Hi Are there any ex-newbies out there who can sell me a training DVD for beginner kite surfers??? I’m not sure which one would be best, but I am really after something that goes right from the basics through. Thanks for looking Dave

The cold never seems too bad with a decent winter suit and a rubber hood (kinky). Glooves are also a must, need to keep the wind off those boney apendages! Just out of interest, how much did your lesson cost?????

HI Y'all I (over the past couple of months) have been trying to get some basic kit together so that I can get out and go kite surfing. Went and bought myself a WINTER wet suit last week, and took it down to the beach today, to see just how warm/cold I would be, and everything was pretty good. I now have some questions. 1). When you get out of your wet suit and wash it down, should you leave it to dry inside out, or the right way round? . 2). I live in bexhill (near Eastbourne). Does anyone want to offer some help to a begginer, or tell me where I can find a decent place to learn??? That's all for now, But I am pretty sure I will back asking loads more questions. Cheers for your time (who ever reads this) Cheers even More!! (For whever posts a reply!!!! ) Dave

Hi In order to avoid being treated differently (and sometimes unfairly) the sport really needs to grow to the point where it is no longer seen as unusual (in the grand scheme of things at least). All the time that we are seen as a 'Minority' the easiest thing for councils to do is to introduce bans for the good of the so called majority (who I personaly find very interested and enthusiastic about this sport - not many people are critical). And with regards to the type comments. That of course is true..... But we need to remember that when things go wrong someone (usualy the local A&E) has to pick up the pieces, and that is NEVER cheap! I think that we could gain a lot of respect just through positive marketing of oursleves. We should push harder to encourage people to take our personal insurance schemes, and to use their safety gear! Afterall, if we police ourselves effectively, then what leg do councils or other organisation have to stand on to stop us enjoying this great passtime?

Hi There bud... I feel your pain. I am recovering from a simillar accident. Like your self my foot dug into the sand, but instead of snapping my thigh, I shapped my leg bones across my ankle joint. Dont think it was as painful as yours though...... God what went through your mind when it happend????????? bet you were mighty glad your Bro was there!!!! Anyway, I am just starting to get back into the kiting thing (after about 4 months away so I cant really complmain) I think I was pretty luck One thing I have decided though, Is that I am definatley going to resist the temptating of landing on my feet for the most part..... I think the old 'roll and absorb' tatic is hopefuly going to stop me breaking any more apenages!!! Anyway mate, sorry to ramble. Top pics Nice one for putting them on the web!!! Take care, and have a speedy recovery! Cheers.

Hi Guys, Maybe I am bieng a bit of a 'Tard, but I have looked on the internet, and asked my local news agent, and there seems to be no sign of 'powerkite' magazine.... ... Does anybody who owns one of these elusive documents happen to have a web address, or even a postal address for them, so that I can subscribe?!?!??!?!?!?!? Thanks Dave

So what kite are you taking delivery of then m8? is it the bladeII 7.8 you mentioned earlier in your thread? sounds pretty good to me. will be interesting to see what you make of it. How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking.......... I have a sudden urge to get a bigger kite for when I am back in action after this dodgy ankle business. cheers Dave

Hi There mateJust wanted to tell you a story I tried this method with my blade 4.9 and all was going well. it was a windy day (maybe a little lumpy) but other than that conditions were great. Anyway, My jumps were huge (by my standards). Landing were a little rough, but not too bad. anyway, on my last jump my height was nowhere near what it had been. the kite just did not travel towards the Zenith as it had before. this caused me to have quite alot of horizontal speed, it was on the way down that a slight gust of wind served to accelerate me even faster. no quetion about it my landing was going to be hard. on hitting the ground my leg ploughed into the sand and what I can only describe as a 'snatching effect' lead to two loud cracking sounds (oh the cracking sounds). I then had to spend a week in hospital while I had surgery on my ankle to fix my leg back together with plenty of metal screws and some plates.... ... Moral of the story BE CEARFUL.!!! don't want to stop you having fun, but always make sure you consider your landings.. always try to roll rather than skid after a jump. My accident cost me the summer, and I havent been able to kite jump for about 3 months now GUTTED. keep safe and have fun the floatier the landings the better, but if you really want to thrash the B0!!0ck5 out of it, just make sure your landings are well prepaired.... ... Practice makes perfect! DAVE

Hmmm You are actually probably right there mate. A mechanical design engineer I am, but conversant in HTML or comfortable with the ins and outs of Macramedia and Front page I am not. Although things are starting to improve (and that was the basic point of this whole exercise) so atleast something is going to plan. Having said that, now I have started I am quite determined to produce the best web recourse that I can. I am starting to get a better feel site layout, and I must say I am a little tempted to start over. I think whats hard isnt cramming your site full of junk it is getting things on there which are original, useful or interesting enough to make somone want to come back. I am beggining to think that maybe keeping the info 'Local' is where its at... What do you think? Dave

Right, When I get home I am gonna break out my copy of dream weaver ------ Any tips before I get started?? I am not too sure why i choose to use front page, I think that dream weaver looked a little more quirky, but if it really is that much more powerful, then bring it on!!! Dave
