  1. I think it has something to do with the kites angle of attack (as a result of the "less lift" thing) it is not focussed on climbing so it doesnt try and "climb out" at the zenith (I hope that sort of makes sense) I have once even turned around into the wind to fly it back down into the down wind side of things (which is weird, you would have expected it to fold?).... Anyway you have to apply brakes to slow it down / stop it at the zenith sometimes (general issue - not you)
  2. Here is my home made strop, it has a piece of cordlette attached to the handles "pigtails" using a larks head, and then thorugh the loop on the end of the climbing rope it is attached in a larks head style using a shortened tent peg - this creates a quick release on both ends of the strop. It also uses, climbing harness, screwgate and pulley. The quick release system was very important to me, it works easily and reliably.
  3. Where are things going?? soon "extreme" sports are going to be boring and the every one will be into "psycho" sports - thats mad! but the rush must be awesome
  4. Fasten the foot straps onto the deck nice and tight but not so tight that the bolts heads start pulling into the deck. Footstraps to deck mount tight enough so that they dont rattle but not so that the bolts pull through the rubbers. Then go for a roll around and see if the board is "nervous" fasten the king pins till you feel more secure, but not to tight so that you limit turning ability. All quite common sense really - but now you know. Now tell me - how do you guys stop a mountainboard - I played with mine down the street, the only way I now is to take a foot out of a binding and drag/slide a foot (skateboard style) but you have to make sure your foot doesnt go back into the back wheel and throw you off? I battle to believe you can powerslide to a stop at any sort of speed?
  5. I used to rock climb with a petzyl corax and found that it wasnt very well padded (they build it very light so that it doesnt limit movement) so I replaced it with a black diamond chaos (which is built for long routes and is more padded) - much better. The other day I used the petzyl as a static harness and I was reminded that it is definately not the most comfortable (well marketted though)
  6. I'm going to look at the parapack setup, this is what I currently do: Pack: Land the kite, attach handles to stake, walk to kite, pull upwind, fold and place in backpack, go back to handles, put them around my neck and figure of eight all 4 lines back to kite, stuff lines and handles into bag. Unpack: Leave kite in bag, put handles around my neck, walk out lines, attach to stake, walk back to kite, pull kite out of bag and set it ready for take off, walk back to kite with all 4 lines in my hands between different fingers (2 left hand 2 right hand), possible turn a handle in case a brake line is twisted around a power line (as long as you take the handles out the bag the same way there are no other twists) Its pretty fast and I have never had a knot.
  7. That is what I was trying to get at - in one situation people are okay with "culling", but if the perpetrator is a person, then "civilisation" requires that we apply a different set of rules, one that is socially acceptable. I dont believe that someone, who rapes kills etc, should get civilised and concerned treatment (unless of course the are mentally unstable - which I agree the courts must access) And I agree, I am also impressed that this thread has allowed for peoples opinions without anyone getting wound up and confrontational
  8. If you had an aggressive dog that attacked people would you put it down?
  9. I live in south africa which has huge crime problems, the death penalty was removed a couple years ago and to solve the crime problem the government has for the last couple of years stopped issuing crime statistics ?? People often think how can you kill someone and then they put themselves in the criminal's position and think about how awful it would be if it happened to you. But dont forget, you are the kind of person who beats and rapes an 80 year old woman?? Someone like that doesnt deserve "civilised" treatment, placing them in jail doesnt work either, the jails are overcrowded, escapes happen quite often here and every now and then the government decides to let the criminals go free (including the serious offenders) In addition many criminals do not get caught. So think about it - would you rape or murder if you knew you most probably wouldnt get caught... then think again would you rape or murder if you knew it would be the end of your life... it changes things completely and I think it is a good thing. You have to fight evil with evil.
  10. I have a Rage 3.5, mine overflys the zenneth sometimes, have to hold it back on the brakes. What do you mean by auto zennith?
  11. Why not contact someone who deals with fibreglass (replica car manufacturer etc) they might have the skill and knowledge to do an epoxy patch job?
  12. Landed in South Africa an MBS board with channel trucks (I dont know if they all have?) equates to about 264 pounds (a whole bucket full of money) I stood on it in the shop and it is awesome, plenty of flex. I was told that a scrub deimos is a good priced, durable board to begin with, but I am concerned that with skate trucks it will pick up speed wobble to easily? Question - does anyone in SA have a second hand board for sale? Its a long shot I know
  13. Hay Miaspa - Not impressed? too impressed? what are you saying? What height / distance should I be getting on a single super 10?
  14. 7 foot (altitude) 20 foot (distance) approx, 400m continuos scud - Flexi super 10
