jabroni Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Yeppoon is a dangerous place... gotta watch those cannons! Quote
Goz Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 Feels like winter may be over already up here. Every day it feels warmer and the NE winds seem to have arrived early. PS. Add was obviously scripted by someone who has never been to Yeppoon, I still haven't found the cannon. Quote

Goz Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 Don't feel bad fellas I'm keeping it warm for ya, and hard work it is to came home drenched in sweat and covered in sand this evening. Quote
Andyfly Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Sweat ! that doesn't sound right ....It's August.....winter... just ask the spider out the front of my house... winter = cold Andy... Quote
Goz Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 Nah Andy it was definitely warm again today, boardies, t-shirt and shoes. Heck it was nice just cruising along at 45km/h in 6 to 9 knots of onshore easterly today with the helmet off just feeling the wind blowing through what's left of my hair. I can also tell it's getting warmer as the local wildlife is coming out of hibernation and sunning itself on the beach again. Quote
Goz Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 Some footage captured by Quartz when he was up here last weekend. Quote
BGKD Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 @Quartz you may want to try lengthening the brake lines on your crossfire a little. always great to see your little beach Goz, strikes me that its time we planned another trip Quote
Quartz Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 @BKGD - will give it a try. I have tried a few of the different knots, its in the middle at this point - I am fairly lazy as well I am still keen for the communal buggy in yeppoon like you once suggested. You can fly to rocky for around $150--180 return when booking ahead. If we ever decide to go ahead, put me down for first $100. @Goz - ordered my starter kit from health cabin (1 x Joye eGo MEGA Kit + 20ml DEKANG E-juice 16mg menthol) as well as a try me doubler. Should be here in the next few weeks. Quote
JKS Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Ah that beach ........ The beach of dreams ......... Quote
BGKD Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 @BKGD - will give it a try. I have tried a few of the different knots, its in the middle at this point - I am fairly lazy as well yeah, that doesn't surprise me, I tried my 3m crossfire on the middle setting, then moved it to the longest setting, then tied an extra knot on the handles to shorten the power lines, crossfires are very brake responsive. Goz Posted September 18, 2010 Author Report Posted September 18, 2010 9 to 13 knots Easterly and Low Tide in an hours time. Can you guess where I'm off to for the afternoon? Quote
JKS Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 Well I was half expecting you to turn up with 1/2 a carton and a mower ....... whadya end up doing Quote
Goz Posted September 18, 2010 Author Report Posted September 18, 2010 Ended up doing about 80 kilometres did the run up to Sandy Point well lit on the Speed 3 was nicely powered until just North of Rydges Resort and then the wind picked up to around 15 to 20 past there, so I just pulled on a fair bit of depower trim and was happily buggying along at around 50km/hr had to go through a couple of wash outs and power slide around a couple of parked 4WD's but it was a good run. I had started out at Bangalee went down to the rocks on the Main Beach at Yeppoon turned around and just kept heading North until I ran out of beach turned around and headed back. Made it all the way back to the creek at Yeppoon then turned around and decided to stop at the new creek outlet just 500m north of the old creek. Got out of the buggy and then I realised that both legs had sort of gone to sleep from holding a line for the last 50km or so, wasn't a problem until I went to step over the buggy and failed to make it A few more runs back and forth between Yeppoon and Bangalee and decided to call it a day when the incoming tide forced me up into the dry stuff. By the time I packed the car and drove of the sun had set. Now I'm sitting here trying to work up the energy to drag myself off to the shower to rinse off the salt and sand. It was a good day. Quote
Goz Posted September 19, 2010 Author Report Posted September 19, 2010 The body is feeling it today, legs are a bit on the sore side after doing 50km of unbroken buggying, it has been quite a few months since I did a stretch that long in one hit. I suppose I was steering against a fair bit of sideways pull during the trip. But it felt awesome to be back in the buggy doing a long cruise after the turmoil of the past 3 or 4 months. Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 I think you've hit on the definition of a good kiting day, that tired from kiting hardly enough energy left to shower. Quote

Goz Posted April 8, 2011 Author Report Posted April 8, 2011 Feeling optimistic about the weather for the weekend and the back is as good as it's felt in many a month, I might be tempting fate but I just upgraded the front fork on the buggy to a new heavier duty unit that will one day take a bigfoot tyre and rim. On taking the old one off and having a look at it realised it's a bit twisted out of whack. Must have been from when the vmax went in from several meters up the day I got more altitude on my run than expected. Fingers crossed the weather gods smile on me in the morning and I can sneak out to the beach in the morning for a pre-easter warm up run and beach assessment. Quote
Goz Posted April 8, 2011 Author Report Posted April 8, 2011 Will be keeping it to a leisurely cruise at this point mate. Been a few months since the last trip to the beach, don't want to embarrass myself in front of you guys at Easter if I have forgotten how to buggy in the mean time Quote
jabroni Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Write this on the back of your hand Goz: 1. Fly kite 2. Sit in buggy Quote
