me and the missus are looking to buy a winter chalet, only 1 or 2 bed but was thinking of what area, seen some near lyon, but ideally want it in a snowkiting region, main reason for buying would be to stay in out of season and to rent to snowkiters in season and landboarders in summer possibly, any ideas on area, cost or interest or prices of other chalets would be greatly received. many thanks Ross:)

I am going to Courcheval 1850 in January, should I take a kite? Is there a big enough flat area there for doing it? Is there a snowkiting school out there thats any good? Is there anywhere I can just watch people snowkiting? I currently am learning to kite landboard and I have 1 weeks snowboard experience from last year so I am not very good. Thanks, Simon

You've all seen the kitesurfing and buggying/landboarding sites listed on our locations page. Thankyou to everyone that has contributed to our ever expanding list. It has really come along well and has made finding popular flying sites so much easier. What we are now in need of are a few snowkiting locations. I know a few of you have been snowkiting over the last couple of seasons, so see if you can use the locations page to zoom in and pinpoint the good spots you found. Once you have zoomed in, just click on the 'Add Site' button and fill in a few site details. Pictures of the sites you found would be a huge bonus too :D cheers, Gav

Thinking of heading snow kiting this weekend and prepared to travel 4-5hours for good conditions. I know a lot of areas have had snow in the UK but want to know know where the best conditions in the UK are. Please use this post to keep everyone up-to date on the snow conditions in YOUR area. I'll start us off: No snow in Ayr(West Coast Scotland). Only 1-2cm of snow in Dumfries and Galloway area.

I'm off to whistler next month for 10 days snowboarding. question is, do i take my kite? the one in question is a 4.9 blade 3. is snow kiting hard? do you do it on the flat, or on the pistes? I am a proficient snowboarder, but have only recently bought my landboard, and have not had a chance to use it yet! any 'how to' style tips greatly appreciated, as i'm not sure exacly what to do! I presume you start strapped in, on your arse, then launch? maybe? also, what is the best type of board to use? I currently ride a palmer honeypro 163(ish) but was considering an additional shorter freestyle board to abuse on rails etc. would a shorter board help when kiting?

i've had a message or two re: my sig and some deep discount stores downtown vancouver for snowboards and such. so, on behalf of a couple of forum members i'll be heading downtown next week to kite in the park and take my digicam into a few snowboard shops and see what i can see for a wicked deal. anyone else have anything else in particular they'd like me to keep an eye out for? i'll get pics, pricing & approx shipping costs etc. might as well make the trip even more worth while if anyone else is curious as to what they might pick up for cheap! cheers, richard

Took out the new "kite" today.... the Sabre 11.5. It was windy and gusty and cold. There has been no wind since I got the kite, so I was going to check it out no matter what the wind was. I drove over to the golf course and began to get set up in the deep snow. I had my snowboard, but I thought I would try static flying at first as this was my first go of it. The wind was all over the place and all scales and rules and tests were out of the window. The flag across the street was going crazy. I harnessed up and began working the brake lines to fill the foil... I had failure after failure just being an idiot as well as being alone. I went back and forth from…

This may be a stupid question, but is it ok to kite whilst it's snowing? I'm just thinking that snow would enter the kite through the leading edge vents and after a while, fill up the kite and then making it heavy? He anyone any experiences with kiting whilst it's snowing?
