Nope, I was thinking about it when I found a pair of terraskates. They look like they might be quite hard on the ankles cos of the height the axles are off the ground. Terraskates are tough enough and they are much closer to the ground. You ought to be able to locate a pair of second hand skates to try it though. Our local charity shop had some a couple of weeks back (gone now). I thought about buying some cheap ski bindings and making some up using them and a pair of ski boots instead too. Pretty sure that would work well enough. Loki

A troll is a post that is sent out just to get a reaction. Used twice, sold for £90 and has a seatbelt? Something doesn't sound right. You can't buy seatbelts you have to design and fit them yourself, or talk a mate into doing it for you. Anyone who is prepared to go to this length would probably : a) not buy a buggy thay are only going to use twice b) knows how and where to get more than £90 for a new flexi. I guess I'm just overly suspicious, in which case you really have hit lucky. I wouldn't remove the footstraps, by the way. I think they are useful right from the start. If you hit a bump and one foot slips off, then having footstraps can mean that you keep control of the steering long enough to get your foot back in. Your choice though, as getting yanked out of the bug with a foot still caught is potentially dangerous. Loki

I'm hoping I can make it so that I wouldn't even notice it was there whilst I'm flying. There would only be a short length of cord from chicken loop to seatbelt release. The only annoying bit would be having to reset it.. Iain

Not sure I understand this fully. Does the spreader bar fasten across your lap so it acts as a belt? And how does releasing one end release the kite? I would have thought that there would be a danger of it staying on the hook. I think I would rather avoid attaching the kite to the buggy other than via me. I would be most interested in seeing how the system works though. Any chance of a pic? Loki

Absolutely right on the pushing ourselves and getting better bit. Not quite right on the slowing down bit though. If you really want to get round a course fast then you will have to get your corner entry speed right. ie not too slow or too fast. Too fast is way more fun, but it won't win any races, or keep you upwind. Too slow is boring. Both are slight mistakes.... Loki

It's time I fitted a belt on my buggy and I have been spending a LOT of time thinking about how it should work and studying what others have done. One thing I haven't seen done yet is multiple release. I can't think of a situation where I would want to release the kite and not the seatbelt. Is this a bad idea? I use a bar most of the time and what I think might work is having a release pin on the seatbelt that is leashed to the chicken loop. That way if I ditch the kite, I also release the belt. Note that I wouldn't want to make this the only safety release. Releasing the belt but not the kite would also be an option. Loki ps I know I probably need a different buggy if I'm going to jump

Mine has a double ended zip and a press-stud flap. I Unzip upwards until I can clear the harness hook, then do up the studs below the hook. Simple. Loki
