Quote
