  1. - or Reef Knot, should only be used with lines of equal diameter and material - otherwise you could end up with one piece of line straightening and you basically end up with a larks head on a line with no stopper knot. (Oh and it gets tighter over time if done with similar material - but normally can be undone reasonably easily)
  2. Hi Sppok, Annual Membership is £115 and Day tickets are £5, but you have to be a 'Guest' of a member - email the club with when you want to go and we'll link you up with one if at all possible - although I think you will find Wallop weekends are out Of course you will also need PKSF recognised insurance. If you want to contact us go to www.northhantsbuggy.org.uk and use the email form there.
  3. Unlikely you'll bump into me soon - I live in Hampshire and was visiting my Daughter in Cardiff. BUT, now I know it's there, I'll be making 110% sure I have everything to go buggying when I visit. If my Daughter is Surfing, the Wife will sit on the beach for hours, if she isn't Surfing then then she can take my Wife shopping (I'll cancel the cards before she goes ), and I'll just have to go Buggying - sounds like a good plan to me. Oh and Agger, that camera takes about 4 pictures a day by the look of it. I wouldn't have got much buggying done if I was to get in one of the pictures - and by the time the picture had been taken, the wave I gave might not have been too friendly:D
  4. Sorry AndyC, We were on the M4 just over the Second Severn Crossing when my daughter told me that Llangennith was a no-no as there was no surf, so I ended up at Rest Bay in Porthcawl. I have NEVER had so much free space to myself EVER - I was the only buggy and had to 'share' it with a Boarder for the last hour - Oh Well:p. Spent 3 hours down there with most of the beach (past the red mark;)) to myself. I now have an aching body and improved buggying skills. Went from a 5 to a 3 to a 1.5 where the wind changed. Arms are now 7.27 inches longer. Biggying on sand is FANTASTIC (once it dries out a bit:rolleyes:) Thanks guys again for the advice, maybe next time.
  5. Looks like I'm gonna need fog lights:D Cheers Agger.
  6. Thanks for the responses. Looks like I am going to be there Saturday. I'll be flying an Apache Kite made by Roy at Kites Up (either 3 or 5m). I'll probably have to go along for a chat with someone at some time, so I might see you. Must admit, looking forward to buggying on a beach, I'm a 'Landlubber' myself.
  7. Anyone got any hints and tips about Buggying on the beach near Llangennith on the Gower Peninsula? Going there Saturday and can either watch some surfing, or get out and do some buggying
  8. The other Guys name was Roy He'll be at Basingstoke this weekend (Brian/Joe)
  9. I'm here 'lurking', but I have to work for a living! Don't have too much free time like some Students. How come you are back Saturday? I've got to go up to Keele then to pick up the offspring! See Students play while while the Parents have to make the money to keep them there!!! Might see you sometime over the holiday.
  10. Thanks for that Guys, Only time I was able to make it to Gwithian, the tide was in!! Didn't get to see any sand at all. Maybe next time.
  11. Figured Gwithian was probably the best bet. Thanks for that, Colin
  12. Anyone know of any places where you can buggy in the area of Par Sands, Cornwall? Down there for a few days next week and want to take my gear with me if I am going to be able to use it! Thanks in advance.
  13. Did I say steer left?? One of those DERR moments. I meant right - check out this thread for a reasoned debate on the matter: http://www.flexifoil.com/community/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14553
  14. A subject of great debate but I think that you will find that: "You ALWAYS protect your right" i.e. ALWAYS steer to the left to avoid anything. That way everyone knows what everyone else will (should) be doing.
  15. You can only fly there when the Middle Wallop Kite and Buggy Festival is on - use the search facility to find the recent threads regarding last weekends festival. Check out Kites Up Website as they organise the festival and will have up to date information on it. 800 acres of mown grass 'the biggest lawn in England' Flying at other times - you need to contact local people, it might pay you to start a new thread with the question 'Flying Sites in the New Forest area'
