I learnt to kite with Steve at Kimnel. He seems to be building a good community there. A nice guy. I am gonna drive up to Rhos on Sunday with the wife and kids and check it out. Super easy to get to. Straight off the A55. Big expansive bay. Looks like it would work at all tides. Loads of free parking. Looks perfect for an Easterly. If its no good i will take the kids to the welsh mountain zoo.

I was thinking the same thing. I know ligwy works on an easterly but its a narrow beach and a long way away from where i live. Looking at Google maps along the north wales coast, Rhos on Sea looks good but ive never heard of anybody kiteing there. Are there restrictions at Rhos on Sea? Otherwise along with OP, there looks to be alot of wind at the weekend going to waste. Where else in the NW works on an Easterly wind? My wetsuit is getting dusty.

Another thumbs up for ripcurl e bomb front zip. Never leaked in and so easy to get in and out of. Not saying i would never get a back zip wetty again but but you will have no problems with the front zip.

If you piss in your wetsuit then you'll need something to take away the stench - this will do it! And if you piss in your gloves, boots and hoods, you can clean them with it too! Piss Off Wetsuit Disinfectant Shampoo Love it!

I think balloon legs is the technical term for when your wetsuit holds water in the legs. It is really frustrating. Mine seems to fill up every 10 minutes and i have to get out of the water and pull the bottom of the wetsuit to drain it. The wetsuit is a 08 ripcurl e bomb with the chest zip. Cant really justify getting a new wetsuit yet as it is in good condition. Just wondering if anyone else suffers from ballloon legs or has a cure for it? Plus. I am in the market for some new lines for my flexifoil axis bar. Looking on the flexifoil website they are £120 for a full set of 20m + 5m extentions. I always fly with the extentions on so 25m lines are ideal. Just looked on the decathlon website and they are selling Decathlon - KITES lines Tribord - Dyneema lines 250kg 2X25m for £25. Seems a good deal to me. Will these do the job?

Full respect to you Bigbud. I was one of the guys that was going to put up the 12m too. I checked the wind when i hit the beach and it was blowing 17-24. Was borderline 9m or 12m for me so thought i would try the 12m out and see how things went as my mate only had a 12m. After the chat with you when we got to the shore, we decided to put the 12m away and get out the 9m. Not many people would have considered others safety like yourself and i fully appreciate your advice. Now. Where has all the wind gone?

I was surprised to see a landboarder on the beach at st annes on Friday. I take it the ban has been sorted out now?

I might gave a drive up tomorrow afternoon. Is the best place the car park next to asda or futher west towards pensarn? Also is there likely to be anybody else around for a launch?

Its looking like this could be one of the few places to fly tomorrow afternoon. Do many people kite here in the Summer months or is there too many tourists around?

Winds looking good for tomorrow. Shame about the tide times though but i will most likely be venturing up to lytham tomorrow for my first session of the year. Anyone else going for a session tomorrow? Hope i still fit into my wetsuit. Winter warmth you know.

The only place i can see that sells 5th line kits for Flexifoils is kite-kit.co.uk. The 5th line kit is £44.95,then i will need the line and adaptor for each kite,£7 per kite. Gonna have to wait until next payday me thinks. I was thinking. It would be useful to have the mini 5th line in underpowered situations or unhooked, but be able to hook on the decicated 5th line when it gets hairy. Could i have 2 leash attachments with the 5th line kit or do they both go through the bar? The 5th line is purely for safety and im not gonna put any tension on it. Thanks for yopur advice.

I was at Starr Gate. One hell of a scary session. So overpowered on my 9m. Had to get a dog walker to land my kite for me. I need that 5th line on my Atom. Ever muscle in my body is aching at the mo.

I cant agree more. I have got the up most respect for Carl. He has helped me out as a noob so many times too. Always there to hand out advice and help launch and land. It is a shame that this has happened to someone who commands so much respect in the community from everyone i speak to. If i could do anything to help i would do so in an instant. Petitions, lobbying? I suspect that Carl has fell out of love with place which is a shame. it definitely wont be the same. Like i said. If i cant do anything to help i will.

I havnt been to Ainsdale for a while now and its all gone crazy. It seems they are having a clampdown for some reason. The only time i have spoken to any of the Rangers there he was asking if i knew anything about an accident that happened the day before. He was pressing me on the matter saying i saw you here. I wasnt sure whether it was his Scouse sense of humour or he was serious. Maybe it is because of the accidents that have happened and they are scared of litigation. Or maybe they just dont want kitesurfers there. Either way, you cant win Carl. No point arguing your case because it will probably make the situation worse. Get yo ass down to Lytham. I know you cant Landboard there but he waters lovely. Plus they seem to be encouraging Kiteing with a new school opening.

I was thinking about fitting a 5th line but i cant see them for sale anywhere. I am guessing that i would need a new bridle for each kite? Has anyone flown an Atom with a 5th line?

I have a Flexifoil Axis bar that i use with my 08 Atoms. I am not totally comfortable with the safety system with the bar. The leash pulls in about a meter on a mini 5th line which is connected to both of the front lines. This doesnt fully depower the kite but about 80-90%. The problem i have found is that if the kite lands in the power zone then i am stuck unless i can reach to pull one of the back lines in which has resulted in the kite spiralling uncontrolably. Its a dangerous setup really. I was once the last one out in the water with noone to land my kite and nearly got in a mess with friction burns on my hands. Has anybody modded their bar to make it 100% depower when activating the safety? Or i was maybe thinking of putting some metal rings on the leader back lines to make than like o shits.

Curry is good for bad wind days. I enjoyed my afternoon session yesterday at Lytham. I think i left at the right time. The rain came in and then the wind went crazy. Cya again on the beach Bigbud.
