Hi Lem, Vince and I use Slingshot fuels excusively for landboarding and surfing, I use them because I loved Fuels on the water and rarely drop my kites - so why not on land - Vince uses them because he has no kites of his own!!! I am totally sold on use of LEI's (especially Fuels) for all disciplines, so much so that I sold all my G's. I was feeling particularly smug about this until Sunday when the wind was squally and gusty like f##k! Vince and I decided to put the kites down and step away - fine for water in these conditions but on land - forget it! That and the fact we only had a 13 and a 15 - with gusts comming in at around 30mph+...Hmmmm:( All this being said, I would only recommend LEI's on land to VERY experienced flyers, noobs need to do their time on foils and then work up. Also, I would not recomend use of LEI's on land on a very crowded beach (both punters and other flyers) Not used 5th line, so can't comment on that Phil S-B

Now with the added attraction of Kite surfers. All traction kiters have been told to use this area for a little over a year, but now Kite surfers have to use the same area: Jurys Gap. This is going to make things more than a little difficult during busy summer days! Things are a little sensitive at Camber currently, please take care and avoid the areas in front of the Cafe's and the dunes. Remember, only fly on the eastern end of the beach. Thanks, Phreak.

To be honest, the picture does not look good. I know the seasonal ban started at Easter but I'm not sure when it is supposed to end. Basically, all traction kites and Surf kites are going to be in the same area, Jury's Gap, at the eastern end of the beach, where the shingle car park is. As there are sea defences at this end of the beach, and as the road is just behind this end of the beach, it effectively precludes an surfing at or near high tide. Also, I am picturing the scene on a busy windy summers day of Buggies and ATB's flying up and down, noobie kite surfers trying to walk their kites through the buggies and ATB's, and non kite flying members of the public sitting down for the day right in the middle of it all. It's a mess! No thought given to Launch and landing areas, or the erection of KITE ZONE signs to at least alert members of the public that this is a kite flying area. I have contacted Rother district council for clarification, but that was over a week ago and I have had no reply. For further information on the situation at Camber Call Kites on Board: 01797 229 453 or e-mail: mailto:shop@kitesonboard.com

Hi, No Camping allowed on the Beach. There is a Campsite near the Jury's Gap end of the beach. ALSO, No flying is allowed anywhere along the Café and the Dunes end of the beach. The only place you can fly is Jury's Gap end of the beach, near the gravel car park. This is a seasonal ban that started at Easter. Things at Camber are very sensitive at the moment, local flyers would really appreciate the co-operation of anyone wishing to Buggy, KiteATB or Surf at Camber. There is at present only a sign saying no Buggy's (possibly no KiteATB's), but the seasonal ban on use of any part of the beach west of Jury's gap goes for all who wish to Buggy, KiteATB or Surf. I am not wishing to sound heavy about this, and I do not speak for all local flyers, I just don't want to see my local spot facing a total ban for all kite flying activities. Cheers Phreak.

Jono, I am going to buy a wakeboard. I contacted a shop (wakesport) and discussed the merits, they said they sell a lot of wakes to Kiteboarders. I have ridden Vince's board and it's the nicest most comfortable board I have ridden. The extra width seems to give a lot more stable ride. I am a big guy at nearly 17st and I think the wide style may be more suitable for bigger riders? Also, Wake boards look way, way cooler! The designs are interesting! What is it with the boring designs on kiteboards? I think it's probably a hangover from the boring windsurfer fraternity!!!!! Ooops, see what I did there...? Cheers, Phil

Got one, totally stupid fun! On a serious note thought, they are very cheaply made Chinese imports (via Germany) and the one wheel chain drive is not up to scratch at all. I got mine very cheaply on e-bay at just over £100 plus postage which made it around £150 in total. At that price it's an affordable bit of fun. I strongly recommend that people do not buy these machines at some of the prices I have seen quoted £300+, they are just not worth it and the build quality is not up to more than a bit of "fun" usage. Also, if your usual spot is the beach, think again, usually no motor driven vehicles allowed. Try to find a deserted bit of rough ground - but even deserted ground belongs to someone, so be prepared to get thrown off - the ebgine is very loud, people will hear you! Also, don't ride the thing to your secret spot, you will get nicked! My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Motorboard is: 1. Think about where you will be able to ride it first. 2. Where full protective kit (Helmet, Pads, Wrist Guards and even Body Protection if you can afford it) 3. Be prepared for it to be a short lived bit of fun (purely because of the poor build quality) Other than that, Enjoy!

I'll be down on Saturday and Sunday with either a 10 or 15m Guerilla, I'll gladly show you the ropes on a mountain board...I have a Keo Air S by the way. Also my wife is starting to get together some shots for a DVD on Kite Landboarding, so if anyone is going for a big slam could they give her advance warning so that she can film it! lol She'l also be down on Sunday filming, depending on Weather. Let's hope we can get some evidence on film of Vinces Kite Lanboarding genius! Seriously though any good boarders out there need to get down this weekend if they want to be captured on this DVD. Melly was the Warden very specific or was it just a throw away comment, he has been known to say things like "soon you lot won't be allowed here" in the distant past and nothing ever came of it. Did he mention Buggies, Mountain Boards, Kite Surfers or was it just a general thing? Did he mention a seasonal dimention or just total ban? Sorry to interogate you like this but it's a huge deal for all of us I guess! Cheers Phil -

Morning all! Thanks for the kind words Ozone Friendly! It was indeed a rough night with that thought lingering. Good on ya Melly! More of those please... Vince, I'm not suprised you are a little hungover you sounded totally gone on the phone, despite your protestations of being totally sober! I like this thread, what was it supposed to be for again? Only I think we may have wandered slightly, what with Melly's speedos and Vinces new girlfreind? Phil -

Sorry guys it must be my age and poor eyesight, but for a moment there I could have sworn that Melly had just posted: "You should have come to Greatstone and seen my speedo's" This planted a rather disturbing image in my head involving Melly and the kind of swimwear that resembles a cheese wire on and edam! I think I should go to bed now... -

Vince could get his new GIRLFRIEND to phone in for him!!!!!!!!! ;) ;) -
Am I the only one with a massive hangover and totally messed up sleep patterns? Vince is doing his best to convince me to come down. Like Melly, I will probably take a look at Camber and then head to Greatstone for cleaner wind. Also, Greatstone had a vast amount of hard compacted sand the other day, almost no soft a sand to speak of... I'm going to get back to nursing my mamouth hangover (feels like it's going to be a two dayer!) Phil

Skytigerer, What are you going in the Buggy forum anyway?

Oh dear, He (MD) is a little precious isn't he. Vince do you remember the last time we lent a m'board and kite to a former world ranked kitesurfer? The results were a little more than comic weren't they? Kite loops? Well, probably no and indeed we were joking, but all the rest yes, they are possible but not by ordinary mortals (w'kend riders). Pro Kite Landboarders (these do exist now) are already nailing such tricks and that is the context in which our earlier comments should be taken. But then you have never met Vince, so how I wonder could you presume to know his level of skill - he regularly nails on land, all the tricks he can do on water. On the whole though, I agree with Vince - not a bad post from MD there...
