  1. Yeah, there's an 11.5m sabre, but im too light for that just yet i think so i;m gonna hold out for the 9.5. It was definitely an option tho topper99
  2. I think iv exhausted that avenue on the 9.5m Sabre im after... more than a few posts and even a few unhappy campers on there after a bit of chat regarding local industry sales. Cheers for the idea anyway. Topper99
  3. Ah crap, i stayed in bed too long and now i have to go to work. Whats happening tomorrow? anyone out? Iv seen wednesday is going to be averaging about 22 in edinburgh. Any thoughts? Thanks for the understanding eye on the situation. I havent decided either way but i think second hand would suit me here anyway. As longs i can find a good one for a reasonable amount, maybe it'll save my graces when i see u all when i have it? Who knows Ali
  4. Wee Andy, Im more than aware of that and because of that I havent bought one so far because of it. As you might also have noticed, iv been looking at second hand options too. Surely you can also undesrstand that when theres a difference of £150 between one shop and another the morals and ethics of where you buy become much more difficult. I understand that Stuart has a living to make and that me going somewhere else to buy my stuff is perhaps rude especially when iv asked for his advice and borrowed his kites, however i bought my Bullet 3.5 from Windthings a couple of years ago and have always been happy with the service i received which is why i would ideally like to do a similar thing now. Unfortunately tho at the moment i cannot afford the difference on a new kite. Does this mean that im banned from getting advice from windthings and its staff? Does it mean that i cannot buy one at all until such times as i can afford the £650 that windthings is asking? And if i did buy from PKS would i be looked upon unfavourably by local kiters for not supporting the local trade? My point is that I would love to honour the salesmanship that iv received from windthings by going to them for all my equipment, however when we're talking bout £150 i just doubt i'll be able to do that. If i can find a second hand one then i will, and if it bothers people that i may go elsewhere to buy new then I will understand this if i am refused the lending of a kite to try. I cannot say fairer than that. Trust me i'd love to buy from windthings but im not flush with money and i'll go where i can afford at the time. Surely as iv returned to windthings from previous sales it shows that i have some sort of loyalty to the store, but it no way means that i have to return for all my purchases. I hope you and the staff of windthings can understand my dilema and if nothing else will still be as friendly as iv always encountered. Im sorry if iv caused anyone any ill feeling, it has never been my intention and will understand any reprocussions due to this. If there are any more questions, i hope you'd talk to me about it as i'm not in the business of offending people. Topper99
  5. Wow, what an insight!!!
  6. Does anyone have any inside knowledge as to if big name shops will be doing after xmas sales on big name kites like the sabre &/ frenzy? Should i wait for that or fork out the $ now and get what i want sooner? Topper99
  7. Just thought there Ross, I went into the shop yesterday and spoke to Stuart about testing a 9.5 if there was one about. Can u get ur hands on one because im hoping to buy one and id prefer to try the one id like to buy if u know what i mean. Cool, lets hope its windy... but not too windy!! he he Ali
  8. Ah man, i gotta work at 6pm but im cool until then i think. But until then i'm good to go i think. what time you thinkin of headin n where from? Ali
  9. Anyone with a 9.5m Sabre want to come flying sometime this week so i can have a go, its been suggested to me that frenzys arent necessarily the best thing since sliced bread and i'd like to see that proved right. Ali
  10. Ah crap! I forgot to check the forum before going into uni today. I have no transport now to get there other than a 26 bus which im guessing will take a day or so from haymarket! Always an arse gettin somewhere with a kite on a bus. lots of folk lookin at what u're carrying. I'll be looking at going again sometime soon. trying to buy a frenzy 9.5m atm so i'll be needing to give it a wurl when it comes. Ali
  11. How much are they nowadays?
  12. Anyone else?
  13. I think what im worried about is spending about 300 quid on a kite which im not going to be happy with. Do you think there are alternative depowerable options out there for similar money or is this going to be my best bet for a good while? The 05 seems to be out of my price range otherwise i would definitely have gone for it, hence my starting this thread.
  14. Iv just read a review of the 04, apparently its prone to luffing at the edge of the window quite a lot and also on landing jumps, is this the case?
  15. But is that cos you've tried them both?? Im guessing so. For someone who hasnt, the 04 is still a good kite right? Topper99
  16. So all in all there arent any drastic changes. however the leashless safety is there but i assume if i find this a hastle, i can always change it for a newer one?
  17. Ok, here's my dilema. Iv been tracing (what i thought was a 05) frenzy 9.5m for the last couple of days. I then decided that it was a good thing to go for, for the price. Iv just spoken to the guy im thinking of buying from (muffy --> sounds like a top chap) and he's made me realise my mistake in reading 04 as 05! bug**r i hear u all cry! So my question is, having a background of a 3.5 03 bullet and a mk3 4.9 blade, am i going to notice any problems with going for the 04 version or should i hold off and try get an 05 or a Sabre instead? Iv tried to do some self comparisons but having never seen nevermind flown an 05 frenzy & im unsure as to whether it'll be suitable for my needs. Are there much noticable improvements between the two versions of the same kite!? Im a landboarder weighin in at an incredible 12 stone and have been flying for a wee while now. Any thoughts would be helpful as Muffy is waiting on my response. Muchas grassy ass Topper99
  18. Yeah cold would have been the word i would have described it by. Nice bit of flying. Shame my mate couldnt get his blade up... one of those days i think. Well funny when i saw him launch the bar at the kite in rage which followed shortly by "burn the ba**ard!"... tut tut! Either way know iv found this ere webgroup i'll b sure to be seeing u all again on some trips. We'll have to see. Especially if the new mota (aka frenzy 9m) turns gets bought!! wohoo! Caio caio fae now! Ali
  19. when u bought ur kites, did u get them new off the best kites website and have them shipped over? iv visited their site and notice that they're dirt cheap, but then there's p+p over to the uk. oh not forgetting the posibility of import tax too. What do u think? would it be cheaper to get them from the uk?
  20. Whats the deal with Best kites. They any good? Im a intemediate flyer and want to get into the kitesurfing division. Are they worth the pennies or is there something else around that better for my money? Topper99
  21. I know that cotswold outdoors on Oxford road do kites of the flexi variety but i dont know if they're a main stockist or what. Snow n rock also do stuff like that too. there's a new one of those near Didsbury, but you'll have to check the address yourself for that. Topper99
  22. For anyone with knowledge of Edinburgh, does anyone know of anywhere decent to fly within the limits of buses in the city? There used to be loads of space on Meggetland park behind Slateford station but thats all being dug up now. I know of Inverlieth Park, and Holyrood park, but both are quite small (well i think so) and can be quite blustery at times. Since my knowledge of streets and stuff is pretty crap, and anyone does know of anywhere that is ideal for boarding then maps too would be great. Cheers Topper99
  23. You had to use a bin bag?!?£"$£^?????? Whats wrong with just jumping that high? you mean you cant??
  24. There's a place called Fogg Lane Park funnily enought on Fogg Lane in manchester. Go down wilmslow road until approaching east Didsbury. Fogg lane park is on the left hand side. Ask anyone in Didsbury where Fogg Lane is and they'll show u. Shed loads of room there. Gotta watch for scallies tho! dont leave your gear out on its own cos some lil ***t WILL knick it! Edinburgh's good for kitin. I mean there's Windthings for a start for all your flying needs (Im not to trying to get any sort of sponsorship here, u understand). Lots of open space. Lots of wind.. ...sometimes and an awesome nightlife. Plus its not far from big places like west sands at St.Andrews and also Troon on the West coast via Glasgow. Dont just go for the kiting tho bud. even if its ur life right here. there's always something else thats gonna take your fancy too, so try to look for the whole picture. Topper99
  25. Was that Midlothian Ski centre? Who did u speak to? Topper99
