  1. Try www.windscooting.com I am a BIG boy at 98 kg and have used them for a couple of years now with no damage. The biggest geezer to ride was 114 kg and he was pulling jumps and stunts and all kinds of crazy sh*t and still couldn't bend the board. Brilliant for carving, blasting and generally fooling around and the new economy ones look pretty cool to me. They are a lot easier to ride than they look, don't need much pull to get you going ( 6.2M3 gin Yoz in 4 to 8 mph winds is the lowest I've been out in) Won't pimp anymore, give em a go.
  2. I was down at Saunton 2 weekends ago and there was at least 10 other people on mountainboards and a couple of people on buggies. Everything seemed to be cool and groovy and no one told me or any of the others that we couldn't play there. There is a car park right on the beach (Almost) and you just have to walk for about 5 minutes to get away from Joe Public when you are setting up and basicaly everyone was staying away from families and others and burning it up. Awesome beach when the tide is out and I haven't had so much fun since the hogs ate my sister. Maybe there is a ban there but I couldn't see anything about it on the beach but then again I wasn't really looking as I could see the kites and boards and that was enough for me.
  3. I reckon the Kitescooter is innovative and revolutionary, can be built down to 4.7kg, goes like stink is easy to ride no speed wobbles just about indestructible and is pretty funky looking. www.windscooting.com Nuff said, it broke the mould. Anyone down at Saunton last weekend might have noticed the Geezer on the Gorilla ripping it up...the first time on a two wheel landboard board for him was Saturday afternoon....nuff said The fatone
  4. Hey Markarse, I love that handle, if you make it to Middle Wallop there will be kitescooters there check them out and have a go. For the people in the know there is nothing that compares for too many reasons to list. I've done my fare share of pimping and am quite happy to let the scoot speak for itself now, take a ride and your eyes will be opened. Maybe the stylin moves the young studs like aren't available yet because it's the older boys who are turning onto what it has to offer but it is only a question of time before some of the youth have a go and find new ways to milk an inline board and do sh*t we wouldn't even consider. All the blurt about not being stable at low speeds and hard to ride is just that blurt, and definately hasn't come from anyone who has ridden a kitescoot. Nuff said, tap any of the troops up and you will be riding within minutes catching bugs in your teeth. The fatone;)
  5. Check out the kitescooter on www.windscooting.com another alternative to the 4 wheel boards, an inline kitescoot that has lots to offer. You will see some at Middle Wallop, have a go with all alternatives and see how you feel about inline boards then. The fateone
  6. As long as my plane doesn't crash I will be at Middle Wallop and I am trying to get Marc the designer/manufacturer to come too. I will bring a few different development boards and a couple of current production models with me and am happy to let anyone have a go, just have your kite and I will lend you some wheels. Lets hope there is some wind and not too much rain, not asking for much am I? PS Kitefreak check out http://www.windscooting.com details are there and the contacts also if you want to find out more. 8. Hello Srod, my windscooter does weigh 8 kg but it is the version for use with a sail so the weight isn't an issue and is light for a "land yacht". My Kitescooter a B125 with 12" wheels tooled up and ready to go weighs 6.3 kg, My 110 special with 10" wheels weighs 4.6 kg. The weight depends on which wheels and tyres you use, the 12" wheels and tyres are heavy but smooth to ride with over most surfaces. The alloy frame, deck and straps weigh just under 2kg and the rest comes from the wheels and tyres. The windscooter is different as it has a stainless steel frame and carbon composite deck as well as large wheels mastfoot etc however it is a different tool for a different job. Power sliding the back wheel with a kite on wet grass or sand is no big deal, the front will stay tracking where you point it and the back will drift where you want it, check the vids on the site and you will see Marc doing just that. For straight mountain board riding I haven't sussed how to drift the back yet but Marc does it quite happily on wet grass by getting his weight forward. For kiting there isn't a problem with the rails decking out but if you have BIG feet (I don't) your back foot heel can touch down if you are really cranked over but it isn't often that you would get that far over, again watch the vids and see the carving and how quick and fast it is, I have never decked out yet with a kite. For straight downhill aggresive riding in woods and rough ground etc you will deck the rails and spin out if you ride it like a 4 wheel board. At the end of the day the kitescooter and windscooter are both primarily designed for either kite traction or sail power not boarder cross or freestyle mountainboarding, the deck/frame is a bit too inflexible for that. For high speed downhill blasting it is a hoot and although not as fast as a dirtsurfer for outright top speed I would say it is more stable and easier to control but don't want to get into an argument about it. Dirtsurfers rock and so do the kite/windscooters. Kite/windscooters are small, really functional, well tough and easy to ride. A flexideck version would be interesting with 10" wheels and a disc brake for Boarder X and freestyle and maybe one will happen one day but for kite or sail power I can't see past what I already have. It is not just the weight that does you in for board tricks it is the length that is more important as inertia comes into play, a short board will spin and stop quicker and easier than a long board so a 4 wheel short ATB will be best a short Kitescooter next best and a Dirtsurfer last as they are so long. Horses for courses really isn't it. If you like high speeds, controlability, manoueverability and stabilty then the kitescooters need to be tried, not everyone's bag which is fair enough but there are a few of us enlightened people out there who have come to appeciate what a brilliant tool it is, not perfect admitedly but pretty damn close, if a flexideck version ever gets made then I think it will be an interesting weapon for boardercross and freestyle downhill, just have to wait and see if that ever happens. 9. The best kite specific board has got to be the "kitescooter" nuff said check the website. http://www.windscooting.com Seriously good simply indestructible tool and dead easy to ride
  10. I have a rake of Paraflysurf UDS tuned kites, 3 Warriors and 3 YOZ's, will be at Middle Wallop easy to spot I am the large old spazzy geezer falling all over the place but having a blast. Got the Spider bar and Sling system as well but havent used the sling yet as I haven't been home much. If you want a look or go keep your eye out for Orange and White GIN YoZ's or a Flysurfer with a carbon bar with Human attached to it and a kitescooter, tap me up I am not selfish The fatone
  11. Just for Kiting with a bit of downhill? check out http://www.windscooting.com for the vids it's as good as it gets with a kite and they are way down on price now. Tougher than old boots and small enough to fit in the back of a car. A few of us will be at Middle Wallop easy to spot and if you want a blast just tap us up. nuff said
  12. Check out http://www.paraflysurf.ch I have one of the CARBON SPIDER bars it is a true 4 line control bar and also the dogs nadgers by the way. Also has some other interesting control systems to offer. They ain't cheap but are high quality and can do anything you can with handles + more.
  13. check out the vids on http://www.windscooting.com and you will see some gybes being pulled off on a 2 wheel board.
  14. Gin YOZ with UDS by Paraflysurf, storming kite loads of power/depower and control with this set up and am pretty sure it would be nearly as good without the UDS but have never tried it. Check out http://www.paraflysurf.ch as the UDS can be applied to lots of kites.
  15. Can save you a lot of effort, check out www,windscooting.com the development work has already been done and it goes great.
  16. Newbie 6.2M gin Yoz, kitescooter wind 8 to 12 kts Isle of Wight, nothing doing on the water got the scoot out and riding on packed sand getting a wiggle on (going fast) flew the kite back too far popped up (about 8' so I am told) came down on my head unconsious and concussed, can't remember anything about it, how I got there who I was blah blah. That was the last time I rode without a helmet freaked too many people out. including me Getting mashed isn't fun for anyone, least of all the poor suckers who have their day wrecked looking after you, the hospital folk who patch you up and last but not least yourself. Don't BS yourself that you are going to be ok, crashes/accidents come out of the blue and are completely unexpected. That's what an accident is isn't it. Your macho sh*t or reasonable sounding excuses for not wearing at least a helmet don't count for much when you are vegatablized or lying in a hospital bed in traction. Think about it, visit the hospitals and meet some really unfortunate geezers who will say "if only I had...." plenty to ask in the A&E every weekend! It's a free world it's your choice and your life but remember where you will find sympathy, it's between sh*t and sypillis in the dictionary. Harsh but true Nuff said:)
  17. Hello PMB I have got a few development kitescooters at home and have been working with Marc the designer for about a year now to try and bring it on so that other people can get a chance to play on/with the coolest board there is. What can I tell you? It looks like it will be hard to ride but is actually easier than riding a bike and WAY easier than a 4 wheel mountainboard. Although it is a directional inline board that is all it has in common with a dirtsurfer, it feels completely different to ride and is rock solid even at walking pace. It¡¯s not as fast as a dirtsurfer because the wheels are smaller (12¡± are the largest wheels) but it is a lot smaller and lighter. It is the steering mechanism makes this board so easy to ride as it is so precise, you will be riding within a couple of minutes. I am not very good with a kite but am learning however at the moment I have been developing it for downhill runs more than with a kite as this is the market which is the biggest in the UK. All of my kitesurfing pals who have used it loved the solid feel and awesome speeds they were getting, you take off like a scalded cat, there are no speed wobbles or anything like that it just goes like a mad thing until your bottle runs out. The straps look strange (the same as the board) but once you have used this setup with a kite you will find like everyone else that it is the best arrangement especially for tacks and gybes and even just for straight downhill riding it¡¯s pretty damn good. We have used all the feedback we get from friends and companies to get all the variants as good as they can get and the kitescooter both aluminium and carbon and the windscooter are fully developed and ready for the general public now. The downhill board needs work doing on it as there is a distinct lack of ¡°POP¡± which is fine with a kite or sail but not so good for the rough stuff and next month we will be working with TRAMPA to get a flexi deck married to the board and see how it feels and performs. As it is just Marc and myself making these boards and all the components that go into them we have to pay punters prices for all those materials and that ain¡¯t cheap! There are a few distributors, TKC being one of them who have some of our demonstrators for evaluation and to see if they want to go with them and if that happens then obviously their bulk buying capacity will drive the costs down as they get all their stuff made in China, ours is made in the UK and Germany and so costs us more to make. When you look at the components and engineering involved in making small volume then you will appreciate that right now they are really good value for money. We don¡¯t use cheap bearings or materials and quality is what Marc and myself are right into so that the board will take serious punishment and come out smiling for many years. We don¡¯t think this board will ever be mainstream like the 4 wheel ATB¡¯s as it isn¡¯t bi-directional but will appeal to people who want the best tool for the job and for kite traction on packed sand or smoothish grass there is nothing out there that can touch it. How much time have you spent bumming around on the beach waiting for the wind blah blah, riding a 4 wheel ATB with a kite is one thing, riding a kitescooter is completely different and is (so I am told) just like riding a responsive fast directional kiteboard. Enough, if you want to see one and ride then contact me and I will organize it as you seem to live pretty close to me, my hotmail is chinachile@hotmail.com I am pretty confident that after an afternoon you won¡¯t be looking anywhere else for your kiteboarding kicks.
  18. Check out http://www.windscooting.com look at the vids, this guy has hit 55kmh with a windsurf sail, pulls some tasty gybes and stuff so you can see how it's done. I've got one of his development Aluminium kitescooters and it rocks, been hammering it for 9 months and haven't managed to break/bend anything yet. Getting the carbon deck model next month to try blasting with a rig, he suggests a 5.5m. If the windsurf model goes as well as the kitesurf board then I will be one happy bunny.
  19. Check out http://www.spartan.uk.com/suits_winter.htm I have the 3d pro drysuit they aint cheap but you pays your money and take your choice. Never been cold and never even thought about it, made really well you are as warm as you want to be, they don't restrict your movement in fact they are everything they say they are as well as being tough. Don't look pretty but do the job. Nuff said, splash out and don't look back.
  20. Airpowered, I might just come down your way and turn you on and then you will know why I am bubbling. I got this for the days I can't get on the water as there has been too much travelling for too little water time and there is only so much yapping you can do waiting for the wind and i just want to be going all the time. This compliments kitesurfing on a directional, same moves same feel. Practise on the sand is easier then on the water (hurts a bit more) but the edging feel and weightshift are all the same and the speed is scary fast. Have been using hills to get used to the speed but my only aim is kite traction 1st and last. There is a market for directional and mutants that is just as relevant as twin tips and those riders are the guys who will turn onto this and inspire newbies like me to achieve what they can, hell he even sells one with a windsurf sail on and that looks totally wild! Lots of windsurfer out there who could use an alternative. I'm Bubbling again better stop! I'm easy to recognise if you see me stop me and have a go, normally have the smallest Chinese lady you have ever seen by my side or on the other end of a kite
  21. You are right it is directional but it isn't unstable, I am an old 1.95m large geezer and I am stable and in control at slower than walking pace, once you relax you get in the groove and I can stay on while stopped for quite a while. My old lady who is a dwarf can stand without moving until she needs to pee....and that IS a long time your weight is under the axles and the tyres are FAT it all adds up to stability when slow and fast, I have seen the light and two wheels inline are it
  22. Ha Ha Ha not unless you are a circus clown! Never tried to actually, can't imagine why you would want to. This is a very different trip to a 4 wheeler and is not bi directional but if you are riding slopes who cares and if you are riding with a kite then you have to learn to jibe or tack and change your feet if you must but toeside is so stable once you know what you are doing (which I don't yet) as the board is so stable. This is the only inline board I have ridden but I would say that it has all the good points of a Dirtsurfer but is really light, REALLY strong, small, (1250 mm) has 300mm dia fat tyres which give a pretty smooth ride and are good in sand and last but not least, fits in the back of a Toyata Yaris. What more could you ask for Nuff said, it's the dog's as far as I am concerned and the only limits with this board are with me not the board and I am working on them and making progress fast.
  23. Not surprised you haven't seen them before, I think I have the only one in the UK and it's the protype aluminium one in the photo. The latest ones are a bit different and really tasty, my new one is arriving next week. What's it like to ride? Ok I have beaten myself to death on mountain boards and just couldn't get the hang of it when riding down hill, spent too much time on my head, back ars* everywhere but riding, jumped on this at the quantocks "ride the hill" and was going immediately. Since then done plenty of downhill and am improving so quickly I can't believe it. Very fast very stable and very light! Love it. Have had a few goes behind a kite and was going so well I chickened out and flew the kite back to slow down got a monster air and pummeled myself. A good pal who has been kitesurfing for 4 years took it away and has ordered one. As far as he is concerned it is the best thing since kitesurfing, if he can't get on the water coz the wind is too low he is on my scoot. I can't compete with him as I am too new at this but he cuts upwind no problem, gets awsome speed with no wobbles, rides toeside gets monster air and he weighs 115 KG! I am healing up and starting to get going again with a kite but I have lots to learn. Completely satisfied in fact so satisfied I have ordered another one as my kids are doing my head in and I am not getting enough time on mine. Watch this space these babys are going to take off, small, light user friendly and REALLY tough! Guess you can see from the length of this post that I KNOW I have found the best board for me and I am making more progress downhill riding than I ever got on my air S, it wasn't my bag! I can see what can be achieved by a competent kitesurfer and I know it is just a question of time before I will be able to do the same. The guy who designs these boards is a mountain boarder and knows what we need for maximum fun for your dosh own one and you will know what I mean and you too will become a preacher to the un initiated. Check the website videos and there is the info on prices and availabilty there as well. Mine is the first protype and I got it at a price that reflected that, the second one is costing 530 euros which is a bargain as far as I am concerned, don't know how he knocks this quality out so cheap. e-mail: mad_marc@windscooting.com web: http://www.windscooting.com/ Nuff said
  24. Get a windscooter or Carbon scooter and blow the competition away. Lightweight fast easy to ride with or without a kite. Totally and completely happy with mine but make sure yuo get the brake if you are going for just downhill. The man has one built down to 4.8KGs and I have ridden it, mine is 6 kgs because I am a BIIIIG bloke but didn't really need all the beefing up. check the site and the vids!e-mail: http://www.windscooting.com/
  25. Hey Matt, check out this site http://www.windscooting.com/ Awsome witha kite and double awesome without, make sure you get the brake if you are going downhill though coz this baby is fast. dead easy to ride beautifully made and bombproof.
