Nothing bad recently but in the early days..... combine landboarding or static flying and gusty inland crap and the results can hurt.

The worst have been a broken ankle and a cracked heelbone. Not at the same time though.

I banged my knee about 5 years ago. It hurt for a while (but I had to go see the doctor!). I've been lucky too - don't start a thread about near misses! :D :D

Although I think Lee's experiences will top the thread (not counting major kitesurf accidents).

Kitesurfing- MCL tear, torn abdominals.

Landboarding- Cracked Heel

Buggying- Third breast thanks to buggy landing on my chest.

The MCL and the heel took the longest to recover.

So Jason, do you actually have 3 breasts now?

I think there would be a good market for third breasts?

Worst injury was when I was lofted on beach with a Mosquito 5.5M kitesurfing foil. Fractured lumbar vertebrae, fractured fibia, never went to the doctor for years, then discovered the tibia never healed, gives me grief now.

lesson - if you get injured go see a doctor straight away!!!!

Jesus, that's some pretty serious injuries. I don't know how you could stand to NOT see a doctor with stuff like that, back injuries are by far the worst. How did you do anything after that with a fractured vertebrae?

It was extremely dumb of me for sure. I had experienced a bit of pain from similar injuries in the past (2 previous motorcycle crashes), so was a bit "used" to pain I guess. Anyway I managed to drive home, and then spent the next few weeks watching the 2000 olympics from a horizontal position, after they ended I got bored and started going down to the shop for as long as I could stand it, it came good over time and I forgot about it, until I got sick of the pain that remained and got myself checked out thoroughly.

No-one should ever do what I did though, and I am really paying for it now.

I 2nd that notion, go see a doctor! When i broke my ankle jumping in inlands gusty crap i did not go to the doctor. 4 weeks later when it still hurt like s&*t i did go to to a doctor. Turns out the ?ibia (the smaller bone, the one on the outside of your leg) was clean snapped. Right on the lump that sticks out on the outside of your ankle. Anyway.... it had healed already (4 weeks with a mountain bikeing ankle brace and crutches). I then had to see a specialist. He said it was OK but would hurt later.... it was 1mm out of place. He said he could re-break it and try healing it again.... and it may still be 1mm out so suggested not to bother.

It does hurt sometimes. Not where i broke it but the ligaments around it. Who knows though this may have been the case even if i had seen the doc.

ANyway two lessons learned.

1. Go see the doctor

2. Ignore your wife when she says "can you stand on it", yeah, "well then it's not broken you pusssy".

like steve.... i was used to the pain. I had had a few mtb accidents and i used to skateboard (fcuk concrete is hard..... you learn to live in pain)

It is always good to see a doctor and if you cant get up well then call an ambulance. Also it always pays to kite with friends rather than by yourself, so that if something happens you have someone there to help you out(i.e. a bad scenario would be if you got knocked unconscious and the kite is still attached to your harness fully powered without the safety being pull. That is when you need friends around. Although that didn't happen to me i was just using it as a example) I that kiting is safer with friends around know this fact for sure and would probably have had the worst injures on this thread to date with what has happened to me landboarding.

Too right Lee!!

There is no reason to not see a doctor, we have one of the best medical systems in the world, I was a complete dumb arse for sure and it cost me dearly.

What has happened to you in your landboarding adventures??
