goshen Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Isn't ANYONE from Vic able to make this one? I'm heading along, but no one else from Geelong at this point can make it - any Melbournians? It's going to be a great week! Quote
linc Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 should be fun - i just stocked up on beer. we will be arriving sometime sunday morning after picking up boards at bright. can anyone give me any advice as to board lenght for snow kiting. i have a bit of snowboarding experience, should i just go for my normal board lenght or do i need something different when using a kite??? Quote
goshen Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 Just a regular board length will be fine - or whatever is recommended to you where you get it. Probably err on the side of shorter perhaps. See you there Linc; should indeed be fun. Looks like I'll be able to get there on Monday sometime. Quote
Lee Posted August 4, 2007 Report Posted August 4, 2007 I just heard from one of my best mates who lives and works up at falls. It snowed again today so conditions should be good up there. I wish that i could come along but i have just been given the ok to start to buggy since it puts little to no pressure on my feet. I cannot landboard or go snow kiting just yet. Have a good time up at falls guy's, post up some pics when you get back if you can. Lee Quote
linc Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 snowed on sunday so monday was fun on the mountain. tues windy with marginal vis, wed blowing a gale. and they shut the mountain cause of high winds thurs fri so the kites did not see much use. good to get back on the snowboard though. Quote
goshen Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 How did it go? got pics? Yeah, sorry about the lack of report... See the photo? That little bit of blue sky, the fact that you can see to a small patch on the other side of the lake? Yeah, well that was it, and it lasted for, oh, 5 minutes. 3 Days, of white-out, snow - mostly sleet, rain & hail actually. I missed a couple of good days where the SA guys got some ok conditions, but still no kiting (it was, like the first day or two, and if you're there for a week, you need to find your ski legs first). That really is the main problem with our unpredictable conditions. As one resident up there said, the weather often comes in 3's. 3 Days of fine, 3 days of so-so, and 3 days of bad. So it's really just a matter of luck; and that there's really only a 30% chance that you'll get any kiting done - and that's not factoring in the wind! Perhaps a trip in mid September? When the weather is *meant* to improve? Quote
Kozzie Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 god this would be so unreal of a trip. these trips are 1ce a year or is this a 1 off? i wish i was trained up and/or had my own equip i would definitely go Quote
Baggsy Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 weather is Great up here now!! had a blast on the snowboard and still HEAPS of snow... Quote
JKS Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Congratulations Baggsy !!!!!! Posts Hows the toes mate ? .... not to blue I hope Ya got that kite out yet or are ya still snowboarding ? Marty Quote
koma Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Yeah i was up at Hotham till 2nd September and aside from the Friday arvo when we drove up, it was a total white-out for the time we were up there! Snowboarded for 1.5 days then back on ski's for 1.5 days. All in all a good time, but the kite's didnt even make it out of their bags. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I thought I would post a product review regarding the relatively new model of Inov-8 footwear. The Roclite 390 is an excellent hybrid of both trail shoe and hiking boot. All of my running is done using various styles of INOV-8 shoes, but along with my passion for running trails is that of hunting and fishing. This is where the Roclite 390's come into play. --------- micheel internetmarketing Quote
