  1. If you are kitesurfing on the then pendine doesnt need a membership, kite boarding it does. True Gower spots would include Llengenith(waveriding), oxwhich bay (flat water) Further down into carms/pembs you have pendine(S-SW) then amroth(SW), saundersfoot(SE), tenby(S-SE, SW but very choppy), newgale (W), poppit (NW- N) All are free to kitesurf on and all bar pendine are fine to board/buggy on with out any membership.
  2. Yup helium has it right the kite is stalling, pulling the power up tab might help but it does sound like your lines are the wonrg length. I would suggest getting you local kite shop to have a check over them with you just to check all the settings on the kite for you.
  3. Sweet Bro, not jealoous of the maui action at all keep at it it keeps getting better!
  4. Dude that sucks, I know thisdoesnt help you now, but peter at kitemare company is absolutly top notch!
  5. Hey Guys Ive just started planning and designing my own kite kicker, so far its going pretty well, one issue is the graphic (typical kiter I know, but its gotta look sweet as bro) does any one have any contacts of people who could wither print a sweet image onto the ply or print it on to a sheet of paper that I could then stick on to the ply and cover in varnish?
  6. bought the 9m from powerkiteshop and the 11 from my local dealer. Both stored in th bag in my kite room, never had any failure before, and the line that snapped had just been unwraped about 5 mins before launching, so hard to believe I could have done anything to it, the kite theselves have only flown 2 or 3 times. Will update you as I get updates
  7. So today Ive blown 2 bandit3s. 1st was my 9m flying it for the 3rd time in pretty light winds the kite started to feel weird looked up and saw that the right hand pannel had ripped and as I was watching so did the middle pannel. Annoying! 2nd kite. I went in to grab my 11m the kite has flown once before, but i had never used the bar that came with it, un raveled the lines connected up self launched up the kite went and within about 10 secs the right hand steering line pinged, sending the kite into continuous loops, pulled QR, still the kite was powered looping hard and fast, dragging me across the beach. I tried to cut the kite away but the pressure had deformed the lease attachment. Luckily Kev was on the ball and ran over, couldnt catch the kite it was loooping too fast! but his hanging on to me stopped us dragging. Thankfully the kite ripped its self and burst killing the power. Thankfully my only injuries are a bashed side and a few cuts. Thanks to the lifegaurds who did nothing whatso ever during or after the incident. Just goes to show guys check your kit when first using it! Also have F-one changed their suppliers, they defo arent indesructable like the Dos was!
  8. yeah - but if the weather is nice then is can be a bit crowded with non kiters
  9. if youre about on sunday at pendine be sure to come say hi to us water babies
  10. dont forget to deny everything, the second you admit any form of responsibility your screwed, it was the cyclist fault for not taking ecasive action the van was tail gating etc
  11. 18.50 extra to take sports gear - just put kite, board, and all your other stuff in there, no weight limit

    Harnesses?

warrior 2 is mega comfortable as a water baby, might not be so comfy with out 5mm of neoprene to protect you.

  14. pretty crass generalisations blaming video gaming as a negative, when I get some time ill dig out the pirmay litrature on the issue, but essentially it has been largely proven there is no direct link to gaming and increase aggresive tendancies.
  15. Mystic wetsuits are the most comfortable ive everworn super warm in the winter yet you dont over heat in the summer, their lids are great as well as are the impact vest and harnesses, pretty much every one I kite with wears one of the mystic suits.
  16. Ive been thinkning the same thing - use the wii ballance board/ the skate thing on the ps3 as you board for edgeing etc. have a waist band for one of the bits of the wii reomte thing then a pole that the other one can slide and tilt upon. Beyond that the physics for the graphics engine would have to be based upon skate2 combined with some stuff from virtual skipper or other wind simulation, could even be an mmog (massive multiplayer online game) like shaun white snowboarding. Make it look visully stunning, bright colours tropical locations etc and it would be a perfect party game or a way to get a kite fix during those bleak mid winter evenings/ no wind days.

    downwind

tbh I harly ever do dead down wind, just like in sailing its a trickier, i tend to bear off down wind on to a 'training run' 20 degres of due down wind and gybe back and forth across the direction of the wind, much easier and faster. Also it might help you learn toe side riding (not sure about that though)
  18. even with all the lessons in the world it only takes one second of not paying attention for the wind to give us a good hiding. Lessons will reduce the incidience and severity of these accidents hopefully, but accidents will still occur. I guess its down to the community to minimise the occurance, to be seen to be doing something about it, and to self regulate to an extent. What would be nice it to have kite clubs follow suit of sailing clubs (larger than a certain size anyway) and have club owned rescue boats, and have a rota so that there is always some one on the water ready to help out ( I know there are a million problems, but it would be nice)
  19. Lou us water babies welcome? might be able to drag a bunch of the regulars from saundersfoot/pendine along.
  20. The airush x-pact 138 would suit, nice easy board to ride will take you far, good light wind and upwind with decent pop for those first jumps
  21. if only we could get the MOD to let us water babies use the whole of pendine all day life would be sweet!
  22. how many kiters use pembrey, how easy to get to the beach is it?
  23. no where is hugely far in cornwall, so I would try perranporth at low tides
  24. If you go into A&E with serious back pain many of us medics will get you onto physio for free... esp if the doctor is a sportsman.
  25. Theres a reasonable gang of us who kite surf on pendine (weekends and after 3pm, due to beach restrictions) on a good day there can be 15+ kites out.
