  1. They filmed in one of the chambers I run at my work a couple of weeks ago, testing winter gear. 1 and 1/2 days filming for about a 7 min slot. May even be in it, spraying up the car.... http://fwd.channel5.com/gadget-show/videos/other/coming-up-series-16-episode-19
  2. I went with the NFU first year I had my van, they gave me my NCD I had on my car, towards the van, which made it a lot better. Shrimpo
  3. Letter sent, keep up the good work Peter
  4. Lift is the main one. Manta has it, Access don't, in the main that is, yes all kites will lift you given the right/wrong conditions.... Manta go bigger size wise as well..
  5. Got to say almost the same as you flydad, mind you since I moved now sailing most weekends, same buzz, as with the kites, just a lot closer for me to do it now, that said still get out with the kites, just not as much as in the past, and will keep it for the winter, what it's way to cold to be out on the water... always want to be doing things, and have over my time done loads, nice to be able to look back and say glad I did that, rather than wish I had done that, still got a few things to tick off the old list...... 6. manual, test cars so know.. on the same drive cycle/style of driving.
  7. LOL. I got one as well, (4 way control) for the No wind days, and must say after spending out £££ on a good few sets of blades, only managing to chase the bloody thing all over the park, have not had it out for a while (chopper that is), + the battery's only lasts a short while, you do need no wind when you start. Have watched others fly them, and it is good when someone can do it, maybe not enough time spent on PC games in the past to get the control thing right... TOY's you got to have them... Must say though, the indoors ones (micro) are good fun, and robust so if you do crash them normally ok, not so good the the light fittings though... Shrimpo
  8. My first time on a Windsurfer for many years, last weekend, did try it once a long time ago. Got an old rig from the bay, and gave it a go, managed to stay up on it and move a bit, even a couple of turns, but must say still spent a bit of time in the water. Will give me a toy to play with when the wind is to light to bother sailing me boats, in the summer months.. Must say, it is strange how hard it was, as done kite surfing in the past, though TBH spent a long time getting the hang of that, but as you are already in the water anyway..... oh and yes lots of time getting up, going down, up, down, now to think back.... oh well worth the time to keep at it... Must say though the old land based stuff has taken a bit of a back seat, since I got my boats.. Keep at it abba, you need a change sometimes to keep the interest.. Shrimpo
  9. Told you Dave, it takes time.. next up is a 2 line foil, then back i nthe bug, but take care, lots of protection, keep the wrist away from any impacts, fall on a different bit if you can. Once back in the bug you will feel a bit on edge for a while, but sure it will come back to you. Keep yourself out of trouble for now, won't be to much longer. Shrimpo
  10. Well done Chinook, that's some going, having done the 24 hour race and a couple of long days 150 mile mark, know how hard it can get on the short runs back up and down, good choice of kite. Shrimpo
  11. 21st July 2007 The day it happened. http://powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/21345-2/DSCF3043.JPG First Fly 5th Aug 2007 http://powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/21431-2/alkite.jpg Not a power kite but a 2 line delta, just needed to fly. you can see a patch on my right arm. Was probably out a bit with small kites from end of Aug, well padded up, used a wrist support, and took it real easy. 23rd Oct http://powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/23248-2/DSC_3245.jpg 25th Nov 2007 http://powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/23828-2/DSC_0283.jpg As you can see lots of padding, probably kept that up for 6 month or so, still stick them on if it’s a gusty day. So I would say you are looking at 2 to 3 months, now I’m on a Bar, the thing that’s got me is that the accident has set off arthritis in me, so now lost a lot of strength in my hands, but that don’t mean it will for you. In your type of flying area, you are going to have a lot of strain on the arms and wrist in the dunes, so you may have to stick to the flat areas for a while, any more Q’s just give us a shout. Don't remember my hands swelling up that much, but it's been a while now. May be the heat where you are, and some effect due to it, they to keep you hand up for a bit, as could be fluids. Hope you are ok, and feeling like it’s moving forward. Shrimpo
  12. Snap, in more ways than one then Dave Mine from 2007, looks like the same thing. http://powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/22483-1/Alans+Wrist+X+-ray.JPG Will take a while to heal.. Take it easy, and don't rush it. Shrimpo
  13. Dave, may be more than a few weeks mate, sounds like you have a plate in your wrist like mine, next time your over we can check out scars and all. Got to find somthing to do now, maybe a good time to look at all that vid you have been taking, keep you chin up get well soon, get a little delta kite to play with once you feel up to a fly, helped me fel beter, then on to a small 2 line kite. Shrimpo
  14. Silly old sod, that's going to knock his average down a bit for the year. Hope he heals quick, sure he will pop in to the forum when he's at home/ Get well soon Dave.. Shrimpo
  15. And what's the little lady thinking then..???? He's going to out all the time.... soon put a stop to that..
  16. I will have to dig out my old Photos of Chamonix then.. We only did a bit of climbing, no fancy stuff like the "chop" Shrimpo
  17. mummm, let me see.... Nope can't think of anything you have done outside tidley winks thats Extreame... Oh you did build that sand castle once. No Point getting to a ripe old age and saying "I wish I had done that" far better to say "Done that, got the T, moved on" What say you Dave. Shrimpo
  18. Not much room for errors, and it would not be a good landing at that speed, mad that is, pushing it to the limit... Nice find.
  19. TBH in the high winds we are talking about any kind of launch is going to be iffy, I have seen this done, and also seen people dragged sideways down the beach doing it. The Access on full DP, is not to bad and you don't get much lift, but lots of pull, I tend to hot launch from sitting in the buggy, have done for many years now, ok you shoot forwards a bit, but as you are traveling in the direction of the pull, it's ok. Each time we have been out in these big winds, it has been different, and trying to sand a kite down on one tip can lead to them flipping, they are not like a "tube" or PL in that way, mainly due to the bridel system. We fly inland a lot so no sand, could use bags, but still found it my personal choice to go straigh up, and deal with it. Each to own, mind you not many ventur out in these big winds, play it safe and fly anouther day. Shrimpo
  20. 4m Access, and if it gets a bit much for that, then down to 2m Rooky.. Been out in 50 mph with these, but it's the gusts that get you, well apart from getting the kites up in the first place, now that's the scary bit, also probably the most at risk time, most stress on gear and you.. Shrimpo
  21. Might want to look on a sliding scale, you start on X amount as you will not have as much knowledge/experience as the QM, so that after a year your pay is reviewed, and you should then be on the same pay scale as the current QM, Y amount, as you will have proven your worth to them by then as well. This may make them feel better about it, knowing you have thought about it, and understand they are going to be paying you to train for a period of time, but once you are doing the same as the current QM you would expect to be paid the same. As for finding out how much that is, you need to talk to the QM, sure they will understand. they must be doing the same thing to become WM.. Shrimpo
  22. Give us clue WHAT survey, did we forget something...
  23. Sorry, go to be this one.. 50.992717,1.986294 - Google Maps Not even a short flight needed, 30 min on the tunnel.
  24. No, they have no side loading due to the type of bearing, you would not be able to do the bolts up without them clamping the wheel tight... only any good for a trolley or barrow. You need this type Peter Lynn Buggy Wheels Rims Spokes 12mm 15mm 20mm Bearings Spacers Buggy Buggies Buggying Power Kite Shop UK Equipment Powerkiteshop Two bearings one each side with spacer between, ball race bearings so take side force as well...
