  1. Hi all, have'nt been on here for a couple of years now (must be at least that), hope everyone is still doing well and injury free. I just popped in because i'm looking for an old weather forecast, or weather data from 1st June. It was a Sunday. Bizzare request i know, but i need it as detailed as possible for over the Southampton area. Especially wind speed, cloud cover, that kind of thing. Any ideas where i can get this info? Cheers, brewz.
  2. Made a mistake on the directions to whitefield Moor, it was only minor, i said take a left at the x roads at the top of GriggLane but its right instead. I've ammended this on the directions so if u printed them out again they will be correct. Brewz
  3. hi there, i used to live in Brockenhurst, (boring fact..Hollands Wood is named after my great great grandad) Anyway, i regularly fly at Brockenhurst still. Sites are..... 1. Whitefield Moor: Left out of Hollands Wood, turn right at The Careys Manor hotel, head up Grigg Lane till x-roads. Take right, through village then right at the watersplash. Follow this rd all the way about a mile until you see open forest both sides of you. Whitefield Moor car park is on the right, not the first right, but the 2nd. Has toilets and icecream van! Can get a little busy with horses etc, but a lot of space. 2. Even better, Wiverly Plain: Same route as above until the watersplash at the end of Brock village, but then turn left instead of right. Follow this rd about 3 miles, lots of windy roads and bends through trees but stay on them untill you get to the top of the hill. Turn right and you will see a couple of carparks at Wilverly. Gets busy at left end with tourists, has toilets and the usual horses etc. Worth taking a look at some of the New Forest kiting threads though as there has been a few moans lately. Good luck and hope u enjoy Brock, The Foresters is probably the best pub around there, left out of campsite, follow rd until just before level crossing. Snake catcher on the left, Foresters over the rd on the right. Hope this helps, Brewz P.S: If u have kids and like all the other tourists, decide to paddle/swim in the Balmer Lawn river..........the cows sh*t in it regualary!!!
  4. Hi there, I can sympathise with you about your ankle, i had mine smashed and also ligaments ripped after a very thoughtfull delivery of 250lbs of explosives over the fence of my base in S.Armagh. My point is, make sure you follow the physios advice and rest and exercise it properly at the speed that they tell you to. I was not given the proper time to recover and was back on patrol within weeks with a knackered ankle.....result: my ankle never fixed properly and i now have to wear a brace permanently on it. I,ve since trained as a Sports Therapist so i know the value of letting it heal before throwing yourself back into the kites. If you ripped the ligaments, even when they heal, you should do exercises that the physio will prescribe to work on what they call "proprioception". In your ankles case this will mean that if your ankle starts twisting again, the message will be sent to your brain to right it again before it injures itself. This training will help good muscle co-ordination and proprioception. If you're not medicaly minded, this should explain well enough.....i did'nt do the above rest, healing and exercices afterwards and i subsequently had my ankle co-ordination shot to hell. Every time my weak ankle turned, my brain did'nt register fast enough and broke my ankle. So to date, i have broken my ankle about a dozen times and will always have this brace on. Food for thought. Good luck with it anyway, and if you ever have any questions on it i would be glad to try and help. Brewz

I use Kheo protection, cheap at about £20odd, but very comfy and do the job( believe me when i say theyve been well tested lol) Brewz
  6. Hi Big Air, ive had a Flyer for a while now and given your weight, i was wondering if you would find the flyer a little too heavy. 12kg i think. Others may say different, everyone to their own and all that, but the air-s etc are a lot lighter. Shame to be hindered by too much weight strapped to your feet. Just a thought Brewz
  7. That probably sounded realy bad didnt it. Not really directed at you, more some general advice to others as to why it's a good idea to get a helmet. Brewz
  8. Dont mean to put a morbid view on this, but from a Sports Therapists point of view, any good bang on the head should be checked out, especialy with your symptoms. On a personal note, my dad fell down some stairs when he was 18 and banged his head. Within 2 weeks they found a tumour coz of it, gave him 6 months to live. Some how he carried on going till he died last year. But its not nice growing up knowing hat your dad may drop dead at any moment. Not nice seeing someone close to you slowly deteriorate so badly. Sorry to be some deep, but this is the reality of what a bang on the head can do , or may cause if you dont get it checked. Not nice for you, your girlfriend, family and the people who have to look after you. Good enough reason for a helmet methinks! Brewz. P.S: Congrats on the jump though!
  9. Just a tip when buying a sewing machine for making your own kites, I got the cheapest Argos one for xmas(£80ish) and its got more features on it than i will ever need. No need to go for the really expensive ones.
