it's just tooooooooo bright, especially when the wife and nipper are sat watching a film in the dark.

 

The qoutes are a nice brightness and are easyer to read than the main text due to the slightly darker backround. I still think the forum looks great though and I dont personaly find the brightness a problem but I can understan why some may.

it looks to me like its been copied from the guy sat in front of you and you got the angle wrong on the screen ( i hate this back drop colour )

 

also fine black writing on a white background distorts (fact )

I'm playing with a fix that will let Firefox users have a light-on-dark scheme, no promises though, there's a whole bunch of CSS files and I'm struggling to find a version that works.

 

There's a good reason for the style changing graphically, having chatted to rasga, both for technical and practical reasons...like I said, working on an independent user level workaround for those (like me) who find it too bright. If anyone else knows a bit of CSS and is happy to tinker I can happily post your user style sheet for download, give me a shout.

Horrible colour scheme - far too bright - especially on a colour calibrated monitor - and before anyone says it, no I cannot adjust the brightness or contrast on the monitor.

don't like it all all, avoiding the site now as its to much scrolling, hard to read etc. Is there a option to go back to the old style? Also the new posts, don't like the way it looks, should just be a topic, time will tell and traffic on the site will show if it works or not

Well for all the hard work you've done you deserve praise but TBH I don't like it!!! ;-) but then I am 43 and we don't like things changing, shops/banks and parks always stayed in the same place when we were young!!

The real trouble is there's no real work left for you yooves to do!! no manufacturing, designing,.... making stuff cos the world's gone all international.

Hmm, Not made up my mind yet. I can see that the brightness could be an issue with those who are feeling "tired and emotional" but that's never me.

 

In honour of the change, I've decided that the old avatar had to go, I'm still looking for something I like, but it might be this one.

BTW, what is the "Bar Zone" icon at the bottom of the page supposed to do? (Next to where it says "quick navigation") It seems a bit daft having this bring up a scroll box, I'm guessing this is a fault as it's hardly quick.

Can I just say that browsing in IE6 is very difficult due to many overlaps on the screen. When trying to reply to a PM the other day I could not even see what I was typing - Not sure if this has been fixed.

 

The obvious answer is not to use IE6, but unfortunately my company uses it for all 6000+ employees and we don't get an option .

 

 

Additional - Does anyone know how to access the sent messages folder in PMs?

Not in IE6 you don't! But the most of the screen looks like bits of the page have been torn up and scattered onto it from a great height anyway so it might be hidden under somthing else.

I like it. I didn't like the dark scheme and changed it to the light one like this anyway. When you use word processors, do you all have them set on dark background and light text?

Well, i said i wasn't going to comment until the changes were completed and according to the banner at the top of the page:

 

"As you can spot, we have changed a bit. We know that some areas are still a bit rough the edges, but we will try and get these sorted over the next few days."

 

So i will with hold judgement until its all done and dusted
