  1. Ted, who posts on here, lives in Bristol and flys a Guerilla...he's on hol at the mo but mail him and I'm sure you'll get some good advice Ian
  2. write to the MP Nick Harvey at harveyn@parliament.uk
  3. ditto to that...Kite Ground Boarding is AWFUL!!! Keep it simple...it's KITEBOARDING!
  4. the hotel is 4-5 star and so £100 per night minimum...the chalets are £600 a week or so...there's lots of campsites but if you're feeling hard just walk some way along the beach when it gets dark and bivi in the dunes (great for very early morning sessions on a completely empty beach) to summarise...landboards yes, buggies banned, walk 500m up the beach from the Saunton entrance, going in from Braunton Burrows is a VERY long walk, you should only kite once past the red pole but it often seems to be missing/fallen over...just go far enough to be away from all the 'normal' punters...
  5. yep...all sold out...bugger...
  6. we were there this weekend...light winds on Saturday, slightly better on Sunday - OK for the 4.9 or the Frenzy, strong on Monday, great for kitesurfing but no-one out on land...I was managing to get towed on the board with a 1.5m sport kite! btw the red pole is back ...it used to be down on the beach but it's now at the top of one of the dunes...still some 4-500m down the beach from the northern car park
  7. the red post disappeared a couple of weeks ago...but if you go some 5-600m along the beach you should be beyond most of the other beach users...
  8. yeah there's no problems landboarding on the sand there (buggies are banned though)...just make sure you walk some way along the beach away from all lardarse sunbathers...
  9. might see you there then
  10. this Clay Lane place sounds interesting...safe from yobs in the evening you think? for a slightly longer weekend trip try Saunton Sands...much much better than Uphill, well worth the drive...
  11. and where is the shop? What's it called?
  12. but the fact that you've owned a lot of kites doesn't mean to say that you can fly them either well or responsibly... there's no way manufacturers or shops are going to restrict the number of kites they can sell... and I wouldn't want to see restrictions - yes you get some plonkers but that's better than the alternative of having lots of rules, restrictions, permits, licences, etc...keep this an easy-going, easy-access pastime...don't turn it into something for licence holders only...

    Newquay

the Newquay beaches are probably too busy to fly kites safely, Perranporth would be OK at low tide along to the right hand side beyond the headland (looking out to sea), there are restrictions - do a search on here for them there was a thread a few weeks back - and if you break them the Life Guards will be sure to point out your error to you...Watergate will be fine and probably your best 'kite friendly' option, Gwithian is huge and worth the trip if the others are just *too* busy...
  15. Bristol to Saunton or Westward Ho! is two hours in the car... Saunton is a wonderful place...well worth the extra effort of getting there over Uphill...you can board even at high tide (except on spring high tides) and at half tide or less there is *lots* of space Make sure you go beyond the 'red pole' that you'll see at the top of the beach just below the dunes...it's some 500m beyond the entrance and only a metre high so maybe difficult to spot...basically go beyond any other people and you'll be OK remember that Saunton is boards (land or sea) only...no buggies allowed...don't know why this is but if this is messed up we could all lose the beach...
