  1. what's a fair price ( US) for a BLADE IV 6.5 PETROL on handles flown 8-10 times perfect condition
  2. I was told by a very reliable source that the new blades come only in rasta, petrol, and midnight what happened to the acid style, like the stings?????????????? will flexi build one if I asked nicely
  3. flew with scoopy yesterday at a friend of ours who owns a private airstrip great for crosswinds(good for buggying, not so good for the planes landing and take-offs) we started off with a couple of stings.chasing one another ,winding up and unwinding the lines some formation flying and of course a fair amount of crash and burning in a big tangle of lines then tryed out a demo peter lynn pepper,1.5(I think) and a 3m didn't much care for the 1.5 but really enjoyed the 3m good build, fast turns, and pretty quick across the window not much lift but would do OK as a buggy engine then we pulled out the blades!!!!!!!! wonderful kites started with the 4m.scoopys christmas present attached the lines and handles and up she goes, purple and dark grey flys very much like the 3m only a little heavier and a good bit stronger scoopy set up the 6.6m, same exact colors as th 4m they looked awsome in the air together I believe the 6.6 is the best jumping kite I've ever flown it's not violent and tends to set one back down gently it had been quite a while since I'd flown,I was long over due so even though the weather may not be the greatest I encourage all to get out when you can and fly. even if for a short time. It lifts the spirit. from the colonies Merry Christmas to all wva

    riot opinions?

I've flown my 5m three times now in fair wind I enjoy it more each time I fly If you had only one word to describe this kite I would use SMOOTH it doesn't jump off the ground like some kites ,it lifts up a few feet and sort of pauses (like it just realized it's in the air) then up she goes pulling harder as it goes no bursts just strong (SMOOTH) acceleration a lot like a mac bego, polite but insistant, very strong to me it's like a samuria on steroids, the love child of a frenzy and the sam beautiful up close and in the air a kite to be proud of for beginners or for the veterans as for lift,I haven't compared side by side with a 4.9 III but, I will tell you this 5m lifted me straight up off the earth while parked over head and I weigh 200 lbs. gently up and gently down I might add I'm heading to the shore (a 10 hour trip) next week for my first fly in really clean wind I can hardly wait I'll let you know how it goes
  6. my first traction kite was a 3M blade II the guy who sold it to me(new) cautioned me over and over that this kite could do much harm if given the chance I am here today to tell you, that was wonderful advice that I took to heart and have adopted with every kite I've flown since from a 10.5 M blade III right on down to my flexi sting! my 3M for me was a great first kite, and is still my favorite fly to this day I've stood on the beach and out stunted delta flyers then simply powered up and scudded away It's a kite of many uses If you do decide on a blade 3M, or for that matter any traction kite, to begin with I'd offer the same cautions with one addition (KITE KILLERS) put em on they can save your butt I've flown for years but under the right(or wrong) conditions use them now forget the macho crap, if it keeps you from crashing into a bystander or watching your $$$$$$$ kite blow through a fence or worse or maybe being lofted (YANKED) into the sky only to learn the hard way 3M don't float they're worth using OK that's all welcome to the sport
  7. keep in mind I've never flown a RACE KITE the riot is stable (unlike many or most race kites?) it can be held in the window at a stand still (with some effort on the brakes) I don't know, can you do that with a razor? it's a much lower aspect that what a typical race kite is the riot 5M flies fast but not race kite fast (static) it does not explode on take off,but the pull increases very rapidly I have not had it in the buggy as of yet looking forward to seeing what it will do once it's moving who knows maybe it's fast enough to race I guess that depends on what your opponent is flying I believe thats what the yakuza was made for really believe the blade is it's intended target haven't had a chance yet to compare side by side with a B III 4.9 but soon .................
  8. SECOND FLY: much much better wind esitmate 15 gusting to well over 20 mph there is ONE thing I wish to make very very clear RIOTS have LOTS of lift!!!!! I've read the speculations whether they lift or not well... I weigh 200 lbs,I had the kite at the zenith parked a nice gust came along and straight up I went just hung there 18 inches off the ground remained there for 5 or 6 seconds then gently drifted sideways to the ground I flew it back to back with my neptune 600 very close in lift and pull ,turns much quicker I was wrong when I said the pull increases with a tug on the brakes the brakes only slow it down and that takes some doing once the kite is moving fast the kite pulls hard everywhere except at the edge of the window over head is little relief as it still pulls like a train the wing tips did tuck under some near the edge, sort of like my old frezy 03 I also succeded in bow tying it once, not really sure how it happened but I managed it flying it with my Mac only reinforced the weight of this kite but...... it appears to be of the highest quality through and through I personally don't M board(just can't stand on those things) but for those of you who do your going to absolutly love this kite I imagine using a bar would be best for the board honestly OZONE may regret building this kite simply because your getting a very close facsimile of a frenzy(minus the de-power) at a greatly reduced cost can't wait to put it up again my opinion....will give the blade a run for the money soon scoopy and I are going to compare the B III 4.9 against it will let you know what happens
  9. 92 viewings of this thread and not one comment could it be a few are sceptical of me, an old guy from the US (West Virginia no less...read NO beaches) could actually have one of the very first riots on the market tis true ladies and gents:p red/black/yellow 5M I've just returned home late from work so all I have is a cursory observation the material is almost flat with just a little sheen to it all but three cells on each wing tip are open celled on the trailing edge of the last cells there is a velcro opening(nice) two bridle attachments on the rear side wing tips are only 1 inch apart...strange the oddest thing.inside the center two cells, there are diagonal suports attached to the top center slanting down and connected to the lower end of the adjacent cell wall effectively splitting the two cell horizontally at a 45 degree angle this has to give great strength to the center on the kite I gave up a mac bego 4M for this kite hope I made the right choice I'll let you know My thoughts on how she flys as soon as .............
  10. FINALLY YOU CAN READ AND SEE AT LEAST A TID-BIT ON THE RIOT AT WWW.FLYOZONE.COM I've taken the chance and ordered one(5M) from scoopy on some faith that OZONE won't dissapoint me It's scheduled to arrive tuesday I't's like christmas in june

    Riot

Thanks Draggin for the info looks to me like the underside is made of the same material as the top, unlike my skytex white belly on my old 03 frenzy but then again it's only a guess:rolleyes:

    Frenzy 06?

    I got it rayens thanks
  14. I'm looking for a good engine for my buggy one that is not prone to lifting me out of my seat on a full throttle turn I've been looking hard at the bullets I can buy an 04 model for considerably less than the 05's I just can't get past how much better looking the 05's are(my opinion) and for me how a kites looks is almost as important as it's performance this evening I found the samurai what a beauty if looks could kill........... so tell me, does this thing fly as good as it looks anyone with any info on this kite to share would be greatly appreciated also about those lifty kites for those who like to jump or flat out haul in the buggy I have a 4M mac bego and equally qualified on land or water a 6M neptune for sale thanks wva
  15. I'll ask this on this thread because it just seems appropriate here are the details; I'm 48 weigh 195lbs been flying traction kites for 4 years I'm good with my buggy(up wind and all) I've never been on a land board in my life I'm just finishing up my homemade board (I am decent with woodworking) I have a neptune a bladeII 3m a neptune 600 and a 9.5 frenzy bump and jump harness and a life jacket oh yeah and I can ride a unicycle for what it's worth What are the chances I'm going to be a success on the water? Is there any hope or is this some sort of mid life fantasy?????????? please be kind and James, good luck to you but what do you think?

    Strike lines

thanks greystripe for setting me straight that would explain why the ball was attached so far up the line I still think I can use it for righting a downed kite at least I'm going to try
  17. wva

    Strike lines

On the strike lines there is a small ball (the size of a large gum ball) on a one inch line knotted it's larksheaded onto one break line If I had to guess I'd say it's for a good grip on your line to back the kite up out of a nose down in the water Am I right?
  18. flew my new neptun with scoopy for the first time my first impression is"I LIKE IT" but I'll tell you,it takes skill to fly it right if your a blade flyer and you pick up a bego or neptun, for the first time, I'd bet money you will not get everything out of the kite thats it's capable of if you are a nasa wing pilot then you are way ahead of the game scoopy is a very good NW pilot needless to say he flew his bego well from the get go I on the other hand I don't think the NW should even be called a kite one of the most aggravating piece of nylon ever to be put to air if I wanted a kite that does anything IT wants to do anytime no matter what line I pull on or how much I swear at it then the NW would be my first choice anyway seeing scoopy take command of the bego and my neptun gives me the confidence that I too will one day control this neptun as for the NW stick a pole in it and stake down the sides, would make a nice tent
  19. interesting post If I may disagree on a few points the mac 600 I flew lacked nothing in pull a smooth torquey pull that came on politely, unlike a blade the surprise comes when it just keeps pulling, harder and harder and......... as for lift,I was flying with scoopy standing with the mac 600 at zenith when along comes a healthy gust and I'm gently lifted straight up and just hang there for a few seconds high aspect kite or not thats lift I share your views on flying this kite on a bar but I'll work on that as I have a neptune 600 on order from scoopy I'll let you know how it goes
  20. I vote 'no to belts' I prefer super glue on the seat AND on the handles that way I know I'm committed:eek:

    mac+buggy?

how good is a Mac Bego 600 for bugging? I realize it has great lift if kept low will it work? for the record I ride a flexi wide axle thanks
  22. a guy walks into a bar and orders five beers from the barkeeper rough day,he asked the guy looks up from his beer and says I just found out my son is gay next evening in the guy comes again give me ten beers and make it quick now what's wrong asked the bartender I just found out my brother's gay next evening in he comes again smacks his hand on the bar and demands twenty beers the barkeep already drawing up the drafts looks over his shoulder and asks" doesn't anyone in your family like girls? yes. MY WIFE!
  23. in my buggy flying my 3m blade in strong winds this past summer I decided to try a strop with my bump&jump(for my frenzy) found that it did reduce a LOT of the work involved allowing for a longer ride I did find it a bit more than thrilling during gusts one change I will make is to use a stiffer strop as I found it difficult to "hook up" with the drooping strop

    about a passenger

hey Tom 183 how do you like your bullets I've got my sights set on a 4.5 as my next purchase had a chance to static fly one it was great wondering if this holds true in a buggy yes gp the 3m is a rather large stunt kite or a small traction when used in the proper wind it's great at both still my favorite wva
