  1. i bent the aluminium one I made after about 3 jumps - the alu tube was quite old though. try it in light winds.... like today
  2. are the kite surfing bars strong enough? - just thinking the main lines normally go through the center of a kitesurf setup (correct me if i'm wrong), so the actual bar doesn't need to be as strong. I was looking @ a samurai bar- £10 cheaper. I haven't seen any 70cm blade 3 bars about. do u know where u can buy em?
  3. While I was in France, I found that in light winds (with the 8.5), once i got going at a reasonable speed, i could get a load more speed up by snaking slightly upwind... so i'd lean backward... feel the kite pulling and lean forward slightly... pick up some speed, lean backward... and so on. I picked up a load of speed like that and still managed to go upwind. Then, as Adrena1in so well put it, you have some space to "blast downwind". Dunno if n e one else has done that? obviously it doesn't really work in strong winds (tho i haven't actually had chance to try it yet). Oh and it was much easier to do using the handles without a harness coz you could really feel what the kite wanted to do.
  4. too: do i renew my BBC insurance? i just got the letter through last week... Or am I going to have to switch to BKSA so i can get a nice red (or white?) vest. Good idea though... I think it would be helpful for people just starting out, or people who haven't visited for a while. Wouldn't you need a big sign to tell people what the vests mean? or will they have one of those universally understood tourist information symbols (just the i) on the front? http://www.eastriding.gov.uk/leisure/images/tourist-information.jpg Good Luck with getting this sorted, Leon
  5. dya kitesurf, buggy, landboard, static fly... or even kite blade?
  6. Find a field and fly ... It depends which side of warrington ur heading? It's probably the sankey side, where there's apparently a field by the motorway, and an old runway. Not too sure about that coz i'm on the other side. Normally we head to Ainsdale or hoylake - check out the manchester fliers thread

    Blade III 4.0m

It's just that time in between, when ur learning to get it right... Get some padding ... and maybe some ankle support... oh and try and keep the kite moving while ur in the air, and get a big pull just before u land so it doesn't hurt so much. I'm sure there was a thread a while back on jumping, have a search of the forums
  8. I'd agree that atarting with a nasawing is a good idea, so u know what ur doing, and make most of the mistakes on something that can easily be fixed. + it doesn't take too long to make, so u'll be satisfied fast! It's amazing for pull, but doesn't really have the shape for alot of lift. If your going to make a nasawing, i'd go with the 9b - summit like 25% more powerful and 50% faster.... -->Click here Good luck with the kite... and I hope it flies first time!
  9. it's them there newtons again... "what force is pulling from this kite? give your answer in newtons" back to school physics! ... anways they'd have to have a set wind speed, position, kite speed, etc. unless it's just the biggest pull u can get out of your kite at a certain wind speed
  10. woah nice one lone wolf... just make sure u don't bang ur head on the sky . u cud design ur own bridle for VPS on the blade III if u like
  11. Definatly not the kite central forums tim... ! ... j/k nice work with the site.
  12. nice one alan - ta
  13. VPS = Variable power system - you contol the power with the distance of the bar from u (u'll need a harness). With just a bar, u have full on power all the time... no power control... Search for threads on it.
  14. There's loadsa threads on line lengths... basically... [*]You get cleaner wind - less gusty and nicer to fly on inland or if the wind is offshore [*]You have a larger wind window [*]the control is a bit slower (or so i believe) [/list=1] I usually fly the blade II 4m on 20m lines and it's normally alright, but I have flown other blades on 40m lines and it's quite different control wise... + the kite looks tiny!
  15. Maybe I haven't seen his shop coz I haen't been looking... Is it just a van? and when is he usually there?
  16. Hey, I've never seen him myself, although I hear that he's trying to set up guidlines for the beach so we don't get banned and it's only the people who don't follow these rules that will get chucked off. Should be good for us all, but if anyone knows anymore about it, i'd be happy to hear.
  17. Thanks Kev, and good luck to you.
  18. Would like to go... even if it is just to watch... do u know where i can details?
  19. Full lightweight body armour maybe!?! how some kind of line winder/ unwinder that doesn't tangle your lines?

    Bullet

I'd stick on handles, for the simple reason that it's much easier to control your kite like that, and you might need to work it quite a bit in lighter winds, which is easier on handles. unless your planning to do tricks, or get a much bigger kite, keep away from a bar.
  21. Flair what's the back protection thing? just wondering, coz although i've never fallen on my back, you cud do some major damage if u did
  22. your welcome... i've seen quite a few on the for sale/wanted forums if u want one a little cheaper
  23. We've got a kheo air, which is fantastic on grass with the wheels at about 30psi. You get some amazing speed on it... but also if u ever did ride it on sand, you can get thicker wheels fitted... i'm not sure about the scrub... maybe some one'll help you out with that
  24. Well, if you *have* to "get rid" of one, instead of throwing it away i don't mind having it (that applies to the kites, not the wife!) I haven't tried the bullet, but i'd say you should keep the blade it's better for a wider variety of things than the bullet - or so i've heard. + reading reviews, the blade seems to be better - with the bullet do you have a problem with it taking off quite often when it's been landed and is attached to a peg in the ground? I know it shouldn't, but i've heard it does this unless you put sand on it or detach the lines
  25. I've heard both are very good boards! I think the Kheo Air S would be a better choice as I know quite a few people with one and it is a great board! Whereabouts are you going to be riding it? - beach or grass?
