I know I probably shouldn't, but I feel like I need to get mine and my friends opinion about the beach across.
We are 16 and have been flying at Ainsdale for about 3/4 years. We are not loaded and do not fly amazing, top of the range, new kites every year and don't ride the best boards/buggys. I'll be honest and admit we are not the most sociable people on the beach, but we feel we have good reason for this.
Everytime we are at the beach we feel like we are unwanted and taking up space. Even when we have tried to appraoch other people on the beach, we seem to get looked down on.
Even when buggying along the beach, the right of way rule seems not to apply to certain kiters. And I usually end up having to change course or move off into soft sand because the stuburn idiot coming towards me in the huge buggy doing 40mph+ refuses to move, and it even happens with freestyle buggiers.
Due to the above reasons, I am seriously considering selling all my kite gear. The increasing amount of 'snobbery' and stuburness on the beach, and the political side of of it all over the past months is making it hard for me to enjoy the sport I used to love doing.
I don't even bother visiting flexi as regularly as I used to due to the increasing amount of snobbery and negative comments posted.
Jon - I think I may have briefly spoke to you before, but I do not know you personally. I agree with you about the fact that Carl should not have been jumping, but it does seem that you are trying to sway the beach more towards the racing aspect of the sport.
Carl - I again do not know you personally, but I have seen you on the beach before. You may want to introduce jumping on the beach, but is breaking current rules the way to do it? I agree that jumping should be allowed (as long as it is carried out in a safe manner) but I still think you should not have gone againt current rules in place against this.
As I said, I do not know either of you and I may be completely wrong about it, but it is the way I see it.
Many of you will disagree with the points I have made above, but it is how I (and my friend) feel. And I think certain people need to get a grip and grow up, theres more to life than a beach and kites.
And as said before in this post, some people need to stop acting like they own the beach.
