  1. First 'real' kite I had was the Firebee 3m, and first time I flew it in real wind (more like a storm) the ground broke my collarbone and the lines took days to untangle :|
  2. so tempted, really cheap compared to new kit...
  3. I'm over in Birmingham next week, does anyone know any good kiteshops in the area - preferably city centre or close to the NEC or airport area? Mainly after some lines etc but prefer Ozone lines... Anyone in B'ham interested in a Firebee 3m? kite only but dirt cheap
  4. If you want to sell the bar separately then I might be interested - looking for a bar for landbased flying... looking for 4 line bar - (it's 4 lines or only 2 lines and crossover kit?) /M
  5. I have a number of kites already but I was wondering if they could be used for snowkiting with a board - I guess anything can be used, but used good enough - ie going upwind, perhaps not only on flat frozen lakes etc. I have a set of NPW9's, 4m Blade, and a 11m LEI for kitesurfing, the LEI is on a bar of course and all others flows with handles and no harness... Cheers!
  6. I'd like a 40m set for ultra low wind days with my NPW9's but I keep seeing flexifoil or other lines, I've got two sets of Ozone and they feel better to me compared to the others? Hopefully a shop in London or mailorder in UK? /Magnus
  7. I had the 12m in Middle wallop, and the largest NPW I saw was a 32m one which was flown only during evenings or nights when no other kite was up :-) They are quite slow - especially comparing turns with a 5.3, but as you say, they really do stretch the arms a bit :-) Would have been fun to fly them with super long lines - Blade 9m on 270m lines I think someone had on MW If you're in London or south Sweden we can meet up..
  8. The field is called 'Clitterhouse Playing Fields' close to Brent Cross and A406.
  9. I took out my new NPW9 15m yesterday, first flew my smaller 5.3m for getting a feel for the wind and then setup the 15m (handles and 30m lines). I've got used to Nasa's constant power but the 15 was a bit too much for me, even if there was almost no wind. Suddenly though, there were a few gusts and I only dared flying it on the side of the window, and especially making sure I did not park it overhead and getting involuntarily lifted and dragged across the field. After a bit trickery landing and attaching it to the ground stake, I had to try twice!! Then ran and packed the thing down before the ground stake could have flewn out of the ground... Phew, my arms were sore from all the pull :-) So a few questions, anyone else flew 12 or 15m and in how strong or light winds? Found new field for flying in north london, Cricklewood and would happily hav a get together for ppl to try out the Nasa's below. 10. EH Wave? I've got an offer to buy an 11m EH Wave '04 complete with lines and bar. I could not find much here on EH kites so anyone has major pros or cons? I've flown a 7m and 9m a year back but not the 11m - plus this was my first try at kitesurfing so had no clue on what to expect...
  11. Thank you, sounds good, I'll have a look for used Strike's and others, are there anything to stay away from in terms of safety features? I'm flying large kites on land (12m NPW) without harness, and I really like to have several options for immediate disconnect/depower once in a harness. 5'th line I've never used and usually I manage to relaunch anyway.. IKO level 1-2-3 I've done but I will try to only board with friends if anything should happen... Also what size of board would you recommend for my weight 70kg?
  12. In risk of asking a common questions but: what gear would you recommend to a beginner learning kitesurfing? I've done the beginner courses and have IKO license from Cabarete, I've done upwind 1-2 days but with big boards - at least 150cm. I've used Flexi Strike 5m - 13m and I've already got a maui magic seat harness. So what would you recommend: used kit for learning and then buying new gear once I've learned more? I need a wetsuit, board, bar, and one or two kites (will move to Sweden so will be doing kitesurfing in south of Sweden). I've had my eyes on new Litewave boards - 136 or 148, would those be good for learning on ? I'm 70kg...

    NPW upwind?

Come to think of it: has anyone tried NPW's for kitesurfing? bodydragging would easily work but I could start surfing with what I have rather than buying new LEI's

    NPW upwind?

Very easy explanation: I'm only flying static - I have no board or buggy so the only way is downwind :-) I'm going to try some buggies and boards in Middle Wallop I hope
  15. I'd like to know as well actually, I've bought a Blade 2 4m and only flown it once. My friends has Blade 3 4.9 and 6.6 and the 6.6 is bit too much for me I think... I'll post once I've flown a bit more with it

    NPW upwind?

I finally fully understood 'upwind' this spring when I got the board and LEI to go upwind rather than only downwind in Cabarete :-) So now my question: can any of my NPW's go upwind with a buggy or a landboard, I've only flown static on land but would like to try landboarding...
  17. I'm on there (but have no tickets yet), I was a couple of days late to send the cheque but they probably have a bit of envelopes to open and sort :-) Couple of questions: how large tents are people bringing (7 people can fit) ? If I have two late joiners would they be able to pay at the entrance since it's in the same tent?
  18. Not sure about all gear but powerkiteshop.com at least have glasses and ship fast within UK.http://www.powerkiteshop.com/accessories/dirtydogwetglass.htm Can be tight if you're wearing a tight helmet, but so would any glasses?
  19. I'd love to have a go at your Scrub board - but is it a good idea without helmet and pads? (and potentially a harness?)

    Sunglasses

How would these compare to Dirty Dog glasses? I used them two weeks ago in Cabarete and they worked very well - I wore them to ensure my lenses did not go out in the water. I did find them tricky to use with a tight helmet, but one size up in helmet works great! http://www.powerkiteshop.com/accessories/dirtydogwetglass.htm
  21. I've got all the gear below, if anyone want's to try either of them. The 12m NPW9 is quite fun when there is almost no wind - it still pulls like mad :-] In addition I've done a bit of kiteboarding and like to try landboarding. Are there any shops or 'tryout areas' where I could try both buggying as well as boarding? If so I might go ahead and buy my own harness and pads :-)
  22. I've been using 2 line 'Winddancer' for quite a while and they are quite fun for rec flying on the beach - until they crash. Last year I tried a Bullet 1.5 and was astonished on how fast it turns when I used the breaks to turn - it looked like a wheel in the sky in high winds and brake steering. Now, I'm looking for Little Devils from 3.0m to 1.5 but I'd like to hear opinions if anyone has compared the Bullet 1.5 to the Little devil 1.5 or 2.1??!
  23. I and my girlfriend have booked flights to Cabarete from the end of March. I want to do a repeat of the beginners kitesurfing course and then rent the gear for 4-5 days. After this we'll probably do other things, like hiking, scuba diving etc. Now, what hotel and kite school would people recommend? We don't need a fancy hotel and I'd rather put my money into kiting and activities than the room. Also I'd like to have a bit of space while kiting since I'm beginning with kitesurfing and I'd hate crashing into other people while doing it - lines could cut anything off!?
  24. I'm missing EH in the list above, or were they bought by Best or something?
