Stuntman Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Hey guys, As a newb to the world of power kiting,...or should that be a born again power kiter.. I dunno ... anyway...... Pansh... Lots of emotions when one looks up this name, but are they worth having one or two in your kit? Especially with respect to the newer stuff. Lots of the comments and reviews seem a bit dated and from what I pick up, Pansh are continually improving. So whats the latest thoughts. If your looking to extend your wind range , have a beater kite ready, etc are they worth it. Sure there cheap, but are they worth it (if you know what I mean) Flame suit on, locked and loaded - popcorn in the microwave . Fire away guys Quote
Goz Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 They seem to be charging more for their kites of late than when they first hit the market and their lines are still garbage from what I have seen so by the time you buy one and then purchase some decent lines and handles you would probably have been better off buying one of the beginner kites from HQ, PKD or Ozone. To be honest I would have a look at buying a Beamer, Buster or Flow as another kite to add to your collection. Quote
jdhot Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Stuntman, Come to Kitetober next weekend, speak to HP or myself and try one for yourself I'll also have a lot of other kites you can try as well, so as a lot of the other guys too TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!! cheers JD Quote
spotter Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I have flown a couple of Pansh's. I have flown the Blaze, 3m ace and 5m ace. The quallity of the kites is ok but nothing compaired to the HQ or PDK. Lines and handles are, lets put it nicely, Crap. If you are just after a kite and use lines and handles from other kites you have, then the pansh's are ok when looking at the higher aspect ones. The ace's have some good power and some good lift in the bigger sizes to be a nice kite for the price. I would stay away from smoething like the blaze tho. The 5m Ace, i am able to fly in 7-8 knots and still puts on some good pull as long as you are working the kite. in about 10 knots, if working the kite you can get some static jumps. Much over about 15knots it is about time to change down to something smaller. I dont have this kite but it is a mate of mines and have flown it a couple of times. The 3m Ace seams to have the same sort of power as a 4m beamer. However it is no where near as stable. This is my kite and dont have lines and handles for it so it is not flown oftan as it is a pain to change lines and handles over all the time. It is a quick kite and should be able to get some decent speed from it. Going to play with it more over the summer. The 3m Blaze is ok for a kite if you cant borrow other peoples kite and you have never flown power kites before. Much more than that, they are not worth the effort. The power in them just dont stack up well with other kites the same size that I ahve flown. I went halfs with a mate for the 5m and 3m ace in some package deal they were doing, was about $250 for both, one set of lines and one set of handles. Not a bad option if you need some kites to fill a quiver and very little cash. Pansh has a place in the power kites but with so many options available here in Aust, you would be better off getting something locally that has decent lines, decent handles even if they cost a little bit more. One thing I will give Pansh, their postage is FAST. If they have the kites in stock, you can expect them to arrive in a week. Quote
.Joel Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!! JD has some wise words, take a look here we have a heap of kites in our demo system, including the Pansh Kites. viewforum.php?f=65 In short, the Pansh kites fly well, however the handles are junk. The kites themselves are quite good for the money, but you need to add the cost of a set of lines and handles to it. Regards, .Joel Quote
plummet Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 power kiting is a dangerous sport. its made more dangerous by using cheap equipment. my advice don't do it. save up and buy a reputable brand or buy a good s/h kite. Quote
Stuntman Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Good advice guys . I haven't pushed the button and at this stage probably won't - will have a go at some different kites at kite-tober. I have a 4m beamer III and a 3.5m ozone imp quattro - just gotta control the newbie exuberance but I am looking for something with a little more than the 4m beamer and am hovering on a 5m crossfire I. Not point denying it - the $$ on the pansh got me just a little excited - but I'd rather buy once than twice. Anyway keep the pansh discussion going. I am sure others will get some benefit from a newer discussion too. and I haven't finished my popcorn Quote
Oooo Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 stuntman if you looking at the HQ crossfire then go for it they are a good kite and as you can tune them a bit should suit what you are looking for i'v flown a 6.5 and had a blast and they seem to have heaps of grunt too and yes i have to say too TRY BEFORE YOU BUY !! regards mike ps there are lots of kites out there not all suit everyone the same !!! fly as many as you can !!
