may as well reply to my own thread,

what ill do is try and give everyone a bit of a report on the condition of the lake wallunyup (saftey bay) once a week or so, just in case anyone fancies a blast down there.

my week of kiting,

1, NONE...... REASON..... lakes pretty full of water, lots of soft spots, still fairly firm up the top by the green container . Worth a trip if you dont mind getting dirty. Had a couple of days this week when the wind was firm and constant, would have been nice for a buggy.

havent been doing much with the buggying.... hopefully that will change soon.. have been keeping an eye on your lake each time i go past, is it losing any water??? need to find a spot close to bunbury where we can get out and have a decent thrash.... for us, our best times have been while visiting my folks out at wyalkatchem, big open paddocks and gutloads of wind... shall catch up at somestage and have a fly..

goodwinds to ya...

as promised, a small report on the lakes, went for bugggy about a week ago, nice westerly breeze, took the 5,6 and the 7,. gates are still locked so have to park down by the road, and carry all the gear through the small gates, first impressions were that i thought it a bit soft underfoot with a few puddles about, looked pretty dry apart from that. i alway set up down the bottom because im too lazy to walk with all my gear up to the top. tried out the 5 for a couple,...nah, definately the 7.

i managed to buggy up to the container with no problems, just trying to keep the kite high above the bushes and out of the lakes to the left , once through the narrow section of road (about .7klm). when the road widens out you can bring the kite down and get onto the hard stuff, bit wet right up at the top and soft, and still obviously lots of water in the lakes, but overall, plenty of room to play if you dont mind getting a little dirty.. great fun! :)

ok, so went out wednesday this week, very windy- 25-30 knots gusts to 40 blowing NNW. awesome, awesome, awesome, was how that session went, flew the 2.8 bora and adjusted the bridles so as not to overfly the window in the gusts, thats what i like about these kites, you can adjust them to suit the conditions your in, they work sooo well when theres loads of air passing through.

the lakes are like this...set up at the bottom as usual, pretty dry down there now and plenty of room for playing and deciding what best tool to use for the job in hand, just look out for big rocks when you come off the beaten track.

managed to tack all the way up the road to the green container, lots of effort but still better than walking. you can now buggy all the way to the top of the lakes as there is not a great deal of surface water on the hard stuff any more, a few soft patches but that always adds to the fun. you can also buggy from the green container all the way across to the deli on mandura rd now as that wasnt passable a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately doing a circiut around the lakes isnt yet possible unless you want to get really really wet, believe me, i looked at it, thought about it, tried it, too soft and slippy and rocks poking through the surface of the water, plus it never smells too good anyway.

above all things are starting to look good, this is a great time of year to be going out and getting dirty, ill be looking forward to seeing people down there, dont be shy and pm me if you want to get out there with someone....:).

I've mostly been heading to Langley Park this year as my local Forrestdale Lake has had water in it for a change.

Keen to have a go down there to Safety bay but would be rapped if someone who knows the ropes could lead the way.

Do you still get out there much??

ok. so i started this, guess i should get back to it, :o glad the summers over so i can get back to battling the elements, winters the best time for buggying, i.m.o., more to look out for, weathers a bit more unpredictable so got to be more prepared and i dont get the skin burned of my face in the sun!!

well, went out last week, took the 3.7, 5 + 6 ended going with the 5 (libre bora), im using this more and more, i really like the strong and predictable pull of this baby not to mention how good upwind it performs.

Report on the lakes: i went just after the rain so, a few puddles here and there gotta advoid the big one going up to the container, (which took me to more puddles) so maybe ill go staight through from now on and wear it :D after that its the same old same old, enjoyed some lovely long runs due to the easterlies, top to bottom no problem just a few soft muddy patches which seem to be magnets but add to the fun. you can still get around the first lake but i reckon a few more rain falls and it'll be a no no, or maybe youll have a go, just spot where you go before hand, rocks hurt, saying that i do recomend at least having a look to see if you can pass just so you can practise the short tacks and gybes you have to perform to get yourself out of there!!!, great fun and really hones your skills having to turn and not lose ground. ive snapped a line down in that channel before on a VERY windy day with the 2.8, so i fixed it and made myself buggy out of there (as i didnt fancy the 3klm walk of shame, even though nobody was around ) guess what, ping, there it goes again, man thats sooo getting to me now, again repaired the offending line and got myself out, loved it really, being able to get yourself out of situations is a liberating feeling, and i always carry spares on the back of my buggy for such events, glad to put them to use.

apart from that the lakes are still there all you perth guys, and the carpark has had a face lift, so you cant miss it now just before the train station on safety bay road.

i would really love it if we could have a show of hands from everyone who buggies in perth in this thread. then im hoping we can all meet up, langley park, safety bay im not fussy although youll have to think of the safety aspect at langley park, ive started to get some cones and markers together for those who love the speed (me included) to race around .....wherever lets arrange a date in the future and have a crack!! :D

till next time...

good speed guys and gals.....

Hi

Just got a kite and am keen to try a buggy prior to investing, I have a mountain board at present. I think I like the lower centre of gravity.

Send me a message and we can arrange to meet up sometime.

Thanks

Hiya mate, on sundays i think the gates are open because of the land yatching, other than that i generally sqeeze thought the gates and strap everything to the buggy :D, I have another couple of guys who are getting into it, who knows, we may soon have enough for some races. Let me know if your going out for a buzz, I'll try to get ouut as well..
