parksy Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Dont wanna sound like a complete numbnut but whats the diff between all the pl arcs, Guerilla , Scorpion, Venom, Phantom, Vortex they all look the same to me, or is that like saying all flexi look the same, I'm not knockin em just curious but I'll duck just in case there's a hail of shrappnel headed my way:D Quote
metal_snapper1599968645 Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 they are all different aspect ratios: Guerilla = Mid aspect (old model, turns very slow) Venom = Mid aspect Phantom = High aspect Vortex = Low aspect Scorpion = high aspect....updated version of the Phantom. Higher the aspect, more lifty the kite is. Quote
Krazy Kiter Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 they are all different aspect ratios: Guerilla = Mid aspect (old model, turns very slow) Venom = Mid aspect Phantom = High aspect Vortex = Low aspect Scorpion = high aspect....updated version of the Phantom. Higher the aspect, more lifty the kite is. And the more unstable.... Quote
SandMonster Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Its more than just aspect ratio, there are different foil sections some are phatter than others... couldn't tell you which is which tho... See http://www.kite-fantastic.co.uk/community/forum/viewforum.php?f=19 for more info on arcs in general (tho probly not the answer to your question !) ... Quote
parksy Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Posted June 26, 2008 Ta chaps, had a feeling that might be the case, some are more streamline and quicker , some are fat and floaty? Quote
bigears Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 dont forget the synergy's awsome kites. wouldnt say that my 12m phantom is that unstable tbh. supose its the way you fly them Quote
-james- Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 yeah, i am on the lookout for a 12m phantom, whats the difference between the venom and the phantom as i can get a 16m venom r2f for the same price as a 15m phantom r2f? Quote
SilentMotion Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Venom is newer than the phantom, but is the mid-aspect kite in the range - phantom is high aspect. Personally would (and did!) go for the Venom, but do fly both, everyone has their preferences. Quote
martiin Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Don't get a Guerilla unless your on a budget (Get a Venom instead), only get a Vortex if you want to freeride. Get a Phantom if you want to do freestyle and big air. Venoms is the ultimate all rounder, Land, snow and water freeride and freestyle. Then the Synergy which is just newer and better in every way (Therefore more expensive!) Quote
-james- Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 does 140 for a guerilla sound a good deal? Quote
guerilla Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 save a little more and buy the venom much better the the guerilla Quote
daltocsII Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I liked the v16 over the 15 phantom, ended up getting a mint VII 16m for £200, just wait and see what comes up. Been a few bargain venoms on ebay too. Quote
joe94 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 i've flown a 10m guerilla and it didn't seem that bad to me what are peoples probs with it Quote
nobby Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 ^^ 10G is a fine kite... the older arcs in smaller sizes dont suffer the slow turning speed as much as the larger sizes. imo, the newer small arcs can be a bit too fast... Quote
joe94 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 you've reasured me as im thinking of getting a 9m gII Quote
nobby Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 ^^ G2 9m prob one of the best higher wind arcs going.... Quote
wayne L Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 i fly a 15m phantom upto fairly high winds and think it is awsome lofts bit and bags of float i also had a bash on my mates 15m guerila absolute nightmare just way too grunty and you have the lift but i couldnt get the hang of it (thank god for the phanny) on the other side i have a 9m g2 which is a great kite but way snatchy if you drop her down in the window lol as i have found a few times just cant take your eyes off it. i flew a v2 16m was a nice kite but i flew it on the same day as my phantom so had a fairly good comparison for conditions and to be honest i prefered the phantom unless i get a go on a scorpion;) . martiin Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 There not going to be bad kites, if your interested in just riding about and doing a little freestyle you can't go wrong. But if you want real performance then you should demo the Synergy. Quote
-james- Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 well i only want a little freestyle so is the 11 or the 13 guerilla the one to go for? Quote
exo39 Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 well i only want a little freestyle so is the 11 or the 13 guerilla the one to go for? free style then go for the 12m phantom Quote
-james- Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 sorry, skipping between forums so the guerilla part isnt goin to make much sense Quote
ianbeasley2338 Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 All the Arc's are good but the Synergy's are a step forward in performance Quote
