I'm interested that a short time on FB and then onto depowered seems to be the suggestion. I can certainly see you would probably move to depowered at some point, but a lot of shops and dealers seem to suggest FB on handles would last you for quite some time, and the switch may not happen at all.
So they have recommended something like a rage 3.5 as an starting kite that would cover a good wind range to learn and develop kite and board skills with, but, and I thin this links to my suggestion, would you say a smaller kite and a Rage 3.5m (or 4.7m) or Flow 4m would be a better learning quiver? i.e. have a kite to play with and learn the basics, and then one to start to get you moving?
Point taken about borrowing/stealling/begging someone elses kites to start with.
