Going to knock one of these up next maybe half size first. Full size uses about 35 mtrs of material. Ouch. If goes well will do the bigger one later. Kids love them but they tend to get a pounding. Maybe the bigger one should be in 1.5 ounce cloth. Wont be as colourful as this fella either. 2 or 3 colours work for me.

Well it's been a while since I did purchased a new (non power) kite, but here's my purple B series Rev. I even managed to get it signed by Ben when he was at the Adelaide kite fester.

Was wondering how many revolution Kiters we have here in Australia. Down here in Hobart the numbers are slowly increasing to about 4 that I currently know of. Would also like to know if anyone is flying in Teams, if so where are you based and generally fly? From what I can tell from the revolution forums, it is great to be able to fly with other rev kiters and you can learn a lot from each other. Would be good to know where other people that fly are and if I am headed somewhere in Aust where there are other flyers, I would love to catch up for a fly and and steal your knowlage. This may work with other people that are visiting other area's as well.

A vibrant debate 1 2 3

As some of you may have noticed .... A vibrant debate seems to have burst forth on the Widow thread... The crux of it being about what sport kiteing is today. Feel free to have a read, there are some classic quotes for sure:whistle: On the 'I stopped developing in the 90's' side we have Promethius (sic) and on the 'I didn't start till 2007' side we have 'Two Hands' (yours truly) Some of the quotes worth noting... Promethius (sic): "I'm surprised that a festival would want "freestyle" at all, as most of the time it is loathed... " "The only difference is freestyle is seen as boring, individualist, and as mentione…

Just wanted to share. unlike my other builds these are not from kite tails.. The Orange and Blue one I call the Jester.. Ripstop Nylon P4x/P2x hybrid Frame. The Dark Blue/Royal Blue is called Midnight Royal Taboo and is still in progress. Taboo because the darker blue is Poly , the lighter blue is Nylon.. Hope to finish it up this weekend.

Someone mentioned these a while back on the Forums (a few years ago) but information was really limited. Then in a conversation with a forum member recently they popped up again, so after some reading and searching it looks like they've really extended their range and options over the years. They make a range of kites, not just quadline: http://www.freilein.net/ Here's some photos that I've salvaged from Oceanshoreskites.com as half the images aren't working on there Freilein Vertigo Missing: Steel, Hawksquad Freilein Vertigo Max Missing: Warm, Blue Vertigo Exodus Vertigo Exodus Mid Missing: Warm, Cool, …

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has flown one of these.. comments ? After being grounded recently by a parts mishap, I've decided I need a "backup" kite to my Prism Hypnotist whilst I'm still learning the basics. Do U think this is good choice for a backup kite ? I'm not sure if I should look at merely buying a cheapie (around $100), get something perhaps a little more "substantial" like the Widow (taking advantage of the current "specials")... or spend more and get a kite that's more advanced than the Hypno (eg a Benson DeepSpace).. something that I might be able to "graduate" onto when the time is right... Not sure if I should be buying a "backup" kite o…

Ok, so it's a bit like flying a schizophrenic C-Quad, but very good fun! Was a bit windy on Sunday, but soo controlable. I have perfected the 'Dive - Crash' manouver, must work on the stopping bit... That and I was bored of seeing the other guy's Gemini for sale every time I looked at the front page. Fellow Rev owners unite!

Hi, I am looking to buy a few Stunt Kites. Could i get some opinions on current generation stunt kites please. What are the kites that stand out in 2015. I used to fly MEFM kites, but have had no luck contacting warren macintosh to see if he is still making these, I know kites are very subjective as to what people like from them, but if anyone ever flew an MEFM, the flight characteristics of those what i am after. Straight line, like on rails yet twitchy and stalls well. if anyone has kites they would recommend or possibly sell, bring to speed week, ill bring cash. Jason has the 'SOUL' on his site, looks nice, icarex, what doe s this fly like ? thanks, i know its…

Howdy, I was wondering I never hear anything about flying fighters on this website. No mention here under sport kiting or in the chit chat sections. Here in the states a lot of us fly fighters when the wind is too low to power kite(with any excitement). Their fun, cheap, easy to make. So what's up do you folks across the big pond fly fighters much.

Here goes then, is it Sport Kiting or Stunt Kiting? To me Sport Kiting suggests flying kites for sport, ie pretty much everything we do including all the foil stuff. Then again I don't think any of the disciplines are currently officially recognised by the sports council, so does sport kiting exist at all? So is this forum really for Stunt Kiting? Or maybe we should call it trick-kiting?

Has anyone worked out how to fly with one hand? Mainly talking about revs. I have had a bit of a play with flying with one hand but have always struggled in keeping control when doing more than just straight up and down movements. One I start to try and do any turns I have had all sorts of troubles. Any idea's on how to hold the handles to achive this?

I am ok with 2-liner deltas and para kites, and getting them in the air. But I have bought a Revolution knock-off and I am having some trouble setting up and launching. Having got all the lines sorted (I assumed that each spool was for each side, whereas they had done the other thing ) I then tried to launch in various ways. This was in light winds (<5Kt) (1) As for a delta, have the kite sit on its spars, leaning back to hold it down. Problem. trying to move back down the lines toward the handle ends, the kite kept "walking" at me as even a sliught change of angle produced lift on one side or the otrher and as quick as I could be, that side would just inch…

Took my new Rev out for the first time today and I was rubbish. Or maybe I could blame the wind:D It was quite hard to get out of power kite flying mode and keep my arms together especially when I started to loose it and panic. D'oh. One thing it kept doing though - I'd launch it and then all the lines would go extremely slack, it would flip over towards me and float back down to ground. Am I launching it too hard or is it a sign that there just wasn't enough wind to support it once it was up. Mind you I got lots of practice at reverse launching and flipping it back the right way up

Just finished this Glider from a design by Doug Stout. It's 24" in Icarex and framed in Carbon Rod at 1 and 1.3 mm. Fun little kite for no wind days or in the lounge room after a few beers, put away any Ming vases. Not a complicated build and a nice result. Mike

Hi all, Well we got to Nobby's Beach at around 4pm to find a slightly bumpy NE breeze blowing... at about 40kph.. and gusting to about 45 or so. The tide was the lowest I'd seen there so far, so we'd have plenty of room. There were, however, quite a few PPL wandering up and down past us on the beach, including a large gaggle from the SLSC, so prudence demanded we wait for the wind to drop and the beach to clear a little. We amused ourselves by playing with the little cheapie foils for a while. It also allowed my inexperienced neighbour (Shane) to hone his basic kiting skills. It could have been worse, tho. Out in the water, at my last count there were 15 kite-bo…
