yep fantastic new years day at pembrey cheers tony and mike, now know wot is meant by a wet beach jesus good job i had me wet gear on. just hosed the buggy down on the patio it looks like a beach now, i think by the end of the year i will have brought back about a ton of pembrey :) legs are aching bad today did not know how much effort you needed to push on the pegs to keep yourself in the buggy, the beach was rippled this time and was harder work with crosshore winds. blowing a good 22-28mph which was nice and was great to fly close in with tony to get a feel for wot racings like, a good buzz but bloody hard work 10 mins and goggles blocked with sandy water.

Was a great day Greg, I wasn't tired at the time but am feeling the effects today.

Need to source some splash / mud guards, I got soaked the first time and couldn't see on other runs, not that it made any difference to my driving skills. Will sort out the harness for next time, may do a Mikey Mustard mod to the Ozone harness.

When's the next trip, soon I hope

Lets hope the rest of the year pans out like this. Got to clock more flying miles this year. I'm going to keep a record and see how many total miles I can do in a year? It was a superb day and well worth the early night on a new years eve. Great beach and great company.

Well, Hearsall / Cleeve peps, this is what we got up too . . .

Arrived, de-kitted, built buggies, met some other fliers in the car park, (nice to meet you guys) and we were on the beach for 10:15 ish, winds 12 to 16 building to 16 to 20 and dropping again.

First time on a beach without a land board, meh :( , how ever the beach was quite soft in places, whilst running on Eurotraxx I still had to work the kite like buggery to get moving in some patches.

On his 1st run, Greg managed to find the biggest puddle on the beach and went straight through it :D, enter a very wet Greg

I started and continued on a 5m and went captive for the first time, as I couldn’t fit in the bug with my mystic harness (twas the buckles fault honest) I used an Ozone Base harness, with some sailing sheet thru the loop, on which I attached the Wichard and must admit it worked fine

My first attempt started with what all I can call “an unusual reverse launch”, maybe Greg can tell it from his point of view . . . . .

I experienced my first OBE, sucked out of the back of the bug and then landed rather gracefully, a bit like Ironman, apart from the fact that he’s not a fat old Tw*t with the grace of an Elephant, but I look at the experience as a result, because I have no bruises.

At full tilt I had to fly one handed, and it was a good experience, easily sine waving the kite. Later I shortened the loop and was able to grasp both handles, I am planning to shorten the link by cutting the snatch block rivet and using a bolt, this should give me about 25mm less reach, so it should be bang on, or thereabouts.

I think I could have land boarded on the sands heading up to Mablethorpe, it was compact enough to have gotten some fast runs in, but it was good to get out in the buggy and go captive.

Unfortunately The Clock Fish and Chip shop is up for sale, so we should make the most of it while we can, me thinks.

The 'Dark Side' hasn't seduced me (so far) as I still prefer Flying on a Land Board, it just feels so much more involved, but, I must admit it was an awesome experience without undue arm stretching and I look forward to the next away day.

That's 2 beach trips so far in 2013 :)

Thanks for driving Greg.

P.S. Last year was very poor at Hearsall, at one time I saw thats Ducks had taken up residence in the pools of water on the Common.

I hope this year is better because I have really missed the after work sessions.

Fingers crossed for this year thou.

Any how, here's one for Ady . . . .

A bloke clothed only in a dressing gown was waiting in a Doctor's waiting room, patiently waiting for his appointment.

When he was called, he walked into the Doctor's office and dropped his robe, for the Doctor to see that he was covered head to toe in cling film.

The doctors looked at the patient and stated, non nonplussed:

I can clearly see your nut's.

Rugby, that brings back some memories:

1st time being seriously spanked by a 3m in a gust, can't remember any of it !

Getting a bridal around a rugby post and looking for a long broken branch to free it.

Dave breaking an extreme line.

Some one chasing a new kite with their trousers by their ankles :)

The Polish girl's first time in a buggy, didn't she do well

And that awesome flier on his LEI, jaw dropping kite skills, where did he go for the winter, Morocco, mark if my memory serves me correctly?

My word what a disaster area . . . . . Yep . . . I'm definitely up for it, must remember to pack an extending clothes line prop and a camera :)

Hope my skills have improved over the last 9 months so that I can make the best of the field, What was the best wind direction?

Must start to pack my gear in the car for those opportune times after work.

Hearsall was still water logged today, bring on the Sun and conditions to dry it out.
