m.klinge Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 So the first 200 seats for next year's epic snowkite event has been sold out in a matter of minutes I've been so lucky to secure my seat for Red Bull Ragnarok 2015 - can't wait to get back there. m.klinge Posted April 1, 2015 Author Report Posted April 1, 2015 So just over a week to go - I'm really excited :-) A lot can change, but judging from the preliminary forecast we're in for a light wind session once more: http://www.yr.no/sted/Norge/Hordaland/E ... arsel.html Guess I will pack both skies and snowboard this time around again :-) //M Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Nicht in Knoten? Arg m/s. Good luck M. Quote
m.klinge Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 Nicht in Knoten? Arg m/s. Good luck M. Hah the same old dialogue on ms vs knots It's really not that hard for the ranges we are interested in, 1 ms = 2 knots Btw I'm Danish not German, in Danish that would be "Ikke i knob?" (Though I do understand german quite ok) //M Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 I know you are Danish not German, but knew you would figure it out . Thanks for the Danish lesson and the hilarious cartoon. Why knots, well most people I kite with talk knots so it stuck. Every thing else I do is metric, not the devil's units of inches and pounds. Though mind you some times at work I am forced to work in imperial units for the USA customers, they have not seen the light yet .... Will they ever? So how was the Ragnarok 2015? Regards, Norman Quote

Regards, Norman Haha great ;-) Well it didn't go as well as I've foresee (in my dreams) It started out really well, but due to whiteout the start was postponed and the wind slowly died on us, the first two gates went super, then we had a steep descent and as my skiing experience is nonexistent I took a detour which ended with my kite dropping out of the sky and I was spending like 40 minutes sorting out my lines on the mountain side. That nearly killed it for me because the wind was just getting lower and lower during the day. At one point I got completely stuck on a mountain top with virtually no wind, fortunately it did pick up a bit and I was able to finish one lap (though as the start was delayed I didn't make it before the cutover time). Just to put it into perctive, they changed it to only 4 laps, and only 4 out of 300 made it through :-) I made two bad decisions otherwise I would have made at least two laps; didn't go with my gut feeling and changed from my 12 to my 18 when the start was postponed (and the wind had dropped) and I took a less that ideal way down from gate two ;-) All that aside is was great fun, and we had a great da yesterday on the snowboard with the kite (even though I took a massive hit and have to get my wrist checked when back home) ;-) //M Quote
