You can always park by the Rangers building and just walk over the top of the dunes.

Turn left at the mini roundabout just before the beach entrance where the payment kiosk is and go along to the small car park at the end of the road.

If youre a buggy or landboard dude then paying is the way easier option, as you need to get to the other side of the Summer barrier which is a major hike down the beach, and remember if you're kitesurfing that the Rangers hut is the Northerly limit.

I think in Summers gone by they reduced the charge late in the afternoon but as Stuart says in these council cash strapped times they charge full whack. A season beach permit is £40.

What a wet and miserable Saturday.........chin up people! It's to be followed by a windy and sunny Sunday!

HT at 9. Westerly teens and sun creme!

...and the better half is smiling cos the reds won!

Thanks Stuart.

Went out for a wave session, turned and spotted a huge lagoon just opposite the cars and came back racing in really fast. Thought I could read the water when the fins hit a sneaky sand bank and I went ass over tit!

Dusted off the shame and sped off, then I noticed my index finger joint was a funny shape...crap. Pushed and pulled it a bit but the pain got bigger. Got it strapped up at the moment, finger looks straight but the end inch won't straighten entirely. Don't want to wait ages in the hospital and end up with a plaster cast like I did last year so hoping by the morning the joints might have a eased a bit.

Only bit of brightness is the forecast looks pretty pants for the rest of the week so I ain't missing nowt!

Neat session even with the pain and the beach half shut due to the HT. That NNW meant no big deal, just keep away from the swimmers and the newbies.

Great to see the mighty P again, pulling great stuff and proving, despite the outage, he ain't lost nowt. Was watching for the trademark backflip kiteloop but I missed it. Next time dude.

Back from the dale , Rattled up 13 mile in the buggy slow going in morning session bang on northerly wind meant plenty of tacking up n down the beach to be done . Stopped for dinner then wind picked up to nearly mid teens and came bang on shore . Game on reached 27mph on my fixed bridle 7m samurai before the tide came in. Only one other kiter on the beach a landboarder , does no one bother with wheels here anymore ? Got my fix at least back to hoylake next time for me though !

Saturdays end to the Summer looks a brilliant day.

XC promises NW high teens, sunshine and a HT at 8 so infillinf lagoons to play in all afternoon.

As an aside, how can COBS be bust again. Anything with a posh name like the "Coastal Observatory" you'd think would be a site with ace uptime. It's real accurate but so utterly unreliable.

Hopefully be down as the tide turns. Still got the finger splint on but that medicinal liqueur works wonders.

Dude you get the worm! 9.35 now that's early Stuart!

Yep I'll be down, but that tide is still on its way out, I'm deffo an in-filling goon type person. Waiting till it gets on the turn before i step in, so an early afternoon kick off for me.

10/10 for dedication though buddy!

Cracking day! On the edge with the 11 but I forgot how sexy being so close to a wipeout is!

Red faced newbie mistake with a line falling off on launch, but one day even Carl will slip up!

Cake and courage goes to Adam for having the balls to launch his 11 and keep with the faceplants long after we'd all left. The dudes bitten and will be a master at it soon enough.

Possible Sunday session, if the blondes watching the game.
