  1. andy, just saw the thread, I got a access 2 8M a couple of years ago, its in my quiver and a very good kite, suitable for over 20mph, although you have a kite now, its worth keeping your eye out on ebay etc. I had poor response from PKSF in getting response, never mind insurance, took less than a week with BKSA so would use them every time. PKSF website seems years out of date too! Just waned to say the good thing about the access is its a depower, but also has an adjustable shackle to even more adjust the range of the kite.
  2. Your right, I should check the tides, but I did know it was on shore, so up and down was not a problem. Its just that you cant seemed to get as far as I remember
  3. You might be as well with a small trailer with clamps on top to carry the buggys and then all your gear can go inside?

    Annoyance

This is the rules of karma, you will be pleased to know that somewhere int he world someone was having a good, day when you next have a good day, feel sorry for someone else....!!
  5. Hi all, been a few years since i went, but decided to get all the necessary to fly at ainsdale again this year, got everything in place and went last weekend. Wind was ok and chose wrong time to go as the tise was high, but there was very little space up and down, until you get to the middle fence, went past this once and a bit further on to the far fence, but wind was at a bit of an angle here so not so good. But have to say I didnt think it worth all the hassle of getting the red tape. Also found a warden following me, bear in mind there was 10M of beach he asked me to not fly my kite over the dog walk, 6ft to my right, was, the sea..... Are they real?
  6. Jamie sorry for the delay. Can you tell me what waist you are and how the fit was when you got it? Mine is a large bt it spins round now. can do paypal. Let me know and I will let you know my address. 07813792783 steve
  7. Hi, looking for a new seat harness as my dakine is too large I think, lost loads of weight and it rides around when I turn in the bug! How much are youlooking for? what payment methods can be used? steve
  8. thanks all, I think there maybe health and safety issues with a mankini riding up with a harness!!
  9. Hi, thansk for your post. I think its the mk11, I did a bit or research and think I saw what would be a mk1 on the net. It appears they are hard to get hold of, I tried to order this from online kites, they rang back to say they couldnt get one, got mine through powerkite shop who had to get it from germany. It seems pretty sturdy certainly more so than my radsail which is tin in comparison. The bearings look pretty stocky but I know what you mean about stainless. I will not be getting into anything as serious as jumping, not on purpose anyhow, to be honest its getting the chance to get out there, i am hanging on to this hobby, I see too many people sell all their stuff because they cannot find the time, I think thats unfortunate. I am hoping to go to ainsdale tomorrow, weather should hold up until lunch time.
  10. Guys, been out of the buggy scene for a couple of years, saw a few guys at mablethorpe, just wondered what you wear? Looks like a kind of lighter motorbike suit? jacket and trousers. I have tried the all in one dry biker suit but to be honest its a sweat bag? What do you wear, obviously its water proof and warm?
  11. Hi all not been here fro a while. I have finally given op on my radsil buggy, its been good but have used 3 seats up, last one finally gave way the other week at mablethorpe. Also realised i needed a more serious vehicle as I was being left for dead! Couldnt afford a huge big bug, so got myself a peter lynn folding buggy with wide wheels option, it looks a nice piece of kit, have to take the wheels of the back to make it fold anything reasonably small but should fit in the back of the corsa. Hoping to go to ainsdale this friday weather looks like it will be changing about midday from then on. Anyone any expeience of these bugs, and are radsails the only ones which suffered seat fallin apart?

    Viper?

I have a couple of vipers, when I got into buggys its the best I could afford to ensure I got a low lift kite. I have a 2m which I flown at ainsdale and it took me all the way to the limit of the beach and back a few times, excellent day, yes it is noisy, its the one you can hear 2 miles away, but not when its pulling I have to say. Also i have an orange 5M which is excellent, sometimes its the only kite i get out and flew it in france last year on holiday the whole time, was a waste of time taking the others, generally in clean 20mph winds and it was a dream, and no lift whatsoever, weird. The best thing about these kites is the turbo boost, want to go a bit faster? just pull on the brakes a little and feel the acceleration it gets a smile every time. Only thing is the damn things can be hard to land, best thing to do is keep flying until your knackered then let go and let the kite killers land it. There are usually some around on ebay and I got my 5M for £80 which for a great buggy engine is fab, and yes its out of date, but 2-300 pounds less for a couple of years get a vote from me. I have an access now but cant bear to sell the viper. They fly vey similar to skytigers, as in the brake effect etc but are longer and thinner. The 6.5 would be a brute but they can set up this wobble and I think the 6.5 might wobble a lot until its pulling, and it would certainly pull. I got my viper which the original flexi lines but they are very elastic, so I put the new lies on and transformed the kite and its quite quick handling now for its shape.
  14. Carl, your stuff looks so good, just tell any copper you bought it at a towbar shop...!!
  15. HI all, well went down at the weekend, or is it up? Driving was horrendous on friday night, nottingham is a **** place to get from on a friday... Camped at the site at mablethorpe well recommended. And yes although my childhood seaside haunts, its easy to think that cleethorpes and mablethorpe are near each other however its 25 miles of twisty lincs roads so about 50 mins and 1000 miles less rubber. Had a go on the beach at cleethorpes spoke to a couple of kite surfers who were very helpfull, if I had more time i would have maybe tried the beach at mablethopre but had to be back for family duties...
  16. gosh, an hour? I will have to check, surprisingly cant find any good old camp sites at cleethorpes. I spose being on this site I can leave the tent and go back later for a shower etc.
  17. there is a nice site at mablethorpe anyone interested, camping and caravan club, non members admitted and its cost me £5.45 for the night. Bonus is there are showers toilets etc etc. electric if you want, just depend sif you take the missus or GF and they want a hairdryer...
  18. checked at thorpe park £28.50 for a tent, Oooooh noooo someone was, lucky. there is a camping and caravanning site in mablethorpe, which looks like about £6 a night for a tent.
  19. thought about camping to go to cleethorpes buggying, any camp sites nearby?

    Flexifoil Skytiger

This was my first kite after having a stacker 6. I didnt get to fly it in reasonable winds for a while and i have to admit it scared the hell out of me, and that was just the anticipation. If you are beginning and you see one one ebay grab it as they really are a good kite to start with, but always worth having in the bag. The small ones are noisy i have a 2m viper and that is 'buzzy' dont know why, this one is quite and can generate immense pull, i have been dragged down many a beach with this kite both intentionally and not intentionally. The best thing about these kites, same as vipers, is that a bit of a increase on the brake lines is like the turbo coming in power wise, a great buggy engine with no lift and if you want that turn of speed just slowly put pressure on the brake and you will feel the buggy accelerate by 5 or 10 mph or more, down side is that it can be very difficult to overcome that, begin to put the brakes on for real and bring the thing down, the best method is kite killers, which I dont remember if they were around when i bought the kite, but they save you loosing it. I picked up a 5M viper last year on ebay and its a good addition to the skytiger. Wind speed? well, whatever you can manage it in and depends on your weight, this kite is very entertaining in 25 mph winds and not for the faint hearted, a good buggy session could be had with the 40 in 15 to 22mph winds. For what you would pay, get rid of the boingy lines which may come with it, add some new flexi lines and you have a fast responding power house for very little money and you will always keep your first powerkite. Flexifoil Buzz

Although initially appearing maybe expensive for a small foil, I have to say in my experience of the kite world, you def get what you pay for except in rare circumstances, like the one we bought for 20 euros in a french supermarket, but the expense of generally finding such kites is unreasonable if you want one now! The buzz was aimed by flexi as a kite that any serious flyer could keep in their kit bag and on days when they didnt want to set up and had 20 mins to have a quick fly before going out etc its fine. Also family and friends can have ago with the buzz whilst you fly down the beach and wonder if your watchers will be there when you ge back. Its very easy to fly and responses are exactly like those of all its bigger brothers from the stable. Its predictable copes with gusts, and will fly the window very well, the feedback is good and very little input needed to get it 'buzzing' around, it can be flown by lazy and quick hands alike and will respond, even if you crash it, its quite easy to launch on your own from the handles, just flick it sideways with one line, let the wind move it and roll it over, as soon as an open cell points skyward and flick on the opposite handle and up it goes. An easy size to handle and you can shake sand etc out very easy. You get 2 18M flexi lines which i think are 100kg and a winder, a very cool stuff bag which it all goes into within about 5 mins or less, you can get it out and flying in about 3 mins. I would def recommend the Buzz to anyone interested in flying kites as a starter, there is no maintenance with this kite, as long as you can tie a larks head knot within 5 mins from new you can be flying it. It does what it says on the tin so the only variable is the flyer, hence fun is guaranteed as long as there is at least 5mph of wind. There is no upper limit to the Buzz wind range, i did read that someone went buggying with one in 40mph+ winds and no reason why you couldnt. So to sum up, yes £50+ is a lot to pay for a small foil, but its worth it and will last forever and your friends, kids and family can have a go and not get carried away or rip your £300 kite. I guess the est benefit is the kids starting out on a kite like this. By : Styve100
  22. Hi all, would like any updates as to where the snow might be, 4 inch would be enough, radius from nottingham, buxton maybe?
  23. Guys looking at getting a depower, just looking over the HQ Apex, they do a 7.5 and a 10, most people tend to recommend the biggest you dare or can afford, so it will always do what you need once youve learnt to fly it. My question, at about 80kg and a buggy normally happy flying a viper 5m would a 7.5 apex be too small sometimes? mostly inland but occasional beach use. what would the equivalent depower range of a 10M be? I figure the 7.5 would be 2.5 to 5 maybe? cheers
  24. Looking for an entry into depower for the buggy, budget is limited and saw these for 379 for an 8m depower. Wondered if anyone has used or knows of the kite, initail reviews seem good
  25. Hi all, last few times out with buggy have been watching these guys with depowers. Whilst the kites I have are great buggy engines and stable enough, the gusty winds we had this weekend, whilst good speeds, still gusty, saw me trying to constantly maintain the kite and keep moving, after what seems to be a reasonable session, i only went up the field a couple of times, whilst constantly 'laped' by these other guys. some had busters, which seemed great, but I seem to be hanging after one of these depowers, maybe the radsail evo? understand the evo2 is out now? budget is low and these may fit, also reviews generally good, so what do you think? My current large kite is the 5m viper, a great kite but as a long kite its 'boingy' in gusty wind, and i know dated, but £50 on ebay as new cannot be beaten. Flexi's are very stable kites in most winds but when i watch these depowers its like there are flying in different wind to me??
