    What GPS?

Garmin ETrex thing. It was the cheapest. Works just fine. I found a site selling the connectors for garmin GPSs and made my own cable, saved a few bob there.
  2. How do I go about attaching a strop to my flexi handles, for a harness with an open roller? I was thinking about using some climbing cord (6mm, or heavier to protect roller) attached to the handles somehow, perhaps with some lower diameter cord around the power line leaders. Does this sound reasonable. Any other ideas. The above would be cheap and easy to tune, but the obvious disadvantage is the lack of a QR. Is it worth springing for a brand strop with a QR? These all look to be designed for bars, are any suitable for handles.
  3. My apologies. Sometimes, it can be very difficult to tell the difference between 'tongue in cheek' and 'head up ar*e'.
  4. Enough with the wining on about rep already, it's gone, deal with it. Anyway, giving out rep where deserved (as in this case) became pointless once the 'whoring' took over and rep became meaningless green blobs.
  5. Probably a good idea, but it depends on what the goals would be. The kiting world appears fragmented enough so you'd have to be sure there's a real purpose for a group before starting another one. In terms of organising meets, publicising issues and promoting a sense of community amongst kiters then great. Maybe this is where Owain's site could get its big break: http://www.tractionkiting.co.uk/ For representation, to the local council for example, it might be better if we could appear more national rather than local. It doesn't seem to be so bad in Scotland, but there are plenty problems in Engerland with locally negotiated access and, in the extreme, 'club only' beaches.
  6. Needs a big kite to pull it though...
  7. Sadly there was a light to moderate loss of composure during the incident, becoming severe later, which may have given the game away just a bit.
  8. Work, sadly. You're right though, it is a tremendous beach. Do you park at the bridge or round by the country park place? So there are some kiters in East Lothian then, I floated a thread months back with no real response. I've been out at Belhaven a few time, saw two other buggiers once but other than that, the only kite in the sky. If you see a big green Landy, come over and say hello. p.s. just noticed your location, is it not a bit of a haul from Orkney to Dunbar?
  9. Excellent picture, looks like a sore one, is the top foot caught in the strap?
  10. I think they were German, I never did get a translation of the word 'kitentosser'.
  11. Fecksplat: a poorly controlled slide into a high side with the buggy flying over your broken body. Bonus points for a couple of cute lasses laughing at you. http://www.urchaidh.com/stuff/fecksplat.jpg
  12. Thanks, maybe should have tried Google first. Seeing as you're all so helpful though, do Square Metre have a website?
  13. YES! I took a one day lesson when I started, I can't say that I learned very much but what I did learn proved invaluable in getting started - turning was the main thing. I'd been static flying for a bit so the kite handling was a bit redundant.
  14. Aye, but well worth seeing again! Thanks!
  15. So where can I get one?
